PlayON Picks – Gameweek 17 – £350 FREEROLLS, OVER £2,000 GUARANTEED POTS

Our Friday lunchtime regular arrives once again, as we take a look at the PlayON Player Price List ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. As always, we offer a couple of picks per position: one essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.

PlayON have now extended their deadline for submitting your teams so you can now tinker with your starting XI right up until the first kick-off each week – so tomorrow that’s right up to 12.45, with Man City hosting Crystal Palace in the Gameweek’s early kick-off.

PlayON also has FREEROLL games and Guaranteed Pot games running each week for the rest of the season at www.PlayON.co .This week they have £350 in Freerolls and over £2,000 in Guaranteed Pots on offer – to get your free entry into the Freerolls just follow them on Twitter at twitter.com/PlayON and like them on Facebook at facebook.com/PlayON.

Goalkeeper – Adrian
The West Ham stopper looks an excellent value option between the posts this weekend for a home encounter with basement-dwellers Leicester. Priced at just 6.9, Adrian has conceded just twice in his last five home matches and with the visitors scoring a mere four goals on their travels all season, Big Sam’s side will be optimistic of earning another clean sheet. Man City’s home encounter with Crystal Palace cannot be ignored. With question marks hovering over Manuel Pellegrini’s back-four, we’re not prepared to take any risks here and have opted for the security of Joe Hart for the Etihad encounter – available for 8.2m, he’s conceded only once in the last four Gameweeks.

Defender – Phil Jones
Having returned from injury in the previous Gameweek, the Man United defender comes in at a very budget-friendly 7.1m for the trip to Villa Park. The Red Devils have embarked on a six-match winning run ahead of their midlands clash, shipping just three goals over that period, and bearing in mind that Paul Lambert’s side have scored only six times in front of their own fans, Louis van Gaal’s side will be optimistic of repelling their struggling hosts. Tottenham’s Ben Davies is also on our Gameweek 17 radar. Despite starting each of the last five league matches, he sets you back just 6.3m ahead of a plum home clash against Burnley – with a clean sheet and assist in his previous two, Davies offers points potential at both ends of the pitch.

Midfielders – Frank Lampard
We’re taking a punt on City’s veteran for the home clash against Palace tomorrow. Lampard took his tally to four strikes for the season last weekend – equalling Yaya Toure’s league haul – and his eye for goal in and around the box could make the difference as the champions attempt to restructure after losing all three first-team strikers to injury. Whilst Toure’s dead-ball duties hold appeal, Lampard, at a price of 7.4m to the Ivorian’s 14.3m, could prove excellent value against an Eagles defence with a single clean sheet in 10 attempts. Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen is our essential midfielder for the visit of Burnley. With three goals and a pair of assists in his last five appearances, the Dane’s revival as a Fantasy asset has been music to the ears of managers – priced at 11.0 in this week’s PlayON Player Price List, he faces a defence that have registered a single shut-out on their travels all season.

Forwards – Charlie Austin
Back after serving a one-match suspension for last Monday’s trip to Everton, the QPR top scorer will be eager to atone for lost time. Priced at just 8.6m, Austin has racked up five goals and a pair of assists in the previous four matches in front of his own fans and will fancy his chances of producing again as West Brom roll up to Loftus Road. Having overlooked Stewart Downing in the centre of the park, we turn to his West Ham team-mate Diafra Sakho to lead the line instead. Coming in at a cut-price 8.1m, the Senegal striker has scored in all but one of his six Upton Park appearances and with sidekick Andy Carroll also set to terrorise the Leicester defence, Sakho has every chance of getting amongst the goals yet again.

Head over to www.PlayON.co and get your teams in for the £350 in Freerolls and £2,000 in guaranteed pots.

any Downing captainers - what's your rationale for doing so this week? I feel it's slightly risk and any points i get from him are bonus.

fwiw I'm captaining Bony this week, feel Chelsea players are also a risk away at stoke

I have Downing but I won't captain him.

