The Big Numbers – Gameweek 12

We turn our attentions to the weekend’s nine matches now and delve into the data in our first member’s article of the week. Chelsea, Man City and Tottenham’s goalscoring midfielders arrive on our radar, whilst Swansea’s in-form frontman and Andy Carroll’s impact on West Ham’s style of play are also amongst this evening’s topics.

Won't make transfers until after mid week games but nice to have some thoughts.

    Pelle & Tadic -> ? &?

    16.2 to spend

    A) Hazard & Austin/ Sakho / Kane
    B) ADM & Austin / Sakho / Kane
    C) Rooney & 5.7 mid
    D) Bony & 8.0 mid
    E) Something else

    Current front 8:
    Sanchez, Siggy, Chadli, Tadic (Wanyama)
    Aguero, Costa, Pelle

Last 2 gameweeks ago I got Eriksen in for Sterling. This week I got Chadli in for Eriksen.

    So,

If Chadli is fit for next week, Cesc Pelle -> Siggy Costa
If Chadli is out for next week (or long term), Chadli Pelle -> Siggy Bony.

Sounds good? Double Swans + Chelsea risky but fixtures backing them up.

A simple downgrade elsewhere is all that's needed. I don't see the problem with it. Could be amazing value even if he's just decent never mind good.

Selling Ivanovic somewhere down the track if he isn't bringing in enough points. Will use to funds to upgrade Kane.

Power-5 midfield here. Upgrading Kane (he'll be my first sub most weeks) and dumping a midfielder go hand in hand.

I can't believe I've had Krul from the start of the season and yet only profited from one out of his FIVE CSs ... thanks to a certain Asmir Begovic. Woulda been better off if I just went for flipping Elliot instead. -.-

Probably not but meh, get him anyway, he's cheap and plays up front for Spurs.

    Just activated the wildcard.

Gone for a power 5 midfield with Costa/Aguero/Kane up front. Probably crazy but there are no defenders screaming out for investment and the budget options have suited me great so far.

      Who's your mid?

Downing and Chadli are out so it limits the option for a decent milf other than siggy

        Mid is currently Sanchez-Siggy-Cesc-Downing-Hazard.

Keeping Downing for now until more news on the injury front.

I think Demi posted earlier next week might be too early for Downing.
So you can do a week punt before going Downing.

            Cheers, will look into that.

If he's only out for the week I might just save the free transfer and bench him - as you say there aren't too many other options in that range.

Would be surprised if Kane didn't start the next game though so always got him to start.

      1. hurrrrr

I'm all about the budget defence.

I know it's not the most popular strategy but without bragging it's taken 2 pretty awful game weeks for me to drop out of the top 1k, I think it works! Remember reading from the guy who won the thing last year that he avoids any premium defenders until the end of the season.

Chelsea defence is tempting but I think Costa/Cesc are no brainers and I decided I'd rather have Hazard than Azpilicueta at the end of the day.

        1. Clintymints
          • 15 Years

          Baines only worthwhile pricey defender

New year will bring back some other big lads but the good teams are conceding and the lower teams are doing better

A consistant back 4 on form of a lower team is better than a big name defender of a big team.

Oops. Asked the same question in an older thread.

Guys, you think Krul will go up to 4.7m by the time the game against Burnley rolls around? Planned to bring in Green for Krul this week, but if Krul is likely to gain me a 0.1m profit by GW14, I'd hold off on the transfer, especially given how uber cheap my defense is.

I brought him in for GW9 after he scored 2 goals in 2 games. I had him for his nice little run of 2, 0 & 1 points before selling him ahead o this gameweek. Thanks Eriksen, it's been a blast.

Similar sentiments here. For me it would be either Bony + Chadlii or Kane + Siggy?. However the xtra funds can be used to upgrade Tadic -> Hazard -4. Kane is a very handy enabler.

Tough one. To be honest though I think I'd rather have Kane than Chadli. And you know I prefer Siggy. But then again Bony could explode. Man, it really is tough.

Yeah I wouldn't want to double up on Spurs or Swansea so its got to be one of each I think. I also tend to agree that Kane is a better Spurs option than Chadlii. Its tough to ignore Bony's form right now though. At least his stats in the big numbers article aren't all that.

I doubt they'll maintain their current form against much stiffer tests. They've had the easiest run to this point.
They have made the most of it and I don't expect them to collapse, but even a goal or two in seven of the next nine will make a mess of their CS stats.

He's cheaper than the likes of Austin and Ings and he plays up front for a better team. He also looks like he will get a good run in the first team so I think Kane is a strong prospect. His budget price is the main drawcard.

How does Forster + Clyne + Jags ---> Fabianski + Terry + Jenkinson for -4 sound?

All of my attackers/mids I am happy with, just need to wait on some news on Downing. (In an ideal world would love Hazard but dont think its wise to drop ADM)

So should we assume Kane will go up in price tonight? it will be very close and isn't predicted to go up till tomorrow. Would you sell Pelle for him tonight? or wait till after the Saints game and risk Kane possibly going up in price?

If you're set on him I'd do it now. Bony not a bad backup plan though. 😀

I would like to invite Pelle to possibly change my mind. However even if he bags a hattrick its probably still best to sell him with Saints rough upcoming fixtures.

I would do it now. Don't let a good game from Pelle trick you into holding. Those fixtures are the worst I've seen.

Yeah I'm just more confident backing a Spurs striker than a striker in a team which will struggle.

Decision moment.. Pelle is on 4 bookings too. I have exact budget and Kane's rise will mess things up. He has a Europa game too.

Oh.. I think I'd do it now.

Austin for me, although if there was a nice upgrade you could afford elsewhere in your team if you went with Kane, then he is a worth alternative 🙂

I've been thinking of doing this all week:

            Kane > Austin
            Tadic > ADM
            Chambers > Yun

I have to do it tonight if I do as Austin might go up

yes if you have paid the money for coleman, you start him...notably spurs home form has been shocking, and they have been quite good away from home

Rooney and Austin/sakho OR costa and Kane/ayoze???

Probably Costa & Ayoze. I'd say Rooney is more explosive but if he's going to be playing deep then it's probably not worth the risk.

Despite having no players yesterday i dropped less than 200 places and only one place in the members league. After spurs and liverpool both played. Seems unbelievable

A sign of the times perhaps, both sides looking very shaky at the moment...
But it's mainly down to the low-scoring gameweek of course. Always seems to be the case after an international break...just when we need a fantasy fix most, they serve up this shit.

Super low ownership it seemed today amongst ffs teams.

Many with 0 pts. Average in top10k rose by 0.9pt.

None of the higher point scorers for Sunday were owned by more than 5% I think.
