The Fantasy Football Scout Leagues Round-Up

With the final international break of the season now upon us, we’re afforded time to assess the leading contenders in the Fantasy Football Scout leagues across a variety of games. With leagues in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Ultimate Fantasy Premier League,Sky Sports and Sun Dream Team, there’s plenty to catch up on.

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE

Following an 80-point Gameweek, Chris Rigden maintained his one-point lead at the summit of our Scout League. Like all of the top five, the bulk of Chris’ haul can be attributed to handing Harry Kane the captain’s armband. Supplementing the Englishman’s efforts, Dele Alli, Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy and Dimitri Payet also delivered attacking returns. Clean sheets from Ashley Williams and Toby Alderweireld capped off a strong showing. Chris now stand on 1,915 points – enough to earn him eighth spot overall, just 23 points off the FPL summit.

Craig Ward retained second place by also posting an 80-point round. He fielded a very similar team to Chris but opted against defensive coverage from Tottenham Hotspur and instead profited from Christian Fuchs’ shut-out and maximum bonus points. Now up to twelfth overall in FPL, Craig’s decision to bench the likes of Aaron Cresswell and David Silva ultimately paid off in light of their unproductive outings.

Adrian Lockhart (77) and George Man (82) are neck and neck with a total score of 1,905 points. The former tripled up on Spurs assets but will rue his choice not to deploy Robert Huth in the starting XI. As for the latter, he benefited from a host of the usual suspects and a trio of defenders that all recorded clean sheets.

By virtue of tallying 88 points in the previous batch of fixtures, Panna Fricker sneaked into the top five. Although she elected to bench Hector Bellerin (12 points), Lukasz Fabianski proved to be a key differential as she climbed up to 29th overall.

Thanks to the performances of our top five, the Fantasy Football Scout league sits at the top of the Best Leagues as we look to retain our title once again.

FPL MEMBERS SCOUT LEAGUE

Chris Rigden also charts top of our Members’ League, boasting a 17-point lead over second-placed Andrew Dougan. Bellerin and Alexis Sanchez came up trumps for Andrew as he improved his overall standing with an 84-point return.

Ralf Buckenmaier notched 85 points to push himself into third position. Ralf benched all the right players and enjoyed a clean sweep of shut-outs from his backline.

In the wake of a mammoth 95-point Gameweek, Marsel Levi occupies fourth spot. Sanchez, Bellerin and Fuchs were his star performers beyond Kane.

Staying true to his team name (“Gettin’ Siggy Wit It”), Euan Thompson bestowed Sigurdsson with the captain’s armband. He consequently slipped to fifth in the rankings as many of his rivals plumped for Kane as captain.

ULTIMATE FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE

Courtesy of an 101-point Gameweek, Sultan Osman (2295) extended his lead at the peak of our Ultimate Fantasy Premier League table to 53 points.

With regards to the chasing pack, Panna Fricker, Mateusz Grzadzielewski and Sean Tobin are locked in a three-way tussle on 2242 points. Meanwhile, Stephen Wakefield (2235) propelled himself into fifth after chalking up 94 points.

To join this league, use the code: 1258-516.

SKY SPORTS FANTASY FOOTBALL

Resting on 2168 points, Alan Wood is a massive 181 points clear of second-placed Dexter Hayes (1987) and looks destined to claim the crown in our Scout League. Alan is also the overall number one in Sky and sits 122 points ahead of his nearest rival.

Elsewhere, Jonathon Bancroft (1985) is positioned just two points shy of Dexter in the bronze-medal berth.

Ranking top in the League of Leagues standings, we’re well on course to regain our title. To join this league use the league name: FFScout and the code: 8009000

SUN DREAM TEAM

Despite experiencing a middling Gameweek (58 points), David O Byrne (1850) remains the highest-charting player in our Sun leaderboard. The entirety of his back four registered clean sheets, but he suffered from Raheem Sterling’s injury and a no-show from Memphis Depay.

Jeff Payne (1824) shot into second place due to a 90-point round. The likes of Christian Eriksen and Daniel Sturridge furnished his outfit with a differential flavour that paid dividends. Four points back in the third slot, Jonathon Bancroft (1820) is banking on Arsenal to end the season on a high note, given that he’s recruited five players from the North London club.

Positioned fourth and fifth, respectively, Charles Mouzon (1800) and Colin Drury (1776) both managed 64 points in the last wave of match-ups. The former was hamstrung slightly by Diego Costa’s suspension and Roberto Firmino’s injury, while the latter will likely be planning an exit route for the out-of-favour Olivier Giroud.

    Thoughts for this WC 33 + BB 34 ?

    DDG - Elliot
    Smalling - Bellerin - Simpson - Sahko - Gabriel
    Ozil - Firmino - Payet - Mahrez - Coutinho
    Aguero - Kane - Rashford

Only 4 players blanking in 35, probably Kane -> Lukaku in GW 36...
    Just unsure about Rashford...

