What shall I do with this bunch of misfits. Had a cracking GW this week with 81 and still Austin (C) to come.

    Myhill
    Bellerin, PvA, Alder
    Haz, Eriksen, Silva, Sanchez
    Kane (C), Aguero, Austin

    Krul, Boyd, Azpi, Haidara

    1FT with 1.4 ITB
Haidara is gone for the season so may need to get rid.
Tempted to dispose of Azpi to Terry
Happy to hold Austin till his blank.

    Thoughts?

If you're happy to hold Austin then I'm not sure you really need to do anything this week. You could save and have 2FT for the blank.

Austin out is the obvious I guess. Remy/Murray/Gomis all popular options.

Save the FT if you're happy holding Austin.

I sold him for Bentalab so I can free up some Costa cash, now I have 3 Spurs attackers 😕 I suppose thats reason enough to finally ditch Eriksen

on the other hand it's good for fallers like myself - 6 red arrows a drop from 22nd place to mid 300. Desperately captained him and I'm looking at my first green arrow since gameweek 24

I love how quickly things change in football.

Before the Spurs game we were considering our (Man Utd) tough run of games about to come and the possibility we'd drop out of the top 4.

After convincing wins against Spurs and Liverpool we're now ahead of City and favourites to beat them. We could potentially be in a position where we're ahead of City no matter the result to Chelsea.

I'll never consider things being finished in the premier league until they mathematically are. I won't even give Chelsea the league......just yet 😉

Not yet mate, not yet. I'm just worried about the possibility of Arsenal winning the league. But if they can, we can as well. It seems like an exciting end to the season, after the boring last few months, where we had all assumed Chelsea will win the league.

What would you do with this team?

    Panti, Foster
    Cawson, Terry, PVA, Naughton, Bellerin
    Silva, Hazard, Mane, Boyd, Alexis
    Giru, Kane, Kun

    1FT, 0.3ITB

    A) Foster -> Davis or someone else?
    B) Naughton/Bellerin -> Schlupp/Toby
    C) Mane or Kun out? For whom?
    D) Save FT

    Cheers

2FT's what to do? I don't like having 2 City and 2 Spurs in my attack when both teams are not exactly performing.. more pressing issues though

    Ospina / Myhill
    Ivan, Clyne, Wollsc*, Naughton*, PvA
    Haz, Sanchez, Silva, Eriksen, Ibe*
    Giroud, Aguero, Kane

All the United doubters need to have a look at LvG's title winning Bayern side. First season as well, started slow and then barely dropped a point once it all clicked late on in the season.

    Sound familiar? 👿

Fickle my ass. We made it hard on ourselves for a good six months. I appreciate where we are now but much of LvG's tinkering was down to an infuriating mix of arrogance and stubbornness.

I just like how you're now talking about 'United doubters' and distancing yourself from that doubt by citing the obvious pattern of an LvG team. Not trying to start an argument or even suggest you were wrong to be cynical before and pleased now - it's typical of the attitude of pretty much any fan, that's my point.

Oh no I'm not denying that. That's football. I hope you didn't take my comment the wrong way. Not saying I was right all along. Just that we put in six months of subpar performances which never in any way, shape or form resembled an LvG team. And then overnight we're playing Barca stuff.

It certainly tested my patience, mainly Rooney in CM. I was always of the mind that we would make top four but if not LvG should be sacked. The FILOSHOFEE joke Ryan and I carry on is a testament to just how sudden and out of nowhere our turnaround was.

                Funny game football.

on hindsight, Arsenal's series of injuries actually benefits them

they have fresh players returning from injuries to step in and carry the team forward

unlike Chelsea, same players again and again, its exhausting

I'd say Herrera is first choice at this point. He's doing what has been asked of him by LvG and is getting goals from midfield - something we've been sorely lacking.

                    Rojo is first choice CB.

Shaw is going to be first choice LB long term but while we're playing 4-1-4-1 and Carrick is playing in front of the back 4 Blind is playing LB and doing a great job of it too.

Fair enough. But there have been too many second-grade players brought in by LVG, leading to scenarios such as Herrera/ADM in midfield, Blind/Shaw at LB and Rooney/RVP/Falcao in attack. The best team we're seeing now is when he's been left with one option in the aforementioned positions.

150m should have been spent a lot more wisely. It could have brought in two Bale's for Christ's sake.

