FFS Cup

FFS Members Paddy Power Cup III – Entry Now Open

With Cup football all the rage and, quick on the heels of Wild Rover’s FFS Paddy Power Cup triumph, our second free cup tournament of the season, is now open for our members. With Fuzzy Dunlop and Kippax Kikkers already in the hall of fame for their victories in this tournament, we’re looking for our third winner, with the Quarter-Finalists of this cup also taking their place in the first ever FFS Shield where they will face the likes of FFS Cup finalists Wild Rover and MileHigh over the final four Gameweeks of the season.

Read on for details on the Members Paddy Power cup but, if you’re a member and a veteran of such tournaments, you can go straight here to make your entry. Members will need to log in first.

What is the Paddy Power Members Cup?
The Paddy Power Members Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game available to our members. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall FPL standings will progress.

Do I have to be a Member to take part?
Yes. This annual tournament is provided as part of our offering to members. Obviously it’s not too late to register as a member or upgrade your account. Details on how this is done is available right here.

How do I enter?
Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

What do I do if I run into a problem with my entry?
Please contact support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk and we will look into any issues with your entry. Please note, we can only do this prior to the Qualifying Round. If you make an error when submitting your team id on the entry form, you may be withdrawn from the tournament so please take care when completing the form.

When does it start?
The qualifying round takes place in Gameweek 25 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before 9am on Monday February 4 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 512 qualifiers for the first round: the 512 with the top scores in Gameweek 25 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 26. Again, FPL rank will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Wednesday February 6.

What is the Gameweek Schedule
Each round of the Members Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 25
  • Round 1 – 512 teams – Gameweek 26
  • Round 2 – 256 teams – Gameweek 27
  • Round 3 – 128 teams – Gameweek 28
  • Round 4 – 64 teams – Gameweek 29
  • Round 5 – 32 teams – Gameweek 30
  • Round 6 – 16 teams – Gameweek 31
  • Quarter-Finals – 8 teams – Gameweek 32
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 33
  • The Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 34

When are the fixtures released?
The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline – the draw for the First Round will be expected on Thursday February 7.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

  • Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
  • Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
  • 3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the Quarter-Finalists from this tournament will gain entry to the Fantasy Football Scout Shield where they will play the eight Quarter-Finalists from this season’s earlier Paddy Power Cup. The shield tournament will start in Gameweek 35.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 and over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hi Jim, Yep keeping for this week but booting next week in the wildcard cull. Looking at a fwd line of:

      RVP, Ag and Studge.

I'm tempted by Fletcher, but have bigger things to sort out. You were right to wait until after the doubles to w/c - I now have to clean up my team with no w/c. Trouble was I had no Chelsea when their dgw was announced.

Yeah kind of although I could have been a little more adventurous with an extra ARS. I was put off by Pod's illness.

I see you have a very good rank-best of luck for the remainder of the season. Fully expect to see you in the top 1k 🙂

Thanks - I have been hovering around the same rank for ages. Really need to kick-start again. Thinking Cazorla out this week, but whether to go for Michu to free up a little cash, or for Mata, who I suspect is the better overall bet right now... not sure.

Mata's the only one that I intend to keep and have some faith in. Caz out is a good move when Wal has better returns.

That's the forward line I do crave - but not this week. Perfect timing for you - Aguero should be back and fully firing, and Liverpool's fixtures go golden.

Just hoping that Studge will cover for Suaz. Stevie has proved a v useful differential.

It's so card to call these midfields isn't it? Bale, Michu, Mata, Wal, Santi, Fell, Gerrard, Lampard, Hazard: who do you leave out?

I've decided to rotate the mids and keep the same 3 fwds.

Yes, they've proved tough to rotate though. Mata gets left out for the odd easy game, and they can all do well in unexpected fixtures. Bale especially seems impossible to predict!

    Afternoon guys...

Just a quick post to let you know that Brisbane and other parts of Queensland have been flooding pretty badly and it's getting worse with no signs of this rain stopping...

My thoughts go out to the families that have be struck by the flash tornadoes...

The place I'm at in East Brisbane has already got up to the top of the wheels on some parked cars, and it's just gonna get worse...

Thank god we are on the first floor...

Kinda unfair to judge him like that.

Check his PPM, should be better than those two. He was heavily rotated during City still in Europe.

On the 12 or so game he starts, he scores 66 points.

      That's pretty decent

Yep RVP who is over 3m more expensive and the top scoring forward in the game is on 153 from 20 starts (7.65 ppg) against Aguero's 66 from 13 (5.07 ppg). Clearly better but Aguero isn't doing incredibly badly. If he gets anywhere near last season's form he'll be pushing RVP for ppg. That is the punt.

    Morning fellas!

Watched Parker tonight!! Statham has done MEGA over here! American lads love that fella. I bum it all because im a bald git and the birds love him! My girl loved the film and the action.

Not the greatest film but (since we were chatting about films this week), well worth a trip to the pictures and the entrance fee. Certainly won't be winning any major awards, but Statham was as cool as ever. Stabbings, shootings, lock stock fellas.

