Two weeks ago, we published a Wildcard article for Gameweek 30, which included three potential drafts for different Fantasy Premier League (FPL) scenarios.

It’s fair to say quite a bit has changed since then, however, with Erling Haaland (£14.8m) set for a spell out and Chris Wood (£7.3m) an ongoing injury concern.

With that in mind, we’ve decided to rewrite and republish this piece to react to the weekend’s events.

Don’t forget that you can get your Wildcard team rated via our Rate My Team tool or the Plan FPL planner!

PROS + CONS

Before diving into a few draft ideas, it’s worth taking a moment to look at our article that weighs up the benefits of using an immediate Wildcard compared to waiting until Gameweek 31.

Gameweek 30 v 31 Wildcard: The pros + cons after Haaland injury

For example, after the weekend’s FA Cup quarter-final results, we have a good idea of which teams are set to blank in Gameweek 34.

We might not have final confirmation of where those rearranged fixtures are moved to by the Gameweek 30 deadline, but there’s a decent chance there will be a Double Gameweek 33 for Aston Villa, Manchester City, Arsenal and Crystal Palace.

Still, it may be safer to wait until we know exactly which matches will be moved where.

GAMEWEEK 30 WILDCARD IDEAS

Gameweek 33 Bench Boost, Gameweek 34 Free Hit

Gameweek Wildcard 30

This draft includes six players from Newcastle United and Crystal Palace, allowing you to attack Gameweek 32 with the maximum quota of ‘doublers’.

With the use of a few free transfers, it also sets up a pretty tasty Gameweek 33 Bench Boost, assuming Villa, Man City, Arsenal and Palace play twice.

You could choose to transfer out Cole Palmer (£10.8m) – who we have included in our initial draft on the assumption he is fit – and Jacob Murphy (£5.0m) ahead of Gameweek 33, for example, replacing them with Bukayo Saka (£10.2m) and an Aston Villa midfielder.

It’d leave you with a nice combination of ‘doublers’ and appealing single Gameweek options, such as Alphonse Areola (£4.2m) and Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£4.5m) at home to Southampton, plus Mohamed Salah (£13.7m) and Alexander Isak (£9.3m) against Leicester City and Aston Villa respectively.

This draft doesn’t need to worry about Blank Gameweek 34, either, with a planned Free Hit occurring then.

Arteta confirms that Bukayo Saka has already played a match (behind closed doors) as part of his recovery:

“Yeah we played once, but before that he had six consecutive sessions with the team. He was good. He played that game and he felt completely fine.”

Hey all. 1FT and 1.3m ITB WC 31. Haaland + Wood > Mamoush + Isak?

    Pickford
    Kerkez - Colwill - Robinson
    Bruno - Kluivert - Bowen - Salah
    Haaland - Wood

    (Turner) - Wissa - Castagne - Agbadou

Basically just did the same (but Wissa instead of Wood). I would given Haaland has to go out and Isak next 4 games you will want him anyway.

Which one do you prefer for AM31-32? high risk, high reward table bonus from Glasner or safer win & goals points from Howe?

    Glasner BHA, mci new
    Howe lei MUN CRY

*excludes GW33 because Howe likely needs to be transferred out

BHA has a chance at a 20 pointer but you'd expect them to lose the other 2.

      Howe seems a lot safer

If Palace or Villa win this weekend it could mean no table bonus for Glasner in 31 which would sway me to Howe.

Palace have conceded 11 goals away from home all season. All before December. But not many of the teams above the. Drew 2 all away to villa and won at Brighton 3-1 0 0 draw away to Bournemouth when they were scoring for fun. I am more worried about the home game against Bournemouth and Brighton TBH.

Ahhh I'd set my team around haaland...now I'm a bit screwed.
4 yellow markers. Still have bench boost, wildcard, free hit and manager chip....now I have no idea what to do.

Have palmer, gibbs white, wood and haaland....maybe this forces a wildcard...

This AM chip is an absolute nuisance. Need to try to decide whether to pull the trigger on wildcard and then whether to go to go with only 2 Palace + Glasner.

Any decent pods that discuss options for those with WC, BB & AM.

Love FPL Wire of course but there wasn't much mention of what to do with bench boost if AM is active in 31-33.

I might even have to make up my own mind 🙂

    WC Draft

    Raya Verbruggen
    Gabriel Gvardiol Munoz Aina Huijsen
    Salah Palmer Kluivert Murphy Rogers
    Isak Mateta Marmoush

1.5 in the bank, AM 31-33 on Glasner

Who would you sell for Burn/Livramento?
    A) Aina
    B) Huijsen

    What to do with Palmer?
    1) Keep
    2) Buy Saka
    3) Buy Foden

Tempted to include Sarr or Eze and book a transfer to remove for Glasner?

Can see why it might not be optimal but I do want 3 Palace for Sou.

Unsure on who to drop for Burn / Livra, will NFO have a double?

Currently on Palmer, but considering both Foden and Saka. Warming to Saka closer we get to deadline but worried about his minutes.

Yep. Knowing our team so well, and knowing our form away from home being better, and close to repeat of last end of season form, having 1 confirmed DGW (32) / another likely (33) and most of those being away, plus still getting AM points for at least draws against teams above us, tough to not AM those (I have FH for week 34)

But Munoz does get so high up the pitch when we counter attack.

I hope Mateta starts Wednesday but he may get a rest.

Munoz will play every game 88 minutes.

Still on the fence at the moment

We have only conceded 11 goals away from home.

But beat Brighton 3 1 Drew against Bournemouth when they were flying 0 0 and drew away to Villa 2 all. So it's tough to know.

Sarr is better away from home as well. Such a touch call at least I can wait until Saturday (unless I do WC)