Falcao is looking like a flop - agreed. I don't see us converting his loan to a transfer but because it's just a loan it hasn't put us in such a bad position.

Blind is being lined up as a Carrick replacement who can do a job elsewhere so a decent signing for the money.

Shaw will hopefully be a long term LB for the club but only if he stops being so injury ravaged.

Herrera is starting to show his worth and will be first choice come next season in central midfield.

ADM is an interesting one. No doubt it was a huge outlay of money and he hasn't really returned it yet. I'd like to see him given another go next season but we need to find the right position for him. If PSG come in with an offer where we don't lose much I wouldn't be too sad to see him go if we reinvest.

Rojo - first choice LB, still have to see how solid he will be.

Potentially not, and I did think the same about Herrera (considering we went for him before).

But at the end of the day we can only speculate over things like that until the Biographies start coming out so for now I just take it as anyone signed this season was because of the big man 🙂

Only Blind and Rojo were LvG signings. Rather obvious I think. He even said he OK'd Herrera and Shaw at the WC. As if that's what his focus was at that moment.

        It's not that amazing really.

We've had a ton of injuries this season - especially over the first half. A lot of the damage for the league was actually done in September. We've competed since then in terms of points gained.

Additionally we brought in a lot of new players and have a new manager so they need time to bed in.

We're 1 point behind 2nd place now, come a long way since August. A few more solid transfers next season and who knows.

It depends if you think injuries are down to luck are managerial incompetency. How LVG spent 150m pounds and then decided that his best team consisted of none of them bar Blind demonstrates sheer inability though.

dimaria is 2nd assists in table .
Blind has played really well .

Rojo and shaw have been not bad not good will play good next season.

Falcao has been a disaster but hes on loan .

I just tend to say things most fans won't about their own team. You knew Mata behind Falcao and RvP with Rooney and Adm in CM was madness as well. You just wouldn't say it.

I always maintained that Mata is an excellent player and should be involved. I wasn't happy about RVP, Falcao and Rooney all being in the same team but I was also aware that LVG was still figuring things out. Had to think long term and remain positive.

So you're telling me the thought that the old man is past it never entered your mind? Come on now...

I was never anti Mata though. Always said he could be a good player for us on the wing in the 433 or 4231. But he was absolutely useless in the 352 and 442 diamond and that was not going to change.

No, I always had faith in his philosophy having read it. It was about seeing it carried out on the pitch. Only recently has it started to happen and thats as a result of numerous factors which have been well talked about. The jury is still out perhaps, will LVG keep things as they are? or bring back RVP and ADM? so far he's proven that he's prepared to bench the big names for the sake of his philosophy.

Well fair fecks to ya. I read it too and I got excited about the guy as well. But four months in most of the stuff we were playing was worse to watch than last season. And his selections were so blatantly contrary to the filoshofee as well.

Jury still out yes but the most encouraging thing was just to see the filoshofee finally take shape on the pitch. It's all about the filoshofee. And now that he's seen it click I don't see him changing anything unless needs must.

If Costa's not completely fit for the DGW, I can't see a better option than Aggy till the end of a season (Given that you already own Kane and Giroud and Austin's fixtures getting really shite from now on)

    Bellerin - Clyne - Toby - Azpi - Dawson
    Eriksen - Hazard - Ozil - Silva - Boyd
    Aguero - Kane - Austin

    1 FT, 5.4m ITB.

Thinking of taking out Austin for Remy (or maybe Sturridge).

As a non-Arsenal attacker owner there's only really 2 choices for me:

      Kane or Hazard.

I'll be going with Sir Harry.

For someone that has owned Hazard since GW1 I have such a tendancy to overlook him for captain. That will change in GW34....

I've generally played Hazard as my vc, always someone more appealing yet he's the top points scorer in Fpl,
I noticed Doosra has held rank nicely with Hazard locked in (c) (as he hasn't made transfers for a while)
At times captaining Eden seems unfashionable even dirty-but he's been staring me in the face all along Andy.