I like it, unsure about rashford too and brought in Lingard to have Utd cover. Lukaku looks essential, so does Kane (especially since I'm leading my ML and everyone has him).

Cheers, yeah looking a fixtures i felt like Lukaku isn't essential until GW 36, where' i'd get him in for Kane who's getting tougher fixtures... But also leading in ML so probably should hold onto him !!

Not allowed to buy drink tomorrow in Ireland...

...biggest day of the year for off-licences in Ireland today.

    Slightly counter-productive.

Good Friday, it amuses me every year, we fully embrace the alcoholic stereotype every year for the Thursday beforehand.

"Holy sh!t the pubs are closed tomorrow, what if we need a drink?"
"You probably won't need a drink.."
        "YOU DON'T KNOW THAT!"

aaand the off-licence is raided. Everyone buys drink on the Thursday before Good Friday, every year, if I was the owner of an off licence I'd double my prices today.

Anyways, enough of that, off to the... shop... *cough*

Some people could use a day off in Ireland I think 😀 I've been there last month, totally different than in Belgium. When we go out here, things start around 11pm and finish around 5-6am, but in Dublin I saw so many drunk people at 8pm already 😀

Nice city though with the Irish pubs!

I think your overestimating Rafa, Newcastles game's are going to be ridiculously open in there attempts to get goals, they have no defensive coverage in the midfield and against teams like SOU, SWA, MCI and LIV they will be badly smothered in the midfield with no counter attack cover and all those teams have nasty counter attacks and lethal finishers.

Hmm, a fair bit - here's my WC team as it stands:

          Migs / DDG
Bellerin Janmaat Rojo Jevans [Man City 5.3]
          Ozil Mahrez Payet Gradel Lingard
          Lukaku Kun Kane

Gradel becomes Milner for DGW, leaves me with 0.6 or so ITB...

I know, but I don't like the fixture pile up Liverpool have. I can see that a Firmino / Cout pick would only actually give you one game because Liverpool are playing Dortmund 3 days before the Bournemouth game. I'm sure that one or both will be rested and Klopp will play a lesser team before playing the full team for Everton. Hence Migs seems essential to fulfil both fixtures, and boring Milner is likely to play the 180mins too.

Sanchez - yep, totally agree. Will "make do" with Ozil, but I'm more than likely to make a last hurrah with Sanchez this week, bringing him in for Eriksen as my punt.

I just can't see past that front 3 for the rest of the season. Could well be my downfall!

              Thanks guys 🙂

              See above r.e. Liverpool fixtures.

Door totally open for either to stake a claim, but I'm worried about the following pile up and what it means for Firmino/Coutinho playing in the EPL:

              07/04 - Dortmund (a)
              10/04 - GW33, Stoke
              14/04 - Dortmund (h)
              17/04 - GW34 Bournemouth
              20/04 - GW34 Everton

5 games in 13 days! Can't see Firmino or Coutinho playing both GW34 games, though it obviously depends if Dortmund totally bazunga them in the UEL on 7th. If Liverpool are still in it after that fixture I won't be investing too much in them!

Yeah IM I keep thinking that - the big numbers are so alluring, but if I don't tweak it for things like actual % chance of playing (I'd bloody love Coutinho or Firmino but it's a bit of a gamble cos I don't see either starting the Stoke game, and would prefer others for a DGW!) it'll fall on it's face!

You can't see Elliot keeping a clean sheet at home to Swansea or City?

City have scored 13 away goals all season (3 on the opening day) and Swansea have not been much better.

No I don't at all. Not only do Newcastle of an awful defence but they can't afford to sit back in either game, relegation is very likely... they will be pressing all game and City will punish them on the counter. A Swansea clean sheet is possible but still unlikely with Siggy's recent form.

You are really overestimating Newcastle here, City need 4th place before Pep joins, City want this more than Newcastle considering most of there players would just leave if they got relegated.

I think you are overestimating City.

They have 10 goals in their last 13 away games for a reason. Where was their desire against Norwich? Or even United?

You could argue that several City players will be on their way out and do not care about getting top 4.

Newcastle will improve defensively under Rafa, and with the return of missing defensive players.

Swansea are on a high but looked toothless against Villa. I expect their form to change again.

DGW Keepers: Seen a lot of DDG / Elliot combos - how about Cech / Robles - Cech great fix and Robles 2x DGW with Howard only likely to play GW38 as a send-off....thoughts?