(p.s stuck for the time being. 3-5-2 really hindering transfers. Have a gander and advise!!! 2ft's 0.1m bank)

To who though and why? Gibbs has a million home fixtures coming up, and Arsenal score loads of goals. He is constantly in the opponents area and is due an assist and/or goal. He's my only hitter. If anything it would be upgrading another low one to sit next to him no???

Yes, he's great and I had him for a while. I was tempted to get him back in but I got rid due to Arsenal's terrible habit of failing to keep a clean sheet. I expect ManU to tighten up for the run-in and keep a load of kleenies..Evra/Rafael to replace him.

          Just my opinion, that's all.

    Chelsea's next 5 fixtures.

    FAC @Brentford
    PRL @Reading
    PRL @Newcastle
    PRL Wigan
    UEL @Sparta Praha

Torres will definitely start vs Sparta Praha and if he starts vs Brentford,
Ba is definitely on vs Reading and one of Newcastle or Wigan.
Wigan more likely given between Reading and Newcastle it's just 3 days away.
Even then I can still see Ba given some time vs his old club

    A few quick questions:

    1. Is Gibbs worth the 0.5m over Sagna? I know Sagna hasn't been playing very well recently but he looks nailed on enough and is a much cheaper way into the Arsenal defence.

    2. Who is the best option for the Reading defence? Harte seems nailed on at 3.8m but has Shorey to contend with. Pearce is the same price and seems nailed on but does he have competition?

    3. Do people think Bunn is still the no. 1 keeper for Norwich? They've signed Camp on loan and Rudd played the game yesterday against Luton. Also, there's the inevitability of Ruddy returning from injury

      1)Avoid Both.
2)Same dilemma here. Acqua convinced me of Harte somehow. World#1 has Harte too. 😉

Read it somewhere that Wilson won't be fit for Poland game in early February,
so he will definitely be out at least until GW 26 (Feb 9), right?
GW 27 which is couple weeks away after that is a more likely return date

Stoke next 2 home game (GW 24 & 26) is definitely the games you'll want to have a Stoke defense. Wilkinson a good shout instead of Cameron for those fixtures?

It'll save me 0.4m to upgrade Nasty to Zab.

I didn't watch the game. But I've read all the commentary, and it doesn't mention anything about a knock/injury. He got subbed off after 73 minutes, but that was most probably because he was returning from his back injury and he would've needed a bit of a rest.

The general consensus is that Torres will play Europa league but if Chelsea are looking like securing top 4 as the currently do, won't Benitez play his strongest side in Europe? He'll be desperate to win a trophy before he's sacked. I'd guess he'd rather win that than finish top 4 as he won't expect to be there at the start of next season.

They reckon there'll be rain for another 6 hours at least... but they have publicly stated that they can't accurately predict the behaviour of this weather system, since it has slowed down in several places on it's way down the East Coast of QLD, dumping more rain in certain parts...

Santi to bale or Luiz to Evra/zab but maybe not for a hit. Is that your original wc in tact? If do save it mate for a time more worthwhile. That's what could get right up there at the end. Don't waste it FFs. Your team is fine.

Mate I got in the top 30 once (hard to believe I know) with about 10 games to go. I had a love/hate relationship with the game at that point cause I was really feeling the pressure, suddenly it wasn't fun anymore. Every decision seemed far more important. Anyway I ended up blowing it and finished outside the top 1000. That wc could be massive for you at the right time.

Got a good team Evs. Just do the Bale transfer.

      And probably Luiz -> Zab.
      Don't like the Baines one.
Zab better long term and got better chance for CS and decent attacking threat as well.

I think you need to wait till after the QPR game just to be sure of the 1st choice strike force and how attacking City play. Tevez and Aguero doesn't provide loads of goals but if the strike force is Aguero and Dzeko then defo buy Aguero

OK, I'm running out of willpower, could someone kindly help out with my mids?

I know where I wanna be in GW26/27, but the getting there bit s a PITA

    Basically, the issue is this.

Bale or Fletcher for the next 2 GW's - who's the better bet?

    FWIW, front 8's are

    Option 1

    Michu, Fellaini, Bale, Walcott, Mata
RVP, Aguero, Remy (or other sub 6 striker who won't play anyway)

    Option 2

Michu, Fellaini, Walcott, Mata + A N Other sub 7 who won't play
    RVP Aguero Fletcher

    Anyone ?????

Yeah, the head says that, but his form is patchy and fletcher's on fire.

Just a bit worried about missing out on a big Fletch haul and the little-bit-too-usual 2 pointer from Bale

    Thoughts about this WC Team:

    Bego Bunn
    Dawson Wilkinson Clyne Harte Demel
    Bale Walcott Lampard Fellaini Guthrie
    RVP Suarez(Aguero) Fletcher

1.3 banked... unsure about Lampard but he's 60-odd pts back and needs some differentials!

    Thoughts appreciated.

Ah shoot. The defense is too lightweight imo.

Downgrade Suarez to Sturridge and you can do a lot with that defense.

Not too sure about doubling up on the Stoke defence considering their form of late.
A City defender in my opinion, is a must.
Lampard is a really good punt.
I'd have Michu over Fellaini on anyday, its a striker vs a CM(that is where he seems to be playing now).
      But overall,solid team mate.
