Monitor – Christian Benteke

Christian Benteke had a tough time last season. Despite moving to Liverpool for £32.5 million from Aston Villa, the striker was cast aside by Jurgen Klopp in his effort to find a centre forward capable of bringing his gegenpressing approach to Merseyside.

However, Benteke has re-emerged on the radar of Fantasy managers following his move to Crystal Palace.

Having scored a textbook headed opener against Middlesbrough in Palace’s 2-1 win on Teesside, Benteke’s FPL price tag of 7.5 is likely to attract suitors drawn to his power in the air.

There are plenty reasons why that’s the case.

Although Liverpool seemed hesitant to use Benteke’s aerial strength to their advantage, Crystal Palace already appear to be building an attacking approach based around it. This suggests he could be on course to become an outstanding third striker option over the coming season.

      Good prospects, on corners and freekicks. If Hull are getting goals, there's a good chance he'll play a part in them. Hopefully he won't have any injury problems this season... Just returned from 15 months out though so I feel like it's inevitable.

      So far I have been pleasantly surprised at his quality. Definitely on the medium term watchlist. Seems a bit like the steady steady type rather than any explosive haul upside type but that's good since you need a blend of both.

    Methinks people are getting slightly carried away with Lukaku, Sunderland were absolutely awful last week and Lukaku should have had 5.

    Following around Moyes with whatever big striker plays Sunderland could be a good strategy, like how a lot of us followed Villa around last season.

    For those saying Austin is razor sharp and should play every minute can I just say that I've seen him play every minute this season and he has been a lump. Poor touch, little pace and awful finishing. Tonight he has been OK, took his second goal well but looks knackered now and has stopped running. He still has a lot to prove to Saints fans.

        Congrats on the UEFA win PKW. Didn't fancy my chances when I knew you where wildcarding, I kind of sacrificed my place to keep my wildcard but to be honest even if I had wildcarded as well I think you would likely have beat me. Good luck in the rest of the competition
