Sky Sports Focus

Our Saturday schedule continues with the weekly Sky Sports Focus article where we take a look back at the weekend action before preparing you for the final Gameweek of the season.

We’ll examine the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends and Watchlist, before moving on to the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 39 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters and earned an extra five points as a result.

FixtureMoTM
Brighton vs Man UnitedAnthony Knockaert
Stoke vs Crystal PalaceWilfried Zaha
West Brom vs TottenhamCraig Dawson

West Ham vs Man UnitedMark Noble

Eden Hazard (8.1%), Leroy Sane (7.7%), Hugo Lloris (7.3%) and Aaron Mooy (6%) were the only players with over five percent ownership to pick up the award over the Double Gameweek.

However, Wilfried Zaha, Marko Arnautovic and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sit just below five percent and are well owned amongst the top 1,000 managers, so will have been the cause of major rank swings.

A special mention to Alex McCarthy – popular target in the February overhaul due to his cheap price – who up until now had largely failed to offer value.

He churned out 14 points in the Tuesday night match against Swansea City and will have been captained by many of his owners. That was another event to spark a major change in the rankings.

Gameweek 39 Bonus Points

Let’s take a look at any player to earn 50 points or more in bonus for the season

Notes

When I needed them the most, my team let me down. A drop of 150 places in the penultimate Gameweek was certainly not ideal.

The dream of a top 100 finish now looks firmly out of reach, mainly due to a series of captain fails.

Alexis Sanchez failed to feature on Friday, leaving me with no skipper, Harry Kane then did his best Roberto Soldado impression before Raheem Sterling and Man City failed to score at home for the first time in the league this season.

The theme continued with Mike van der Hoorn missing out against Southampton, again leaving me without a captain until finally, Kane picked up one goal on the Wednesday for my first captaincy points.

I then went into Thursday’s game with high hopes after Sanchez started up front, giving me the perfect explosive differential. We all know how that went.

It was a truly disheartening sequence of events just as I was on the cusp of my target for the season.

With little left to play for now, I will likely opt for a differential captain on the final day in the hope of a miracle.

Thankfully, we get to see the teamsheets, which will have a big say on where I hand out the armband. As it stands, the in-form Wilfried Zaha will be my final roll of the dice.

Wish me luck, guys, and thanks for tolerating my ramblings during the season. Here’s to the next one.

    Went Smalling/Chilwell > Monreal/TAA for -4.

    Fabianski
    Davies, Monreal, TAA,
    Eriksen, Sane, Sterling (c), Zaha,
    Kane, Jesus, Vardy
    (Foster, Long, Dummett, Kenedy)

Good to go or any further hits recommended?

    RP:

    Ryan
    Naughton Tark Lowton Veet
    Sterling Salah Eriksen Gross
    Kane Jesus
    (DDG Morgan Barnes Kenedy)

    a) Barnes > JAyew (bench Gross)
    b) Tark > TAA
    c) Gross > Mili/RLC
    d) DDG & Gross > Romero & Zaha (-4) - would cover rival (1 point between us) having Zaha

Lol, nearly same situation between me and my rival as I am just 2 points ahead...although he has TC still to play.
I would be careful in taking a hit as you start off on the wrong foot, but I am thinking about it too.

I got it Zaha for Pogba last night. Can you get in Zaha for free?
I would be tempted for Ayew but now they have nothing to play for and they dont score much goals anyway!

(Reposting as did not get reply yet)

I have not slept well last night guys thinking about my lineup. My rival is only 2 points behind me and has TC left to play.
Is my team safe enough like this or should I take a hit or two to cover myself? I already brought in Zaha for Pogba last night before price rise.

    Ryan
    Robertson, Lowton, Vertonghen
    Carroll, Salah, Sterling, Son, Zaha*
    Jesus, Kane

    Bench: DeGea, Smalling, Chilwell, Barnes
    1.0m ITB

    Rival has :

    Fabianski
    Azpicilueta, yedlin, vertonghen, Mustafi, Creswell
    Kenedy, Arnie, Carroll, Ritchie, Iwobi
    Aubamayeng, Jesus, Kane

He might well TC Kane or Auba but has no Salah until now with 1.9m ITB

Any help or tips I should do would be appreciated once again.

First thing is why did you make a transfer for a price rise in gw38? Apart from that I wouldn’t take a hit and think your team looks good, his midfield is awful. Just got to hope Aubameyang stays quiet

Block the potential differentials for hits or play it safe, corresponding transfers

Big week coming up with £200 at stake ... could do with a little advice

    I've currently got :
    Fabski ,
    Long, Arnold-Alex , Azpeculeta
    Son ,Sane, Sterling, Mivilojevic,
    Kane, Jesus, Ayew

I'm really torn on Son and Jesus as they've had bad returns lately but I think Tottenham could possibly turn Leicester over and I don't think Jesus will do much against Southampton but then again, you know when you take them out that they will probably do something so this week is a tough call.

    Do i go:-

    A) Jesus / Son < > Salah / Giroud

    B) Jesus/Son < > Zaha / Firmino

    C) Jesus < > Firminho

    D) Jesus < > Auba

Also, who are you guys picking captain and why?

I was thinking probably Salah if i get him but Brighton haven't been hammered this season and Kane is most likely to get a goal against Leicester but he has looked a bit off since his injury. Firmino is a possible call but im not sure.

    Choices ... choices...

Sometimes we just have to admit that Lady Luck plays a major part here.
Your concerns about players and teams you mentioned make sense but football is crazy and they don’t follow any pattern half the times.
If you lead or are behind by just a few points I would not take any hits at this point or you’ll start in the back foot.
Maybe just bring in Zaha somehow for free?

Would also consider Sané being rested with Sterling returning, but who knows.
      Anything ITB?

The guy who has been providing info on Silva first said he's finished for the season but then says later he misunderstood and he is back.

        Friends with him apparently

    Please guys any help appreciated!

I have Pogba, Dilva, Son which are all possible doubts for weekend! Already made a separate transfer (Smalling out for Blind)!

Worth a -4 taking one out and which one?

    Thanks

      Depends on your bench

Worth doing Smalling > VVD for a -4 hit even though I'm leading only by 7 pts? (He used his TC chip last GW on Jesus I'm using mine on Mo Salah for the final GW of the season)

Depends who else you’d play instead. Vert has to get a clean sheet to justify and even if he does that is only a gain of two points (assuming no bonus)
