Dugout Discussion – Thursday

The curtain comes down on the second of four quick-fire festive Gameweeks this evening as Crystal Palace welcome Arsenal to Selhurst Park.

Up against the only side yet to keep a clean sheet in front of their own fans, the Gunners’ Alexandre Lacazette is the tenth top captain pick for Gameweek 20, handed the armband by 2.1% of Fantasy Premier League managers.

Having found the net in each of the last two, Mesut Ozil is the visitors’ form player, though Alexis Sanchez was back on the scoresheet against Liverpool last time out.

Both are owned by just 2% and could prove big differentials this evening.

Tonight’s teamsheet brings good news for the 11% still holding Sead Kolasinac, as he returns to the starting XI for the first time in four Gameweeks as the visitors revert to a wing-back set-up

The hosts, meanwhile, welcome back Christian Benteke from suspension. He bagged a goal and assist in his previous league appearance away to Swansea to hint at a return to form, though it’s Wilfried Zaha who has been the Eagles’ most impressive attacker of late.

Stationed up top in a front two, he has scored or assisted in five of his six home matches since returning from injury.

That output has been key to a run that’s seen Palace score two goals in each of the last six at Selhurst Park and could prove pivotal against an Arsenal rearguard with just two clean sheets in six on the road.

Looks like you'll need an FPL squad WITHOUT Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea AND Arsenal coverage for GW28!

CL & Europa fixtures will postpone those games.

Had an idea which involves tapping into my 0.9m hedgefund (other 0.2m added on once I've done Silva to Son)

Gw22 - Coutinho and Silva to Alli and Son -4. Reasoning - If Couts plays v Leicester then he's a serious rotation risk for the Burnley game, he then has City. Alli has the 2 enticing dgw games and then Everton, who for all their clean sheets still have a defence made up of less than impressive parts. Would look to keep Son and switch Alli back to Coutinho for gw25 unless Alli completely flops over the 3 games.

Sounds like a high transfer volume when it could easily pay to stick. Coutinho hasn't exactly deserved a transfer out. I would keep

Cheers. I agree and I wouldn't want him out for long if I did go down that route, just think it might pay off over those 2-3 games.

I like those moves. Perhaps a bit worried about Son getting a rest for one of the games but worth the risk I reckon.
Arnie could be a more nailed option also in great form to consider for that spot.....

I'm kind of pondering this myself.

Cheers, will give it some thought, just can't get past the thought process that there's more point potential with Son than with Arnie

Had 2FT and couldn't for the life of me think of what to do with it, so just did Foster > Adrian. Kinda seems a daft transfer as he doesn't even play this week. Rich > Lingard was an option but could go either way that one. And don't really wanna waste transfers on a Kane Hokey Cokey.

    .................Elliot
    Ota - Jones - Christensen - Gomez
    Salah(c)- Haz(v)- Rich - Sterling
    .............DCL - Morata
Bench: Adrian*== RLC - Kane*- Masuaku

Did I make the right move?
Also for next weeks two frees, choose 1 from each bracket...
    A) Alli
    B) Erik
    AND
    1) Son
    2) Arnie

Bank the FT, although think twice about Eriksen—Son or Alli may be better with Spurs’ current formation. Top 10k should still be easy, as long as you don’t go crazy and also have a bit of sense managing your chips with upcoming blanks/DGW’s.

not quite that simple as you'll also want the other in form players who have a good fixture to go with the 6 DGWers you choose

City have Watford at home for example, you would not want to ignore their midfield

          Yup.

I think people are being suckered in by the DGW. I think it's a good opportunity for Spurs players but don't see why so many people want 3 West Ham players. Honestly can't see West Ham doing much away to spurs.

Save your free hit.. you thank me when more than 2 teams are playing twice.... or when the big teams ARNT playing with cup ties 😉

no matter how many team are playing twice, you only play 11 players /gw

this dgw we have 6 players + City vs WATFORD, that's enough

That’s true... but how many times do 3 spurs players all get a good haul? Very rare.
Even rarer for west Ham players to get a good haul.. let alone 3 of their players!

When city and chelsea are not playing in a gameweek wouldn’t it be wiser to use it then and have 11 players that are playing as oppose to struggling to keep your hazards, sterling’s, KDBs etc in your team when they aren’t playing?

GW28...... there will be top teams not playing!

I’d never suggest triple West Ham.... even on a double gameweek.

You wont need some players after DGW, so if there's so many DGW players in your team, it's still not the best idea

2 free Transfers for next week: your opinion would be appreciated....

    1) Alli
    2) Erik

    AND

    A) Son
    B) Arnie

Leaning towards 1A at the moment but Arnie does tempt me over Son

    Hennessey / Speroni
    Otamendi / Christensen / Jones / Kenny / Mbemba
    Hazard / Salah / Sterling / Zaha / Richarlison
    Aguero / Firmino / Niasse

    £1m ITB, 2FTs

Thinking Zaha > Lingard this GW leaving me enough £ITB for Aguero > Kane for 22, when I'll also probably do Hennessey > Adrian.

    Thoughts?

    Ok so here’s the plan....
    Save FT this week
Then KDB & Richarlison > Eriksen & Arnautovic

    Gives me this team:

    DDG, Elliot
    Otamendi, Christensen, Mee, Masuaku, Schindler
    Eriksen, Salah, Sterling, Arnautovic, RLC
    Kane, Morata, DCL

Leaves me with 0.8 ITB just enough to get VVD in for Schindler

    Good plan?

      My plan too.

Save Ft. Get Son and Arnie for Haz and Silva.

    Current Team (1 FT and 0.0itb) :

    Courtois / 3.9
    Otamendi / Jones / Mee / Holgate / Ogbonna
    Sterling / Salah / Hazard / Richarlison / Young
    Kane / Morata / DCL

    Plan GW 22 : Morata + Richarlison + Young -> Quaner + Alli + Son (-4) (Tot DGW)
GW 24 : Alli + Son -> Coutinho + Silva (Liv & Mci good fix and Tot turn to bad fix on GW24)

    Sounds move? Yaiy or Nay?
