Paddy Says – Gameweek 36

With the title race and relegation scrap building to a crescendo, Fantasy Football managers are attempting to eek out the last remaining opportunities to gain rank and ground on rivals. We turn once again to Paddy Power to give us a fresh perspective on matters, tossing more variables into the decision-making mix.

Before we scan Paddy’s odds for Anytime Goalscorer and Clean Sheets, a reminder that, if you’ve yet to get yourself an account, our bookmaker partner offers regular weekend deals to new customers, loaded with enhanced odds.

This weekend is no different with odds of 16/1 available in their “European Acca” should you fancy wins for Bayern Munich (vs Borussia Monchengladbach), Dortmund (vs Wolfsburg), West Ham (at West Brom) and Arsenal (vs Norwich).

Sunday offers a host of boosted bets, starting with odds of 7/1 on a Liverpool win over Swansea at the Liberty in the day’s early kick-off (regular odds 6/5). That’s followed by huge odds of 12/1 on an historic Leicester victory at Old Trafford (regular odds 12/5).

You can also get 10/1 on a Southampton win over Man City, or double up on Sunday wins for Manchester City and Leicester with odds of 25/1.

Finally, if you fancy a flutter in Monday night’s encounter, you can pick up odds of 7/1 on a Tottenham win over Chelsea at the Bridge.

Be sure to check the terms and conditions on all those offers and, of course, we should state that all these specials are only available to those aged 18. If you’re going to wager, always gamble responsibly.

Arsenal’s home tie against Norwich City makes them the standout option for Paddy this weekend, elevating the in-form Alexis Sanchez to the top of their goalscorer reckoning to mimic the opinion of our current Captain Poll. The Chilean is given short odds of 1.57 for an anytime strike against the Canaries, having scored in four of his last five starts. He will also be engaging Norwich defence that has conceded six goals in their previous trio of outings. Elsewhere in the Gunners’ squad, Olivier Giroud (1.83), Danny Welbeck (1.83) and Theo Walcott (2.20) also chart in Paddy’s top 10 with Paddy anticipating a comfortable Arsenal win.

Although Romelu Lukaku (1.72) posted blanks in his last five starts, Everton’s maligned marksman is priced down at 1.72 for the Goodison encounter with Bournemouth. The bookmaker is clearly wary of the fact that the Cherries have shipped 14 goals in their last five league fixtures.

Harry Kane can be snapped up at odds of 1.83 ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s trip to Stamford Bridge. The league’s top scorer has notched eight goals in his last seven league appearances and generally thrives in the capital, having tallied 14 goals in 18 London derbies. However, we obviously have to be aware of the impact of a potential Leicester City win at Old Trafford 24-hours earlier.

Despite netting in his last five starts, Sergio Aguero (2.00) places an unfamiliar sixth in Paddy’s current assessment. The City striker will be tasked with breaching a Southampton rearguard that’s failed to record a clean sheet in nine outings as he gives chase to Kane in the race for the Golden Boot.

Watford’s strike duo, Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney, come in at 2.10 for their home clash against Aston Villa. The visitors have conceded four or more goals on four occasions across their last 10 match-ups, which should motivate the hosts to dispel their recent FA Cup semi-final defeat and break a dry spell in front of goal.

Having been rested during Liverpool’s midweek Europa League showdown, Daniel Sturridge (2.25) sneaks onto the table. The former Chelsea recruit graced the scoresheet in each of his previous four starts and is pitted against a Swansea City back line that were put to the sword by Leicester City last Gameweek. Much depends, of course, on his chances of starting Sunday’s early kick-off, with Jurgen Klopp potentially turning to Christian Benteke (2.40) to lead the line as he prepares the Reds for Thursday’s Europa League second leg tie with Villareal.

CLEAN SHEET ODDS – GAMEWEEK 36

West Ham2.50
Sunderland3.10
Liverpool3.20

Arsenal (1.90) have notched four clean sheets in their previous six fixtures and will welcome a Norwich unit that has drawn blanks in four of their last six outings – it’s no real surprise to see the Gunners sitting atop Paddy’s clean sheet odds.

Watford rank next, despite claiming just a single shut-out in their last seven. Nonetheless they face a beleaguered Aston Villa outfit that has failed to score in five of their past seven league clashes.

Manchester United (2.40) still boast the best home defence (seven goals conceded) and have shipped just once in their previous five matches. That being said, they’ll do well to stifle a buoyant Foxes side that have carded eight goals in their last three matches and who will surely be going all out for the win that would seal the title.

Newcastle and West Ham United are both pitched at 2.50 for a Gameweek clean sheet. The Magpies play host to Crystal Palace, who have tallied just two goals in their previous four encounters. Meanwhile, the Hammers search for their first shut-out in six when they travel to a West Bromwich Albion side that’s scored in just two of their previous six.

Sunderland have shifted in from 3.20 to 3.10 overnight for their trip to Stoke City. The Black Cats have tightened up of late, claiming three shut-outs in their last four and conceding just four goals in six.

Liverpool are handed odds of 3.20 for a clean sheet in their trip to the Liberty – Klopp’s side have kept just one shut-out in seven and look certain to shuffle their defence ahead of Thursday’s Villareal clash.

Hi again. Which one to bench ?

    KDB (sou) or Lanzini (wba)

Worth -4 to switch KDB to Fabregas / Willian / Pedro?
I'm, btw, on -4 at the moment.

KdB has rarely started in the league during this UCL-prem league run of games, & 2nd leg is 2 days away, it would be daft for pellegrini to start KdB

Jürgen Klopp said: “[His debut] was really good. Especially with no rhythm, playing like that was impressive.

“I have had no final talk to [goalkeeping coach] John Achterberg but I could say it’s maybe likely that he will play at Swansea.

“I’m not sure in this moment because I don’t know how he feels – he had the same trip [to Villarreal] without the game. We need to have a look at this.

“But he will have one or the other game until the end of the season because of the intensity of our schedule. Even the goalkeeper has an intensive time.”

        50-60% chance Ward plays imo.

    Current team
    Robles - Darlow
    Sakho* - Clyne* - Simpson - Gabriel* - Bellerin
    KDB* - Payet - Mahrez - Lingard - Sanchez
    Defoe - Aguero - Kane
    1 ft 1.1 itb

    A) Sakho -- > Reid (would allow me to contemplate whether or not to get Haz/Cesc for KDB during the DGW)
    B) Sakho --> Cresswell (would not allow me to get Hazard next week)
    C) KDB --> Lanzini
    D) KDB --> Hazard
