dont envy levy but he's the one whose allowed it to get to this point. sell kane and pocket 90-100m but weaken the team considerably by losing your best player and biggest goal threat. dont sell kane , keep for the season and hope ange does well enough to convince him that he should stay with spurs and maybe win a trophy ...or lose him to a rival next season-i think most likely United- for nothing which is the nightmare scenario. Levy would never be forgiven for that.

Using the Kane money to buy decent defenders would benefit them more than keeping Kane for another season. He just scored 30 goals to come 8th.

They still have Son, Richarlison, Kulusevski and Maddison as attacking options, and could bring in another for depth.

The fact he's trying to get a buy-back clause inserted into the Bayern deal only in the case that he returns to the PL, for a player going for around £90-100m and at age 30, shows how utterly desperate he is for Kane to never play for another English club. Kind of embarrassing, it's like he's still trying to cling onto him into his mid-30s even if he finally allows him to go

Let's be real and accept that even with Kane, Spurs are not going to finish Top 4 this season. The difference between 5th and say 10th is worth a lot less than the 90m they could get now, plus during a season of midtable obscurity they could bed in new players and be ready to hit the ground running the season after next.

it does reek of desperation but i think even at 33, 34 kane will still be lethal and they know he will want to go for shearers record.

Levy's other problem is we're now into the final month of the window and clubs will know he's got an extra 90m

I'm not sure why Kane would want to go to Bayern anyway. He's already too old to get the amount of trophies his career deserves, but he can get the absolute priceless award of premier leagues top goalscorer if he stays. To me that would be a much bigger award than a couple Bundesligas.

I’d much rather win an actual top 5 league title and have a real chance of the Champions League than only ever achieve a record that will just get broken again like 20 years later (assuming Haaland leaves soon).

Only thing he’d end up doing is replacing Le Tissier and Defoe in those “best players to never win anything” conversations.

You'd rather win a league that they win every year anyway without you? The problem is now everyone seems to judge individual players on their trophies even though there are 10 other players on the pitch. Being the all time premier league scorer means way more in the long run than a couple of Bundesligas

It's a major trophy in a top 5 league playing for one of the biggest clubs in history. Plus they're always amongst the favourites for the Champions League each season. Why would anybody sign for a BuLi club with that ridiculous line of thinking?

Would you be saying that if he was signing for City - a club who win the league every year without him? If he was so bothered about the goal-scoring record, he wouldn't be up for the Bayern move at all, would he?

If Shearer had to give up his record or his PL title, which one do you think he would choose?

Name the last time a genuine world class player moved to the Bundesliga. I can't see Bayern getting anywhere near the CL this year even with Kane.

I guess you'd have to ask Shearer that but the record should mean more to Kane considering he would've broke the record at his boyhood club. I believe Kane should be given respect for staying at Spurs and being loyal rather than ridiculed.

Off the top of my head, Bayern themselves have recently signed Kim, De Ligt, Mane, Hernandez and Sane in recent years - Dortmund signed Bellingham not long ago. All very highly rated players at the time of signing.

Kane wouldn't be breaking the record at his boyhood club unless you think he's scoring 50 league goals this season? He's not signing a contract remember, and I find it hard to call a player who tried to force a move to City a couple of years ago "loyal". He stayed because he had too, not because he wanted to.

I don't think any of the players you've just mentioned were world class at the time of signing except Mane and that worked out well.

I get what you're saying and I actually want Kane to do well as he deserves it just don't see Bayern getting too far in the CL this year.

I don't really get that logic. Haaland and Lewandowski are regarded as world class and have made their names in the Bundesliga. Aubameyang went from the Bundesliga to Arsenal in a difficult period for them and was a huge part of why they won the FA Cup. Bellingham has just gone to Madrid for an obscene amount because of how good he was there. Just because not many world class players go there doesn't mean the talent isn't there. He was on the wane a bit but Mane went there after a huge year for him (yes it hasn't worked out but that's a different matter), Kim is arguably the most desired CB this summer and went there, De Ligt went there too. Just because already established "world class" players aren't moving to the Bundesliga does not mean that the talent isn't there or that those players won't be there

My point was that rarely do established world class players join the Bundesliga rather than the Prem and La Liga who attract superstars. Surely there must be a reason for that. Who knows I may be proven wrong

A lot of the money is in the PL. It's beamed to so many countries around the world and is known as a more competitive league than most, and of course that then means higher wages too (something that most BL clubs won't engage in given the 50+1 rule regarding club ownership and them thus being more sensibly run). Similar deal for Madrid and Barca as the PL, plus those clubs are steeped in history and folklore to the point that being associated with those clubs is one of the earliest dreams a football-playing child has

Wow! This went way off from where I started it, but always good to have a debate.

To my initial point. It is different for Kane than anyone else going to the BL. I love the BL and they have class players and always produce talent. Bayerns record in Europe is as good as any and they’re rightfully one of the most well respected clubs in the world.

