We turn our attentions to the weekend’s nine matches now and delve into the data in our first member’s article of the week. Chelsea, Man City and Tottenham’s goalscoring midfielders arrive on our radar, whilst Swansea’s in-form frontman and Andy Carroll’s impact on West Ham’s style of play are also amongst this evening’s topics.

Who is a decent Clyne replacement under 5.5? Would pick Naylor in a heart beat if it wasn't for his 4 YC's. 🙁

Cisse, Tadic and Clyne to Rooney, Jedinak and Neil Taylor for -4pts? Worth it?

    Does this sound daft:

    Forster, Bertrand, Pelle

    -> Krul, Yun, Rooney (-8)

    Would leave me with

    Krul,
    Baines, Naylor, DUff
    ADM, Haz, Downing, Sanchez
    Kun, Rooney, Austin

    ??

Not for me. Baines and Eriksen are both good picks, assuming they'll play. You have PVA injured, possibly Duff and Downing too, tough fixtures for Bertrand and Tadic, and Taylor on four yellows. Having a full playing squad will be important over the busy schedule coming up, would prioritise that if you're getting rid of 8 points.

I know the fixtures dictate selling saints assets.

But Southampton are TOP IN THE LEAGUE for the following stats:

    Home goals scored
    Home goals conceded
    Away goals conceded

They are no mugs. Even the two games they lost were by a single goal and against the run of play. Who is to say Man City will turn up at St Mary's and roll them over?

or to make it easier to understand:

            Aguero 2 points + Costa 12 points as captain = 14 points

            Aguero as captain 4 points + Costa 6 points = 10 points

14 minus ten makes it a 4 point difference

    Me:

    Just right:
Hazard - Brought him in 3 games ago for 10,2,11

    Just wrong:
Cheap strikers: I have had exactly 0 (yes 0) goals and 0 (yes 0) assists from my cheap strikers this season.

Getting Clyne since start and Aguero before 4 goals have been only good moves I guess.
I have owned almost all mid-price forwards and in similar situation as you. Ade(1 assist), Mario(1 assist) and Bony(nothing).
Among cheap strikers, I have only picked Austin(1 goal) and Cisse(1 assist plus Duff's 5 pointer from bench).

Not A. Personally I think your defence is in great shape until the WC, wouldn't touch it.

Rooney is tempting, but I don't know if relying on Boyd is worth it. Likewise ADM - Kane is great value, but given his price range, he's a -4 waiting to happen if he gets rotated. Everton and Chelsea up next for Spurs, as well.

I'd monitor Chadli's injury, and if he's okay, just do Pelle > Bony.

If we take out Aguero's 4 goals against Spurs, seems like Aguero (and City) are performing better away from home this season. Another explanation might be that he prefers playing alone leading teh front line. Jovetic steals his goals, shoots more than he passes.

    Which is more accurate?

    1. tokara
      • 9 Years
      9 years, 7 months ago

Kun is better when alone, his goal hauls were all from 4-5-1 formation

that Jovetic's positioning is all wrong...if u watch the last game, Jovetic is always running around asking for ball but nobody is giving to him because he aint the playmaker!

    2. Rödallegabomb ᴿᴮ
      • 11 Years

Agüero does not perform better away from home.

Before his brace away to QPR, he had only managed to score more than once in an away game on four occasions.

If you look at his away stats this season, you'll see that he has tended to get just one goal early on, then nothing more.

At home he is more explosive and means a brilliant captain choice. Away is a risk, you're likely to get 6 points at best.

Kun and Jovetic doesn't work. They are kinda similar so they get in each others way. Pelle should play Aguero and Dzeko or Aguero alone. Or play Jove in the Silva role or wide but not in a 4-4-2.

Tevez is a selfless striker who can assist and his constant running opened up spaces for Aguero. Always looks for the 1-2. He tends to drop deep and collect the ball too leaving Aguero the freedom in the penalty area and around it. Can't say the same about Jovetic

Does this mean we should not captain Aguero when Jove is available and Dzeko is out (assuming that Pelle likes Dzeko more than Jove) or is that a wrong conclusion. Maybe we need an article to discuss the effect of the City formation on Aguero's returns? Could be very helpful.

Jovetic’s running into the path of everyone…not just Kun

After he was subbed at 66th minute, City become the Champions again…Kun started to shoot but City could have scored more if Kun could just learnt to pass the ball and stop being selfish!
