Paddy Says – Gameweek 8

With the international break finally over, it’s time to rush back to the bosom of Paddy Power’s weekend odds.

Before we take a look at the prices for anytime scorers and clean sheets, we need to take a peek at Paddy’s weekly tempters for new customers opening an account.

This week’s enhanced new customer offers include two sets of generous odds surrounding Monday’s massive match-up between Liverpool and United.

If you’re tipping Klopp and the Kop, then you could go for Liverpool to win at 6-1, or if Jose’s the way, you can get 12-1 on a United victory.

Chelsea entertain Leicester on Saturday lunchtime, and the Foxes’ dodgy away form – played three, lost three, 10 goals conceded – makes 4-1 on a Chelsea win look well worth a punt.

If you fancy a longer shot than that, there’s 10-1 available for West Ham to record their first away win of the season in the evening kick-off at Palace.

And betting on Man City, Arsenal and Spurs all to win is available at 9-1.

Be sure to check the terms and conditions on all those offers and, of course, we should state that all these specials are only available to those aged 18. If you’re going to wager, always gamble responsibly.

The usual Aguero and Sanchez-shaped suspects occupy the short-odds spots in the anytime goalscorer charts this week – providing little guidance to those still debating the captaincy issue.

Paddy have the City striker just ahead of the Chilean, but at 1.50 and 1.57, there’s little to separate the pair.

Elsewhere, the 2.29 on Zlatan Ibrahimovic to break his three-match drought in the league looks competitive.

The Swede leads the way for attempts (16) and is second for penalty area touches (30) during that time, and he will be up against a Liverpool defence that hasn’t kept a clean sheet all season.

Christian Benteke, at 2.20, also looks good for goals. He has three in his last four league outings, hit a hat-trick for Belgium in midweek and is up against a West Ham ‘defence’ that’s shipped three or more goals in four of their last five matches.

There are some very enticing longer odds on offer this week as well.

Tottenham’s Heung-Min Son, with four goals in as many matches, is at 2.87 to do the business at West Brom, having continued his fine scoring form for South Korea during the international break, while Southampton’s Dusan Tadic (3.00) scored in both Serbia’s matches and will be up against a Burnley defence that’s lost both of their away matches 3-0 this season.

Romelu Lukaku (five goals in his last four Everton starts) and Troy Deeney, who has three in four for Watford, are priced at 2.62 and 3.00 and will fancy their chances against Man City and Middlesbrough respectively.

And if you want to go well out there, Sunderland boss David Moyes has hinted at an advanced role for Patrick Van Aanholt, making his respective odds of 11.00 for an anytime goal a lot more generous given that the Black Cats are up against fellow strugglers Stoke, who are yet to keep a clean sheet this term.

And speaking of which…

CLEAN SHEET ODDS – GAMEWEEK 8

Southampton1.83
Arsenal2.00
Tottenham2.20
Bournemouth2.29
Chelsea2.40
Stoke2.40
Manchester City2.50
Middlesbrough2.62
Crystal Palace3.00

There’s a bit of a southern bias to the clean sheet tables this week, with Southampton deservedly getting the shortest odds as they go for their seventh consecutive shut-out in all competitions.

They host a Burnley side that’s yet to score on their league travels.

Both Arsenal (2.00) and Spurs (2.20) also look good value.

The Gunners are going for their third clean sheet in a row. Swansea have one win and only two goals in three away matches – and that victory was on the first day of the season at Burnley. This all adds up to what looks like a regulation Arsenal home win, but the fact that this is new Swans boss Bob Bradley’s first match in charge throws a touch of unpredictability into the mix.

West Brom at home are a lot easier to call – tough to beat, even tougher to enjoy. Then again, they scored four goals at The Hawthorns last time out, although that was against West Ham.

Spurs will be a considerably tougher test. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have two clean sheets from their last three starts and shut down the mighty Man City attack before the international break kicked in.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, are rated at 2.29 to keep out the visiting Hull City. The Cherries have won their last two home matches 1-0, but the Tigers have scored in all three of their away fixtures so far.

Play Foster or Heaton? My thinking is that Soton is much less of a threat attacking wise and thus better chance of a CS for Heaton. However if Soton do score, Heaton probably won't get many save points whereas Foster will get a lot of saves.

Heaton. Don't know about cs, but Soton is missing a lot of chances, Heaton could get at least 2 points from saves.

Despite Kun's fearsome GW8 reputation, the performance of Everton's defense this season has been much improved so he's probably not the ideal candidate. Tekkers and Walcott would be great differentials, I'm thinking about them myself - but I've also got Sanchez in my team so more than likely to hand it to him.

WC done (i think!), left with 0.2m..thoughts?

    Marshall Pickford
Pieters Mustafi Smith -- Holebas Amat
Walcott Firmino Sanchez Son -- Fletcher
    Kaku Kun Deeney

    Other options include:
    A: Son + Mustafi >> Sterling + Stones + 0.2m
B: Marshall Mustafi + Sanchez + Deeney >> Grant Stones Sterling Ibra

Other options are sooo tempting though and have their merits
A: Sterling more nailed on, potential season keeper compared son..i dont expect a major points diff mustafi and stones

B: This is the real tough one
    - ibra hands down better then deeney plus watford share goals
    - walcott partially covers sanchez but sterling has a lot of potential
    - marginal downgrade in defense from mustafi to stones
    - Improved gk combo with grant but an extra transfer down the line to replace gk
