The ScoutCast – Episode 165 – Wildboys

Tempted into dealing our Wildcards by yet another “mediocre” Gameweek, Granville and I go through almost the entire episode before Jonty reveals he’s weakened and gone “active”. It’s a revelation that almost has us both logging off and reaching for our own panic buttons.

Before that dramatic finale, we find salvation via another bout of “rough the smooth”, cheering ourselves with tales of Gameweek totals which dip below even our miserable tallies.

We also take a further round of community questions, forcing me to “fess up” on Theo Walcott, while Granville laments Wayne Rooney’s form and the three of us tackle the merits of Mahrez, Ozil and loading up on City assets.

This episode was originally broadcast live on Monday using Google Hangouts via our YouTube channel. Be sure to subscribe to our channel to get notifications of future live episodes.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

What do we reckon are the chances of McCarthy permanently ousting Speroni?

I wouldn't be surprised as I think Palace have been looking to replace Speroni for a while. Padew is the one who brought McCarthy in rather than inheriting him like Hennessey. As long as there aren't any blunders in the next few weeks I think he'll get an extended run.

    finishing my WC.

    need feedback:

    Wanyama + Payet (have Sakho)
    or
    Hoolahan + Ayew

Hoolahan/ Wanyama will most likely be on my bench at all time.
So question is more if Payet will outscore Ayew, and issues about double up on WestHam

I'd go with a 4.5, but Westwood rather than Wanyama as he is much less likely to price drop (and may well rise if.he grts a few more attacking returns)

    Morning all,

Any thoughts on the below WC team?

    Butland / McCarthy

    Kolarov / Richards / Ward / Smith / S Taylor

    Hazard / Sanchez / Ayew / Mahrez / Toure

    Kone / Aguero / Gomis

    0.0ITB

I know the defense is a bit weak but i really think Either Hazard or Sanchez will explode soon. Obviously need Kun as well...

    Plan is to play 3 - 5 -2

    1. Tiamani Warrior

I dunno if kone will play every game. may as well get a 4.5 to make the defence a little better?

      1. EspanYOLO
        • 10 Years
        8 years, 9 months ago

Yeah I thought that, the problem is I can't really think of a 5.0 priced defender that I really want..

        Unless I upgrade one of the 4.0 rated defenders to a 4.5 / 4.6

        Maybe Smith to Gomez?

        1. Tiamani Warrior

            Done.

            Updated team as follows:

            Butland / McCarthy

            Kolarov / Richards / Ward / Gomez / S Taylor

            Hazard / Sanchez / Ayew / Mahrez / Toure

            Kone / Aguero / Gomis

            0.0ITB

            3-5-2

Play Ward this weekend then sub him out for Gomez the following week when Liverpool play West Ham at home and Palace go to Chelsea and Man City.

If Pedro or one of the 8.5 strikers like Benteke start scoring, I can do Toure / Kolorov out and bring them in relatively easy over a couple weeks or for a -4 hit.

            Sorted (hopefully...)

Trying to squeeze 0.2m out of my WC team to get to this:

    Myhill, McCarthy
    Kolarov, Dawson, Gomez, Richards, Muniesa
    Hazard, Sanchez, Yaya, Mahrez, Wanyama
    Aguero, Gomis, Sakho

Richards > Francis at 4.4 and Dawson to Fazio at 4.9 if nailed would do it.

I am not keen on the keepers - transfers and price drops waiting to happen.

Westwood over Wanyama to avoid potential price drops.

And now to answer your question lol: not keen on fazio, no idea if nailed and there are too many risky picks in the defence to justify the risk. I'd do gomis to diouf

      1. Fabio20
        • 11 Years

Agreed on keepers but I'm willing to take the risk for now.

May well pick Westwood over Wanyama, had him earlier this week.

Not keen on Fazio to be honest but quite keen to get Gomis with Swansea's attack firing although I do like the look of Diouf.

        Thanks.

did you read this on https://fpldiscovery?

on http://www.fantasyfootballfix.com/fpl_statistics/ it has 5-2-3 as the most owned players but that doesn't say what formation the top 1000 play

The 3rd striker could rotate with 5th midf, so you want someone viable. Regular starters can be picked up for 5.5

Top 1000 stats don't tell us much at this stage, will be a few months yet before the best players rise to the top

What does everyone think of Ritchie for Bournemouth? Watching the Liverpool game he looked very lively. Was influential in everything, hit the post even and looking at his numbers has had loads of touches in the box, chances created etc. He’s on set pieces, had a price drop and looking at the ticker his next 6 look very appealing. Thoughts as a differential who will start to kick on? I’m putting him in to free cash for Kun, can’t see what’s not to like.

I've just read a sky sports article on Gnabry. They suggest that he will get opportunities at West Brom. What do you guys think? He looked good in the brief glimpses I saw of him at Arsenal

The Captain Poll asks 'Who is the best captain this week'. I've always wondered,do people vote for the person they think is the best captain in isolation to their team (which I assume is the purpose) or in terms of who they have and they are captaining?

In any event,it's a strange week for captains imo. I have a feeling that Everton will turn up for one of their customary big home games, and while I think City should win,Aguero will be limited to a goal. If he scores and they win by a tight margin you're looking at a nice haul (especially in the points barren Wk1-2) of 16-18 as (C).

This week however is a great week to 'gamble' on the (C) imo. It's hardly a plum fixture for Aguero and I think options such as Sanchez/Rooney and even Payet offer potentially higher returns. Having watched Gomez struggle for Liverpool the other night,I think Sanchez could run riot and I certainly fancy Arsenal to put a couple past Liverpool at home. Rooney and flavour of the week Memphis have what we would generally consider a plum fixture in Newcastle at home. The proviso with this however is that Rooney is bang out of form and Memphis has scored two great goals against a godawful team in Brugge.

Sanchez is the best (C) for me,followed closely by Rooney/Memphis. Aguero is the safe option,no doubt about that, but his returns have a ceiling for me this week, where the other boys are only limited by their own form. I've got a sneaking suspicion that even if a goal goes in off his over-sized arse,Rooney is going to help himself to a couple of goals Saturday lunchtime.

Yeah,I mean it's not like he's played particularly bad, again,I think it's a great week to deviate from the norm in terms of (C).

Chelsea will continue to sputter slightly.but,I don't buy into all this meltdown garbage, they're one good game away from everyone talking them up as title contenders again imo.

      Well thought out.

Still I disagree with Kun and City in perticular. In amazing form, Kun with a lot of chances and touches in the box last week. I'm going with him and would not be amazed if he scored a brace. In fact I'd be more amazed if Rooney did!

Aguero has to be a good choice especially as if he does well this will be last week he'll be any kind of a differential but I'm sticking with MNF Sanchez

-Two aston villa defenders is never a good thing
-The 4m boys will quickly be dropped, Maybe just keep one?
-Rooney isn't worth the gamble.. Gamble with Depay if you want a united player?
