Sky Sports

Sky Sports Focus

Our attention now turns to the Sky Sports game, as we check in with last weekend’s action before preparing you for a bumper upcoming round of matches that could play a significant part in the overall standings.

We’ll examine the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends and Watchlist, before detailing the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 35 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters and earned an extra five points as a result.

FixtureMoTM
Everton vs LiverpoolGeorginio Wijnaldum
Watford vs BurnleyWill Hughes
Brighton vs HuddersfieldAlex Pritchard
Chelsea vs West HamJoe Hart
Bournemouth vs Crystal PalaceLuka Milivojevic
West Brom vs SwanseaChris Brunt
Leicester vs NewcastleJamaal Lascelles
Man City vs Man UnitedPaul Pogba
Arsenal vs SouthamptonDanny Welbeck
Stoke vs SpursChristian Eriksen

Christian Eriksen was at it again, earning his second MoTM award in as many weeks. The Dane has amassed 34 points over that period and is now the fourth highest-scoring midfielder overall.

Paul Pogba’s brace also caught our eye ahead of the Double Gameweek. The Frenchman has shown us glimpses of his Fantasy potential with several double-figure hauls this season and now looks a valid and cheaper alternative to team-mates Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.

Gameweek 35 Bonus Points

Let’s take a look at any player to earn 50 points or more in bonus for the season.

Notes

I moved up one whole place, so I guess I have to count that as a victory. Overall, It was a low-scoring week across the board, but I had hoped for more given my use of three transfers.

Speaking of which, I’m pretty happy with them, as of the trio I sold, Ben Davies and Roberto Firmino didn’t start, while Theo Walcott blanked.

The incoming Pascal Gross got me two points and was only denied an assist when Jonas Lossl was deemed to have scored an own goal, while Harry Kane’s ghost goal meant he also went close to a decent return. Thankfully, Wilfried Zaha carried the rest with a ten-point return.

My big decision this week is who to bring in at the expense of Gabriel Jesus.

I need a player from the red side of Manchester for captaincy reasons moving forward, and there is a case to be made for all three of my potential suitors: Lukaku, Sanchez and Pogba.

I currently see the Belgian striker as the safest pick, but given my desire to break into the top 100, I’m strongly considering the other two as altenatives.

Sanchez has been very good in his last two matches and is owned by the fewest people. He’s also the most expensive and therefore unobtainable for most in one transfer. All of these reasons are currently pushing me in his direction.

Captain Plan

Sat 14th April – Mohamed Salah
Sun 15th April – Romelu Lukaku/Alexis Sanchez/Paul Pogba
Mon 16th April – None
Tues 17th April – Harry Kane
Weds 18th April – Romelu Lukaku/Alexis Sanchez/Paul Pogba
Thurs 19th April – Andreas Christensen

The team news section says Man U will revert to their 4-2-3-1 formation. This means he will sit deep and play defensively? Or can we expect him to go forward for attacking returns?

Yes he will be a tad deeper if they play 4-2-3-1 than when they play 3 in the middle. But at home vs West Brom United will be camped in their half so won't matter. Will probably have to be slightly more measured getting forward away vs Bournemouth. Still a v good prospect for this gameweek.

    A Elliot & TAA > Hart & Long
    B Elliot & Baines > Lloris/Schmeichel/Courtois & Long

Thoughts much appreciated as always on potential moves this week 🙂
I'm trying to think ahead to GW36 (FH35) where I'll probably want to double up on City attack for the run in.

If it's Kak, that means I'll potentially be looking at Aguero/Jesus over Auba.
If it's Sanchez, I'll have the pick of the city mids, then look to bring in Auba GW37.

Christensen > Long (-4) seems a little off, but given Chris may only play one match DGW34, and Long will be perfect 4.0 man 15th man fodder and enabler for the run in, I'm very tempted.

    __
    A. Auba > Lukaku [Kane(c)]
    B. Auba Lingard > Sán(c)hez Austin (-4)
    C. Auba Mili Chris > San(c)hez Austin Long (-8)

    __
    DDG Ryan
    Alonso Vertonghen Christensen Lowton Chilwell
    Mahrez Son Willian Lingard Milivojevic
    Kane Aubameyang Barnes

How are we all, help required. Currently 20 or so points clear of second in two leagues.

    DDG Myhill
    Schindler Ake Robertson Mee Monreal
    VLP Mahrez Salah Miki Willian
    Auba Vardy Firmino

    Mee > Long
    Ake > Chilwell
    Monreal > Tomkins
    Miki > Cork

Worth it to fund below at -20 expense?

v difficult. probably stick and think about it like this

      1 Lukaku - (WBA/bou) -4
      2 Auba - (new/WHU)

or if you Hokey Cokey back

      3 lukaku(WBA/bou) + auba (WHU) - 8

then think to yourself which gets most points 1, 2 or 3.

I don’t think auba will get much at Newcastle but could see him getting something at home to WHU, so think either 2 or 3 is the best for points. lukaku would have to score at least 2 goals to make it worthwhile though

If you have to lose one who would it be

    A) Son
    B) Mahrez

Considering I have both Kane and Vardy..

I feel Mahrez just because could be less rotated?

        Aaron Ramsey's gash looks gruesome...

Should still play with a few staples and glue, right?