Seriously torn between going for Sanchez or Bony this week myself..

I believe the argument is that he is on form, Leceister are shite and even more so on set-pieces. Downing can get an assist or 2 plus baps.

I have Downing as captain at the moment, his form is amazing and I think Carroll at home.. on those crosses....

        It's making me queasy though.

I have been confident of Sanchez (c) all week. Almost never blanks, the most explosive player now FPL-wise, Arsenal gaining some form and scoring a lot and Liverpool are crap. However, seeing Triggerlips captain Downing is tempting me to do the same. I also don't trust Wenger in the big games. He might get his tactics all wrong and they end up losing 2-0 or something.

What should I do? Sanchez or Downing? And why?

Hey everyone, need some advise this week.

    Forster
    Terry, N.Taylor, Yun
    Fabregas, Erikson, Miralles, Siggy
    Rooney, Costa, Bony
    Heaton, O'Shea, Boyd, Hutton

    2M in the bank.

Considering taking a 4 point hit and do Miralles > Toure and Costa > Austin?

    Afternoon chaps

    Guzan
    Baines | Azpi | Bartley
    Yaya | Fab | Downing | Sanchez
    Austin | Tekkers | Costa

    Gilks | Wisdom | Clyne | Boyd

    1 FT, 0.1m ITB

I've got feelings about Eriksen, RVP and the Hammers in general this week - which of these works?

    1) Downing & Tekkers > Eriksen & Sakho (-4) - sorry to lose Downing but would probably sell next week, have WHU cover from Sakho
    2) Tekkers & Costa > Sakho & RVP (-4) - United usually smash Villa and RVP is on fire... double up on WHU too much though?

    Any advice much appreciated!

It is time to elect a new world leader, and only your vote counts. Here are the facts about the three candidates.

    Candidate A.

Associates with crooked politicians, and consults with an astrologist. He's had two mistresses. He also chain smokes and drinks 8 to 10 martinis a day.

    Candidate B.

He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until noon, used opium in college and drinks a quart of whiskey every evening.

    Candidate C.

He is a decorated war hero. He's a vegetarian, doesn't smoke, only drinks an occasional beer and never cheated on his wife. Which of these candidates would be your choice? Decide first ... no peeking, then scroll down for the response.

Siggy's performances aren't translating into FPL points, and both have 3/4 away coming up. Plus I want to tap into West Ham's attacking points.

He seems to attract bonus every time he scores, unlike Costa. At £5.8 I think he's great value.

I'm steering clear of Man City this week.
Too many unknowns about the formation -- which could be a disaster.
    No Kompany in the defence.

I was thinking of Nasri for -4. But he could end up with just an assist.

      • 12 Years

You're steering clear but considering putting Nasri in for a hit?

Whatever formation they play, they should have enough to beat Palace comfortably. An unknown formation also means Palace might find it hard to plan.

Newcastle, Hull and Villa in the next 3 as well, pretty enticing.

I know people always say never take a hit for a keeper, but thinking of doing Krul to Hart. The question is what would you prefer:
A: 4 points, 1.6m ITB and Heaton for the next 4 (tot,LIV,mci, new), or
B: Hart for the next 4 (CPL,wba,BUR,SUN - then flip back to Heaton for QPR, CPL before my WC)
    Cheers!!

    Will Yun rise tonight?

And I've already asked his missus but she's clueless. And hard to understand.

Good words for Henry by Wnger today. I always felt it was ashame that he bombed a bit in the European cup final and the World Cup that followed....both he and Ronaldinho fluffed their lines abit for those...He was a great player though.

It does happen unfortunately, when people define an entire team around you, pressure certainly builds up. Two of my absolute favourites.

Absolutely. Professionals feel pressure all the time, especially important ones. Always surprises me that football players aren't allowed to have the same struggle.

When a doctor doctors a doctor, does the doctor doing the doctoring doctor as the doctor being doctored wants to be doctored or does the doctor doing the doctoring doctor as he wants to doctor.