Cech a good shout, but Bellerin has a much higher points ceiling

Most won't double on ARS defence with Ozil, Sanchez, Welbeck available

Despite all of Everton's extra matches, can't see Robles getting much from them. They are leaky

      From Inception Wiki:

Asserting that his employer, Cobol Engineering, wouldn't accept failure, Cobb threw Saito on the floor and demanded that he tell them what they needed to know about his expansion project. With his face pressed into the carpet, Saito began to laugh and revealed that he was familiar with the material of the carpet; it was supposed to be made of wool instead of polyester, thus, he came to the conclusion that he was actually still dreaming.

      You're welcome.

Could do with some feedback please!
Please pick a team. (Both -4, non WC)
    A: (0.0itb)
    Ddg * (Henna)
    Kos* / Otamendi / Bellerin (Simpson/Wolly)
Lanzini * / Özil (TC) / Payet / Firminho (Mahrez)
    Kane * / Aguero (VC) / Lukaku

    B : (0.3itb)
    Henna * (Butters)
    Rojo * / Otamendi / Bellerin (Simpson/Wolly)
Sanchez *(TC) / Ozil (VC) / Payet (Mahrez)
    Ighalo * / Aguero / Lukaku

    So main differences are:
    A - Ddg/Kos/Lanzini/Kane (Özil/Aguero TC)
    B - Henna/Rojo/Sanchez (TC)/Ighalo

    Any feedback much appreciated?

      Hey HVT

I like A much more, I'd advocate keeping Kane all year because he's the main striker in a title chasing team who is currently on fire, plus you'd be totally screwed by the amount of people who have already wildcarded / aren't wildcarding yet who comprise his effective ownership if he performs, either on DGW or outside it.

I really like Ozil at TC - one assist = 12 points. So if he gets an assist per Arsenal game, and gets the 3 bonus plus a cleanie, shall we say, you've got 9 points per game base rate = 27 points per game = 54 point TC, not bad.

Wish I could do it, but I'm probably going to BB first then TC on Payet in GW37.

          No worries dude.

Not really sure, can see why you might be thinking about it - you're in a less cut-and-dried sitch than someone like me because you have a solid DGW team in which you can play a lot of DGWers plus TC without having to wildcard; I only have 3 DGW players currently so I'm forced into doing it.

          Depends really on your judgement.
For me: TC could be a really potent weapon this DGW, BUT the same could be said for GW37. However, I do not think BB will be a good chip in GW37 due to the uncertainty regarding players starting / rotation / tiredness / teams with no motivation but I do think it will be an excellent option at 34, where things are a little more predictable in terms of who is still up for it.
Ergo, my logic dictates I play BB on 34 (which relies on teams playing) and TC on 37 (which relies on 1 individual player playing plus having a solid array of first team)

Of course you can disagree with this. But I'm minded to maximise the first set of fixtures cos there's a bit more in their favour than the second set and Bench Boost actually could be really potent if maximised to full effect.

Up to you, though - as I said, you have a decent DGW34 team in mind that you can reach from your current crop, so it just depends on your thoughts on WC36 like some are advocating here 🙂

Excellent answer thanks, and I are with most you say.
I was on WC 33 but changed when I realised how close I was to a decent 9/10 out.
Kane V Sanchez is my big dilemma really, it's one or the other, something tells me Samchez May outscore Kane between now and the eno the season with extra/better fixtures I feel.

              No worries mate!

I'd be tempted to stick Sanchez in tbh and then use your wildcard to later get Kane in for the later dgw.

I will have to keep Kane throughout - I got him an 9.something in gw8 and wouldn't be able to afford him if I sold him on my WC!

My WC draft currently looks like this:

    Mignolet, Robles
    Bellerin, Gabriel, Simpson, Ogbonna, Rojo
    Payet, Ozil, Coutinho, Firmino, Mahrez,
    Aguero, Martial and Kane

I'm toying with GK changes, and unsure about Ogbonna, Rojo and Gabriel. Alot will depend on who looks set for consistent games and is free of injury by then. I was looking at DGW, Elliot, Sakho and Cathcart for Mignolet, Robles, Rojo and Ogbonna earlier.

If you are keen on wham def then try and get cresswell in (im trying as well) i think hes due a goal from his attacking threat in recent games!

I'm not sold on your two keeps both have a lot of fixtures left but I'm not sure they will equate to points. I think a ddg/ cech and Elliot combo is better!

I was also looking at Cathcart but Watford motivation is low in the league and they have their fa cup fixture between gw33 and 34 which may mean an injury and rotation! They will also be focused on the fa cup so i think Cathcart will on be a sgw anyway.

Gabriel wont play both games and may cause you problems for following weeks so id ignore him!

I think lukaku is a must as he has more fixtures than anyone else and rotation is unlikely! Martial is a good option for gw34 but perhaps swap back to Kane for gw35 for the brom game (i may do this)

I have a similar team but ill only have one Liverpool mid and keep alli

Cheers - I'd love Cresswell but can't afford it.

