  2. Mane a doubt for Gameweek 1 as Senegal make AFCON final 1 day, 3 hours ago

Lloris missed several games last season. That's about 17 points missed. Those numbers aren't compensated by the penalty saves. It's easy to forget about Fabianski's consistent value as many are used to always having a go to 4.5 option. I can almost guarantee that there will be a 4.5 GK to cross the 130 points barrier this season too, but you have to pick the right one. Fabianski should quite reliably cross that mark again. » Read

  3. Norwich injury worries add to Liverpool's Gameweek 1 appeal 3 days, 4 hours ago

Puel built his team around Mahrez which naturally gave his replacement a few tactical advantages from an FPL point of view. Rodgers might stylistically seem to build his team around Maddison, but in terms of Maddison's position he is doing the exact opposite. Maddison will either play in a midfield trio or on the wing under Rodgers. I highly doubt he will play in his favoured 10 role. Rodgers had 10 games in charge and Maddison had an xG of 1.97 and an xA of 2.04 during that time. During the whole season Maddison had an xG+xA of 0.48 per 90 minutes played. That means Maddison had slightly worse numbers under Rodgers than Puel. » Read

Gomez is a different class to most strikers that would be available for them. They need to sign a striker that would be better than Yarmolenko, Antonio and Chicharito. I doubt they will throw money around for anyone. » Read

Even worse is how he got injured. He took a free kick in the dying moments of the game. It hit the wall and the ball went above Ruud. Ruud leaves it for an Odd defender to pick it up, but the other guy doesn't react and a Molde player snaps it up. This miscommunication forces Ruud to do a quick 180° turn and sprint which makes him pull his leg. » Read

Bernardo Silva was a nailed on right winger for a Monaco team that scored 107 goals in Ligue 1. He still didn't achieve double digit figures in either category. It's not coincidences or a lack of quality that is the issue. It's all about mentality, and Bernardo Silva doesn't need offensive returns to be one of the best players in the league. There's no point trying to predict him to do well. » Read

I don't think a player with 30% ownership is flying under the radar. I think David Silva is an under the radar pick. His underlying stats are amazing for a player of that price, and much better than Bernardo Silva's. He's still a top midfielder despite his age, and I'd expect him to start all of the games before CL gets going. » Read

It's more like he is expected to turn into a Pirlo type player and therefore is forced into a role that he's clearly not comfortable with at his age. Rodgers is playing him in a midfield trio and giving him the freedom to attack. He also seems to be instructed to always play Vardy in behind the defence when Leicester win the ball against unorganized defences. » Read

This might sound strange, but the prospect of captaining Sandberg against a struggling Brann and Sarpsborg attack might make me abandon the attack attack plan. Heck, I might even forget about Boli and bring in Moe instead so I can stick with Ohi. » Read

  17. Is it worth paying extra for Wilson over King in FPL? 12 days, 21 hours ago

Digne's stats show that he's overperforming massively in goal output and underperforming massively in assist output. Goals are worth twice as many points as assists for defenders, meaning that Digne is actually overperforming by a great deal. Digne is overperforming his xG + xA by 5.7 FPL points. Coleman on the other hand is underperforming his xG + xA by 1.96 FPL points. That's just over the course of the season, where Coleman ended up missing more minutes. Right now their xG + xA per 90 minutes would imply that Digne will score 10 points more over a 38 game season. Assuming that their bonus point output is consistent regardless of their performance compared to their underlying numbers, Coleman would've scored 7 fewer bonus points over 38 matches, bringing the total to 17 points over the course of the season. That's 0.89 extra points per game per £1.0 m spent. There is a considerable amount of players in the game that will offer higher value than 0.89 extra points per game per … » Read

  19. June discount for Scout membership has expired 16 days, 17 hours ago

Underpriced VVD, Robertson, TAA, Zaha, Perez, Lukaku I think they have mostly done a good job with scouting out potential bargains this season in midfield and attack and priced them fairly. Zaha are a tad too cheap when considering the additional points they will get in midfield. Liverpool defence is way underpriced. Lukaku is still in his prime, and Solskjær is an offensive manager. FPL are gambling that he will not play due to Rashford. Overpriced All Leicester defender are 0.5 too expensive. Alonso. Mustafi. Valery and Vestergaard. Patricio, Coady, Bennett, Doherty and Jonny. Mee. Tomkins. Richarlison and Bernard. McNeil. Vrancic. Overall the price setting is closer to my philosophy, but the Liverpool defenders offer way too much value. » Read

  20. The premium midfield options available to FPL managers in 2019/20 19 days, 13 hours ago

The problem is not that defenders are too expensive. The problem is that you get more value for your money the more you spend on your defenders. Defenders have always offered more value than offensive players, but you found the greatest value in the cheaper defenders, just like you found better value in the cheaper attackers. That meant you could free up money by buying better value players in defence and use that money on more volatile attackers that offered less value. Right now there are only 2 arguments to not have 3 Liverpool defenders. The first is that you might need a Liverpool midfielder for captaincy. The second is that there is a hard cap on CS that make it difficult for the best defences to recreate their CS record of the previous year. » Read