Miserable GW for non-Austin owners - need to retaliate for the DGW's!
Who would be your priorities to ship this GW or next out of

    A) Eriksen
    B) Aguero
    C) Terry (as I have Ivan and might want to make room for Remy or Fabregas for DGW)

and who would be the form + fixture (including GW33!) player to get before wildcarding in GW35/36:

    1) Murray
    2) Puncheon
    3) Sigurdsson
    4) Remy
    5) Ki
    6) Mata
    7) Herrera
    8) Fellaini
    9) Bertrand
    10) Jagielka (price + fixtures!)
    11) Naughton
    12) Huth or other Leicester defender

Terry -> Bertrand could be good. Only worried Sot'on form might slip, possibly getting Davis in as second GK would be better as I already have Alderweireld. Quite temted by Jagielka actually, as they have really kind fixtures and Everton seem to somewhat have got their act together finally.

Best route here before a GW34 WC?

    A)
    GW32: Benteke -> Gomis
    GW33: Sinclair -> Puncheon

    B)
    GW32: Benteke -> Berahino
    GW33: Sinclair -> Siggy

    Myhill
    Terry, Berty, PVA, Bellerin, Haidara
    Sanchez, Hazard, Silva, Eriksen, Sinclair
    Aguero, Kane, Benteke

    Bank 0.1m, 1FT

I have a very cliche story about how I ended up being a United fan.

My uncle bought me a shirt when I was 5 (I still have it) and used to sit me down to watch United. This sort of just continued as I grew up. Even though your team isn't from where you live you can't just stop supporting them once you've grown up with it.

Maybe the titles did help as I was growing up to keep me interested - it's not something I can ever really know without getting a time machine.

Funnily enough - my uncle stopped supporting United as I grew up and now hates football 🙂

Thats harsh. For me I became a United fan when Chelsea and Arsenal were the dominant sides. I liked the romantic notion of United developing young players and thus I became a fan. SAF was also a manager I liked. Not necessarily a result of success.

Why not the smaller sides you say? Well being on the far corner of the world no one has even heard of Bolton, Fulham and Charlton. There were really only a handful of options available. Obviously teams involved in Champions league had more TV coverage so it was only a choice between those sides.

    Hey guys, any advice?

    2FT 0.0ITB (WC left)

    Foster* // Myhill
    Terry // Fonte // Rose // Zouma // PVA
    Hazard // Silva // Özil // Eriksen // Moses
    Kun // Giroud // Kane

I feel like I need to sell Zouma this week and then use 2FTs next week to move Giroud & Özil before Arsenal's blank. However, there doesn't seem to be any standout options in defense for max 4.6. I'm likely gonna WC for GW35 so I'm only looking at GWs 32-34. Leicester seems like the only team with cheap enough defenders and no GW33 blank. Additionally Leicester have DGW34.

So Zouma --> De Laet/Sclupp my best bet?

You may as well get Dawson in - you'll get 2 games out of him before WC. You could bring Ivan in so you have triple CHS for the dgw now that Costa is out.

How do we think UNited will line up when RVP's back? I'd like to think he'd stay on the bench (even for the great striker he is) but with LVG's love for RVP, do we think he will keep him on the bench?

Well, picking Benteke over Austin this week hasn't gone that well (so far). Plus Panti+PVA on the bench laughing at me.

Been uber casual these past 2 weeks, trying to get back in the flow of things. Thoughts on this lot? Good to save?

    Ivanovic Clyne PVA
    Sanchez Hazard Eriksen Mane
    Kun(ugh) Giroud Benteke

Since I have to take a hit before GW33 to get 11 players out, would you:

Kinda depends on who you'd replace them with HVT. I'd look to keep Giroud though. Sanchez can probably go but he'd be nice to have for one more week. Debuchy is back from injury I think so it might be worth selling Bellerin now.

You'd want Giroud and Sanchez against Burnley. With the risk of being benched you might as well rid yourself of Bellerin despite the high probability of a clean sheet if he starts.

    4. Mr. Grv
      • 9 Years

I wont take any of them out because theres always a possiblity that the one you take out is gonna be in points

I think I'd keep Giroud ahead of Sanchez but would find it tough to make a call on either.

As for Bellerin I asked this question on Twitter recently - I'm not hugely convinced he will lose his spot straight away to Debuchy. He's been playing really well and has potentially played his way to 1st choice, at least for the remainder of the season.

Can Arsene really drop Bellerin this week? After, scoring (again) and being solid both defensively and in attack?
Surely he starts, and Wenger (if at all) brings on Debuchy 80+ mins?

Problem is long term I'm not sure I'd risk him for the double even if he does continue to start, might get a rest with Debuchy on hand.

I think I'll get rid before the double to concentrate on attacking players but as mentioned above I'm not convinced he will be dropped straight away