As an Everton fan, I'm not sold on us. Lukaku will come in GW 36 but I'm not too confident in us against a generally solid Southampton and Liverpool away. We are historically terrible against Liverpool and have the Semi a few days after.

Gabriel is a big risk but his price is so attractive.

The issue with the DGW and Elliot combo is gw 33 and 35 - It's either De Gea (Spurs away) or Elliot (South away) in 33 or Elliot away to Liverpool in 35.

I saw a comment on here about three Arsenal players and I was wondering what's likely to get you more points?

I was set on Ozil, Sanchez + Bellerin or Koscielny but the GW35 blanks and other alternatives in midfield are leading me to consider two defenders and one of Ozil + Sanchez.

What do you think is better?
    A. Two defenders and one attacking player or
    B. One defender and two attacking players ?

My not-so-short-shortlist is like this at the moment:

        Ozil - Sanchez - Firmino - Coutinho - Milner - Payet - Lanzini - De Bruyne - Silva - Wijnaldum - Lingard - Mahrez.

Obviously there a few problems here. Silva is unlikely to make my team while triple west ham (with a defender) is a no-go because of the blanks. So it's Lanzini or Payet.

KDB better be fit, that would help a lot but I'm not sure about how that would work funds wise.

My ideal midfield would look something like this Sanchez - Firmino - Coutinho - Payet and one of Alli / Mahrez.

            • 8 Years
            8 years, 1 month ago

There is some debate about that, I it seems unlikely. That's why KDB is such as big factor. He would go in my team straight away, and I would go with the most likely starter out of Coutinho/Firmino. Milner is also a decent option, and he can run for days and is pretty reliable while also on penalties (if Sturridge or Henderson don't take them away from him) and some set pieces (same story, different players).

Liverpool have also been unlucky defensive wise (well not really considering Toure plays in some games) but they have conceded a lot of goals with their first shot on target. And they are scoring a lot of goals right now, which seems the way to go if you keep on conceding them.

So yeah, I am likely tripling up on Liverpool players. Besides, it's a game and my rank at 105K is gonna need a boost if I want to win this thing 😉

    Defence for this week is:

    Fabianski (Elliot)
    Bellerin Simpson Wollscheid (VVD Toby)

    1FT, 1.7m ITB. Which move?

    (A) Fabianski to Cech
    (B) Fabianski to Courois
    (C) VVD to Koscielny
    (D) VVD to Ivanovic

I kind of came up with this for gw33, not sure how i feel about this dodgy defense 😀

    Elliot / Mignolet
    Rojo / GABRIEL / Reid / Huth / Cathcart
    Sanchez / Ozil / Firmino / Payet / Mahrez
    Kane / Kun / Lukaku

    0.0 itb 😀

Rest of the squad is hot butter! how about a pure bench fodder defender and upgrade another. Its Rojo/Gabriel nailedness that would worry me. I'd want Smalling and/or DDG or no united back line at all. same for Ars. Bellerin/Kosc and/or Cech or no one else.

makes absolute sense to be fair. I just dont think Smalling is worth it. Only would play for DGW and would ship for IVAN after that. I do think Rojo is an issue, same as Gabriel. The rest are pretty much nailed on. If this goes through, that would be a perfect WC team in my eyes.

Be tempted to remove Sanchez for Bellerin and then re-allocate the remaining cash, Prophet. As much as I love the double Arsenal you can see that your defence gets decimated by it lol

(You must have a helluva SV to afford that team, btw - if I try to replicate your front 8 it I end up with a backline of 3x BOU, Fosu Mensah and Rangel lol)

    Hi all

Just been playing in the members' area with RMT and seeing how it predicts my total points will be for DGW34 and it got me thinking: what's the MINIMUM number of points you'd be happy with on your wildcard, assuming you're planning to wield it 1 week prior to a DGW (either 34 or 37) then boost up using a chip.

    100? 120? 150?

I'd say I'm hoping for 175+ but would be just about okay with something around 135-40.

    What about you?

Well, if you assume 60pts as the benchmark for a decent normal GW, that's effectively 5 pts per player per match (as effectively you normally play with 12 players (11+1 for captain)), so on a DGW BB with 15 x DGW player you effectively have 32 players (15+1 for captain, x 2 matches) so would say you would be looking at 160 points (32 x 5) being a benchmark for a good DGW with BB.

    Humour me..

    DDG + Klose + Coutinho
    out for
    Ruddy + CBJ + KdB

(1 TLA out for 2 TLAs)

    REASONING
    - Not 100% convinced by Coutinho.
    - Would ONLY be playing DDG for the DGW, prefer Elliot otherwise, who rotates better with Ruddy.
    - CBJ could come in for 1 easy game in the DGW, otherwise can rot on my bench at 3.8m

    Mental?