But Kane has missed the boat on winning trophies like a Haaland/Mbappe. So I believe (and you can disagree) that if I were him I’d want to stay in the PL and get that record! (No matter which club that was with)

It's one thing and there's probably not even a winners medal for it.

I think with him there Bayern would have a very good chance of landing the CL, especially after signing Kim as well. His ability to drop and play in runners in behind (as well as his own threat in the box) with the likes of Gnabry and Sane there is a perfect blend

But are Bayern going to be able to compete with City, Madrid and Liverpool (if they sign a DM and defender). They might not even be better than Arsenal Barca Napoli and United

Liverpool are a threat but are in transition and I think defensively will be troubled by better teams, Madrid are always a threat but just lost Benzema and were torn apart by City a few months ago, Arsenal can challenge but just managing a PL challenge with CL will be difficult, etc. City are always going to be the big threat but a Bayern with Kane have to be close favourites and with good reason

Sorry all, I bottomed on the last page!

    Hi all,

Been pretty set on 7-8 of this starting team for a while now. Still tossing up whether to keep Salah or spread the funds, but I if I bring in say Bruno I end up with heaps of money in the bank as I'd only change say Pedro to Mitoma and Tark to Stones. I like Wissa as a differential! Thoughts and advice please?

    Onana, Areola
    Gabriel, Estu, Tark (Pau, Baldock)
    Salah, Rash, Saka, Marti (Anderson)
    Haaland, Wissa, Pedro

    Thanks!

Depends on whether Salah also starts with a bang. The plan would be that I can sell him and upgrade a striker if needed in GW3. Pretty straight forward to get to anyone in 2 trades with Salah.

I'm more worried about whether Pedro and Tark/Pau will actually get me enough initialy.

I also don't really see the appeal of Darwin/Gakpo/Jackson because I feel they may not be first choice to start the season. Don't trust Chelsea for Nkunku straight away, but GW3 will have more info about how the team is going. Then just prefer Martinelli over Jesus.

Cash will be a terrific option WHEN HE STARTS. I get the impression Emery is emulating Arteta in planning to alternate his attacking wingbacks. Some times Digne/Moreno are the attackers and a centre back plays in Cash's position. Sometimes a centreback plays instead of Digne. It'll be a lottery.

Torres and Mings are both left-footed centrebacks - it remains to be seen if they can play together comfortably. The safe and underrated pick is the keeper.

    7. BensonBoy

I think Torres will be eased in. Cash Konsa Mings Digne to start with until Moreno is fit. Konsa was AV Player of the Year wasn’t he? And Mings & Torres are both left footers so Mings place may come under threat before Konsa. Martinez best bet for me.

Just a thought on all these team AI ratings people really seem to care about. What does it mean that you get a rating of e.g. 95 %? Your team is 95 % good, 95 % template? Just funny how people think it actually means anything...

Hub? It's nonsense, and those YouTubes irritate me. I got a 99% rated draft and I hated it. My 87% rating was a better one.
I've currently got my draft open in Official FPL, Hub and PlanFPL - the predicted points for the same draft are: 56, 60, 68. Random rubbish.

Have you seen under the hood of how the tools work, what models they using to predict points etc. to be in a position to brand them as "nonsense"?

Easy to dismiss something just because you disagree with the result it spits out but that's just your opinion v the opinion of the model, it doesn't prove the model is "rubbish" and I highly doubt its "random".

              Hi guys,

There isn't currently a way to be notified apart from by email by ticking the notify me box when you reply. That's something that I can definitely look at though if it is useful and would improve the user experience on site. I am always very much open to ideas and suggestions which you can either put in here and I will try and spot them or feel free to drop me an email. This whole website was built for the FPL community so if there are improvements that you would like I can certainly look in to making those happen. I can't promise that they all will but notifications definitely seems like a good idea - that would help me keep up on the chats in here too!

I'll keep your name in mind then 🙂

So at the moment we would have 4: me, brains, mentaculus and joey.

I think 8 would be the absolute maximum. Just want to make sure there are people who are then active in the draft. If there is a huge amount of people I think the odds for having mostly active players decreases.

Just a heads up, the claims of AI ratings are laughable and to your point it is funny that people think it means anything.

In my line of work I work heavily with prompt engineering across Vertex, Claude and CGPT, the ratings are based on weightings that are predefined, an excel sheet could do that calculation. AI is being used as a buzzword.

There's nothing generative about it nor does the rule of historic performance mean anything towards future performance. Almiron, Liverpool, Rashford, Newcastle being recent examples.

All you have to do is use buzzwords like AI or model, and people think there's some kind of magic formula.

It's all a bunch of nonsense.

    6. It's for people who are crap at FPL so they think they have "won" something. It's the pre-season equivalent of boasting about team value.

I've not used AI team ratings and I probably never will as it would remove some of the fun for me, but I don't think their output is meaningless. All advanced stats and models tend to get dismissed the minute they appear in the realm of football, before slowly being accepted - xG is a great example, so many eyes were rolled when it first appeared and now its almost accepted without question.

