Our Saturday schedule continues with the weekly Sky Sports Focus article where we take a look back at the weekend action before preparing you for the final Gameweek of the season.
We’ll examine the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends and Watchlist, before moving on to the Scout team and our future plans.
Gameweek 39 Man of the Match Awards
These were the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters and earned an extra five points as a result.
Fixture | MoTM |
Brighton vs Man United | Anthony Knockaert |
Stoke vs Crystal Palace | Wilfried Zaha |
West Brom vs Tottenham | Craig Dawson |
Watford vs Newcastle | Roberto Pereyra |
Leicester vs West Ham | Marko Arnautovic |
Bournemouth vs Swansea | Joshua King |
Everton vs Southampton | Nathan Redmond |
Man City vs Huddersfield | Aaron Mooy |
Chelsea vs Liverpool | Eden Hazard |
Arsenal vs Burnley | Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang |
Swansea vs Southampton | Alex McCarthy |
Chelsea vs Huddersfield | Jonas Lossl |
Leicester vs Arsenal | Kelechi Iheanacho |
Tottenham vs Newcastle | Hugo Lloris |
Man City vs Brighton | Leroy Sane |
West Ham vs Man United | Mark Noble |
Eden Hazard (8.1%), Leroy Sane (7.7%), Hugo Lloris (7.3%) and Aaron Mooy (6%) were the only players with over five percent ownership to pick up the award over the Double Gameweek.
However, Wilfried Zaha, Marko Arnautovic and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang sit just below five percent and are well owned amongst the top 1,000 managers, so will have been the cause of major rank swings.
A special mention to Alex McCarthy – popular target in the February overhaul due to his cheap price – who up until now had largely failed to offer value.
He churned out 14 points in the Tuesday night match against Swansea City and will have been captained by many of his owners. That was another event to spark a major change in the rankings.
Gameweek 39 Bonus Points
Let’s take a look at any player to earn 50 points or more in bonus for the season

Notes
When I needed them the most, my team let me down. A drop of 150 places in the penultimate Gameweek was certainly not ideal.
The dream of a top 100 finish now looks firmly out of reach, mainly due to a series of captain fails.
Alexis Sanchez failed to feature on Friday, leaving me with no skipper, Harry Kane then did his best Roberto Soldado impression before Raheem Sterling and Man City failed to score at home for the first time in the league this season.
The theme continued with Mike van der Hoorn missing out against Southampton, again leaving me without a captain until finally, Kane picked up one goal on the Wednesday for my first captaincy points.
I then went into Thursday’s game with high hopes after Sanchez started up front, giving me the perfect explosive differential. We all know how that went.
It was a truly disheartening sequence of events just as I was on the cusp of my target for the season.
With little left to play for now, I will likely opt for a differential captain on the final day in the hope of a miracle.
Thankfully, we get to see the teamsheets, which will have a big say on where I hand out the armband. As it stands, the in-form Wilfried Zaha will be my final roll of the dice.
Wish me luck, guys, and thanks for tolerating my ramblings during the season. Here’s to the next one.
