But did he not hand in a transfer request, have his shirt burned by fans, and then backtrack & withdraw the transfer request? » Read

Hmmm... I’m just stating facts really, he handed in a formal documented transfer request to the club, fans burned his shirt in public, and he backtracked and stayed - we could potentially see similar scenes with Pogba - but he hasn’t yet formally handed in a transfer request... it may come soon though, who knows... » Read

Yeah I’d be shocked if Pogba had that length of tenure at any club... The funny thing is though that he could actually afford to regress significantly for the next 10 years and still come out statistically better than Lamps/Stevie G - were he to even just maintain his average of the last 3 seasons he’d exceed them... were he to maintain this season’s averages he’d be posting records.... but I’m not a fan of him personally. I dislike the mercenary aspect, in the same way that Stevie G actually handed in a transfer request to try to force liverpool’s hand (who could forget the ironic “he kisses the badge on his chest, hands in atransfer request” chants!), Pogba hasn’t yet done that, but he looks like he’s not far off it Who knows, maybe the Utd fans will do what Liverpool fans did to help Stevie “change his mind” and start burning his shirt outside his house and carrington! To be honest, most would be glad to see the back of him from a footballing perspec… » Read

The stereotype of Lampard being a one club man is also something I find fascinating - he was born & reared at West Ham & their fans turned on him when he went to Chelsea for what was big money back then. He also played for chelsea’s Huge rivals Man City. Similarly Stevie G had Liverpool fans literally burning effigies of him outside his family home after he agreed to sign for Chelsea But they were true greats of the game and a joy to watch - the fact that Pogba is currently exceeding their minutes per GA after 3 seasons, 2 & a half of which were under MouMou is scary » Read

He polarises opinion and people get very emotional when discussing him, he does himself no favours with his attitude and entourage, and given the choice no one in their right mind would choose him over a Lampard or a Gerrard for an actual football team. But statistically his record holds water with the best of them - from an FPL perspective he was dramatically under priced and will get a huge hike if he’s still there next year, and will easily justify it if/when he plays to his abilities » Read

Funny I thought a certain couple of 5.5m strikers and midfielders did quite well at times this year 😉 It’s easily doable - although my original point was TAA’s price - that’s the biggest risk to it His averages blow even VVD & Robbo’s out of the water so a mega price tag isn’t out of the question » Read

Good info - the net of all these decisions though amounts to no material change in quantity of penalties awarded before & after implementing VAR? As we said though, that’s not to say there won’t be more (or less!) penalties next year of course (there were 103 this season, the highest ever premier league count has been 106, twice, in 2009/10 and 2016/17 and lowest ever was 52 in 2001/02 so we can have wild swings in quantity of pens without VAR) but if there is an increase/decrease, it’s going to be difficult/impossible to attribute it to VAR » Read

It’s onviously all dependent on prices - but it’s doable - Matt Ritchie’s reclassification not withstanding: Henderson(4.5) Robbo(8.0), TAA(7.0), Laporte(6.5), Digne(6.0), Ritchie(6.0) Salah(13.0), Sterling(12.0), _____ Vardy(9.0), _____ (4.0, 4.5, 4.5, 4.5) This would leave 11.0 for two outfield attackers, either 2 striker or 2 mids, or 1 of each... or 10.0 for two attackers and a wee bit more of a bench etc -maybe a 4-way 5.0 attacking rotation even to pad out the two blank spots If there happens to be one or two decent playing 4.5 mids/strikers then Could actually afford a 6.0/6.5 in one of the blanks - Dwight McNeil at 4.5 would be interesting for example » Read

Not only cool with it -looking forward to it - a 3/4-way rotation is eminently feasible I’m not feeling the love for many attackers this season outside of sterling, Salah, (as long as they're not reclassed to forwards) and Vardy - maybe JWP, Tielemans, Maddison & H-Barnes also... possibly Redmond as I think Southampton will be good under Ralphie Kane doesn't interest me really at the minute Pogba will get a massive price hike As will Rashford Son & Moura same Eriksen probably gone Mane's price will rocket Haz will be gone Richarlison & Siggy big price hikes Good luck trying to afford Jiminez Same with Jota, who could also be a forward Deulofeu big price rise Mili will be priced out of it Zaha might be good if he gets popped back to midfield & doesnt price rise Fraser, Wilson, King, Brooks - need to keep an eye on them Mahrez, Dilva, Bilva, Sane - nothing but rotation headaches And then we have TAA, Robbo, Digne, VVD, Mendy, Laporte all just sitting waiting ready to make a mock… » Read

Hmmmm, I’m actually full sure Siggy will be minimum 8.5 - he almost broke 200 points, even while missing 3 pens, never misses a game, and has the set piece factor - I wouldn’t be surprised if he is 9.0 & will be very interested to see... What price was he the year spurs bought him? I think he was above 8.0 that year & didn’t do well at all... Richarlison I think minimum 8.0 as he was just too destructive when on form - either that or a reclassed up front I could be wrong on both fronts of course, it wouldn’t be the first time (nor the last lol) » Read

I hear you, and intuitively it can sometimes seem that VAR = more pens = get penalty takers even more than you normally would for FPL But there is actually no evidence to support the hypothesis that there is a VAR-driven material increase in penalties - In the 1,140 games from Serie A, Bundesliga, and La Liga directly after implementing VAR there were 347 penalties... in the 1,140 games directly before VAR there were 348 penalties https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2019/05/25/var-impact-on-fpl-may-not-be-straight-forward/ That’s not to say there won’t be more penalties next year of course (there were 103 this season, the highest ever premier league count has been 106, twice, in 2009/10 and 2016/17 and lowest ever was 52 in 2001/02 so we can have wild swings in quantity of pens without VAR) but if there is an increase/decrease, it’s going to be difficult/impossible to attribute it to VAR The timing aspect could muddy the waters, but there really doesn’t look to be a … » Read

Yes on both fronts - lamps and Gerrard are outliers in a hugely positive way that is difficult for most players to get near, yet Pogba exceeds them And yes in terms of the fairness of comparison - thats why we use average as it normalises the comparison for the vastly increased minutes Lamps & Gerrard were able to score G& A over compared to Pogba On straight G & A he’s obviously light years behind them as he’s only played three seasons - but in those 3 seasons he’s smashed their records out of the park by some considerable distance It’s an uncomfortable truth that doesn’t sit well with many who watch Pogba lethargically stroll around that he is up there statistically (to say the least) with the best attacking mids to ever be available in FPL » Read
