Sky Sports Focus – Gameweek 6

Time for our weekly Sky Sports Focus article where we take a look back at the weekend action before preparing you for the incoming Gameweek.

We’ll examine the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends and Watchlist, before moving on to our line-up and future plans.

Gameweek 6 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters and earned an extra five points as a result.

FixtureMoTM
Bournemouth vs BrightonJordon Ibe
Crystal Palace vs SouthamptonMario Lemina
Watford vs Man CitySergio Aguero
Liverpool vs BurnleyNick Pope
Huddersfield vs LeicesterAaron Mooy
Newcastle vs StokeMatt Ritchie
West Brom vs West HamMichail Antonio
Tottenham vs SwanseaFederico Fernandez
Chelsea vs ArsenalAaron Ramsey
Man United vs EvertonAntonio Valencia

Sergio Aguero was the headline act this week, netting 27 points against Watford.

The Argentinian is now the highest-scoring forward in the game and just one point behind the top player overall, Mohamed Salah.

Aguero is also priced at 12.8, the second most expensive player behind Harry Kane, making him difficult to acquire with one transfer unless you’re looking at a direct swap or multiple trades.

However, many Fantasy managers will doubtless be tearing up their plans in order to shoehorn him in ahead of a home clash against the struggling Crystal Palace.

Aaron Mooy, Matt Ritchie and Michail Antonio all earned their second accolades for the season and continue to look the strongest options in their respective teams.

Gameweek 6 Bonus Points

Let’s take a look at any player to earn eight points or more in bonus for the season.

Paul Pogba and Sadio Mane are again the top targets out, while Steve Mounie takes up third place after failing to make the weekend due to injury. He’s ruled out again for Gameweek 6.

Unsurprisingly, Aguero is the top target this week, while the remaining four midfielders look to have been drafted in to replace Paul Pogba or Sadio Mane and promise to be great options in the coming weeks.

Watchlist

Here I aim to highlight a few differential players with low ownership who I think could be good options for the coming six weeks.

Three specific price brackets will be used to cater for our available budgets.

The players will evolve with fixtures and form to offer Fantasy managers a nudge in (hopefully) the right direction.

Notes

The consistent Salah (10 points) and Nemanja Matic (eight) brought home some decent returns, while Fraser Forster and Kyle Naughton both bagged nine points for me at the back.

My captains were Jermain Defoe (14), Harry Kane (four) and then Romelu Lukaku (20), which is more than I have got in recent weeks from my armband.

In a couple of last minute decisions, I opted for Philippe Coutinho to replace Paul Pogba rather than Ben Davies or Christian Eriksen. He returned just four points, but so did Eriksen and Davies didn’t even feature. Moving forward, I feel I have the right choice in Coutinho if he can rekindle last season’s form.

The other swap was Defoe out for Alexandre Lacazette, which I was going to leave until the Gunners played West Brom this Monday.

But having watched the Friday night fixture, I thought I would rather make the trade early to get Arsenal’s Sunday match versus Chelsea. It didn’t work as he blanked, but things could have been so different if the Frenchman hadn’t missed a glaring opportunity.

I’m pretty happy with my team and rate of transfers in relation to the average, my main worry is, of course, the lack of Man City attack, namely Aguero for this week.

Although City have some favourable fixtures, they’re still not really essential captain-wise, with Harry Kane or Romelu Lukaku a viable alternative in each matchday they play.

As mentioned above, Kane and Aguero are so close in price it almost feels like a head-to-head decision involving Kane +1 transfer v Aguero.

Such is my blind faith in Kane; I think I have made my choice.

Now, to take my seat behind that sofa…

Captain Plan

Sat 23rd – Kane (whu)
Sun 24th – Knockaert (NEW)
Mon 25th – Lacazette (WBA)

Hello guys. What would you do with this lot:

    Foster
    Davies, Jones, Suttner
    Willian, Eriksen, Mkhitaryan, Choupo-Moting
    Lukaku, Kane, Firmino

    Subs: Elliott --- T.Carroll, Stephens, Long --- 0.3 ITB, 1 FT

    A) Firmino & Mkhitaryan -> Aguero & Atsu (-4)
    B) Willian & Stephens -> Ritchie & Kolasinac (-4)
    C) Kane & Stephens -> Aguero & Kolasinac (-4)

B is the one that makes the most sense. But it depends how much you want Aguero though, because that could trump sense.

Any suggestion regarding this shambles of a team?

    Elliot/Foster
    Davies, Stones, Bertrand, (Suttner,Long)
    Eriksen, Mkhi, Salah, Chupo (Tcarrol)
    Kane, Morata, Chicha

    1FT / 0,7 ITB

Was thinking of getting Stones out myself, seeing as kompany is back from injury. Either that or do something about Chica, Suggestions?

    On a wc

    For the third striker spot:

A go with vardy, hope he is fit to play
B go with a "safer" Rooney option - good fixtures too and cheaper

Honestly think Salah could be the highest scoring player this week. Gamble, but could be worth it.

    Just had a thought....

I've seen many talking about doing the Lukaku-Aguero hokey cokey over the next 2 weeks, but has anyone considered doing Lukaku -> Aguero this week and then play the free hit chip next week, i.e. for GW7?

There are quite a few good teams with great fixtures in GW7 followed by a really tough run straight after (Arsenal, United, Liverpool, Everton etc), plus a few good teams with really difficult GW7 fixtures followed by a really good run (City, Chelsea, Southampton etc).

Personally I'm loaded up on City, Spurs and Southampton and have no Arsenal, Liverpool or Everton, and only Lukaku from United, so I'm quite tempted....

    Thoughts?

Think the Free Hit is best saved for a week when there isn't a full set of games.

Free hit chip is for the big blank week on FA Cup quarter final weekend - you will seriously regret it if you play it now

Maybe, but most of the teams playing in the blank week will likely be from lower grade teams

Which is better than none of your players playing at all

You have time to prep for the week with a hit or two...if you think it is worth it.

Fine - blow your free hit chip now then 🙂

Also, it will only be a big blank week if most of the quarter fixtures involve prem teams

Not sure why that matters? Lower sides can score goals and keep clean sheets. Especially against similar opposition. Last year Josh King and a few other players from the 'lower grade' teams smashed it.

Already been tinkering with it for this but I started badly. I can get Aguero in for Lukaku then it will revert back for GW7.

Load up on Chelsea attack (Stoke have no defensive cover), City, Spurs and perhaps cheap Burnley and Newcastle back line and Kola.

Totally agree the free hit is perfect for that small gameweek which has a bunch of lesser teams, but I'm thinking I'll deal with that when the time comes...

Any thoughts on which of these has best chances of a solid return?

    a) Krul | Alonso | Mkhitaryan | Choupo-Moting

    b) Fabianski | Otamendi | Mkhitaryan | Ritchie

    c) Krul | Otamendi | Hazard | Atsu

I also like C, but possibly a week or two too early for Hazard

I'm set for this week I think, anything worth a hit?

    De Gea
    Kolasinac Mee Mawson
    Eriksen Silva Mahrez Choupo
    Kane (c) Jesus Hemed

    Elliot Carroll Cedric Dawson

No hit but I'd play Carroll over Hemed. Bony is possibly getting the start and that might help Carroll along to some points. Plus I think Newcastle are rolling along and Brighton might find a tough time with them.