    Onana
    Stones Gabriel Estupinan
Salah Saka Mbeumo Enciso (or McNeil depends on fitness Enciso)
    Haaland Jesus Darwin

    Areola Mings(or Botman) Anderson Baldock

Any other tips for the 5.5m midfield bracket? Or go for a 5m Enzo or Kovacic and use the 0.5m elsewhere?

People play like this because there is a need to win for "bragging rights" same as using cheat engines in gaming. Mini leagues are being ruined now by people with no history just copying an influencers team and getting lucky. No doubt some of these youtubers are good at the game but unfortunately now it has ruined it for others. I don't enter ££ leagues now because of this.

There's 18 players in my work ML. I award overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize. I run 2 Last Man Standing leagues and a h2h league. I give a prize for highest GW score of the season. I give 10 x Manager of the Month prizes, with December being double because it has 7 GW's in it.
Anyone else run similar ML's and any ideas for me for extra prizes?? Cheers lads.

Morning, have very similar....might want a 4.5 defender to cover any early season Pep nonsense with Stones in GW2? Posted a couple of weeks ago of concerns given Super Cup misweek fixture....whilst departures mitigate against mass rotation, we know the score...I'd been set on Foden in a 3-5-2 for weeks now but think Nkunku will get more minutes than him and have switched to 3-4-3...

Like it but would personally downgrade Jackson to 4.5 and upgrade Anderson to Mbuemo and Mings to Gabriel (I think that works out?). It becomes quite templatey though I guess, but Salah in himself is a bit of a differential.

Fairly happy with this. Would love Mitoma instead of Enciso but I just cant see a way to get him in. Appreciate this is v template.

    Onana (Areola)
    Gabriel Estupiñan Colwill (Botman/Beyer)

Downgrading Onana and Botman gets you there but not sure it's really worth it. Though I'd think Enciso is a risk in regards to both starting as well as overall minutes so I'd look at a 4.5 mid and Stones or Shaw in defence instead and play 442.

      1. Needo22

For me, Jesus to Darwin/Nkunku/Jackson and then you save 0.5 or 1.0

I think enciso is fine. But maybe upgrade Beyer to a nailed 4.5 defender with decent fixtures who can rotate with enciso if it turns out enciso doesn't get the minutes expected.

Merit if you can rotate them well. Nailed 4.5 plus 4m keeper gives you one less dilemma and 0.5m for upgrades or bank.

Not sure there's an appealing combo. Foderingham + Neto was the best I could find in terms of fixtures with two 4.5s who are first choice. Neither Bournemouth or Sheffield Utd are particularly strong defensively though and Bournemouth have signed competition for Neto.

I think the most interesting price bracket this season is the midfielders at 6.5, for me these players are all good assets:

    Mbeumo
    Mitoma
    Eze

(And Diaby could prove a great option, playing as second striker to watkins)

    Currently my team looks like this;

    Onana
    Stones Estu Gabriel
    Rashford Saka Martinelli Foden Eze
    Haaland Darwin

    Areola J.Pedro Cash Henry

(Yes it is quite a strong bench)

I'm tempted to do Martinelli -> Diaby as a differential but this would leave me with 1.5itb.

With an already strong bench, how would people suggest I spend the extra??

Martinelli v Trossard is interesting and may result in both getting limited pitch time. Also with Foden not nailed, could leave you short in MID

I’d probably downgrade your bench further, say cash or Henry to 4.0 and upgrade Pedro to nkunku or Watkins.

Personally I'd add Bernardo Silva to that 6.5 list (if he stays & City don't sign a winger) Currently got him with Haaland/Foden depending on what we deduce from the Community Shield with Mbeumo to step in as alternative? Current front 8 of Foden/Silva/Bruno/Odegaard/Saka Haaland/Nkunku/Pedro

Not sure why Mitoma is so popular. Was effective for Brighton but poor buy his earlier FPL standards. 2 goals and 5 assists in 18 games. March, Enciso, Pedro, Evan, Welbeck etc to impact his attacking returns. Mbeumo and Eze look better FPL picks for now.

A lot of people owning Stones in their drafts.
Is he more nailed this season?
I owned him last season and he was a nightmare.

The hype around stones is due to the midfield role that he now plays - so people see the potential for assists or even the odd goal or two that would be less likely at CB. Stones can also revert back to his CB position though so pretty unlikely he doesn't play at all as he has two positions (or three, as RB too)

I got him towards end of last season because of that hype and it was a mistake.
Gundog leaving make it more attractive though?

Avoid any nailed on possibilities, especially Man City ones. He 'should' start though. Was class in second half of the season.

My team's locked in i think. Haven't tinkered in a few days now. Just the decision to go Eze Gabriel or Richarlison AWB depending on what happens with Kane.

Still a couple of pre-season games for Hojlund to impress you 😉
