Members’ Stats Updated

The Members’ Area and Beta Sites have been updated with all the stats from tonight’s games. On the Beta site you can now analyse the team and player performances in detail then, and see just why Charlie Adam once again snatched Fantasy Premier League Bonus Points from the jaws of defeat.

Apart from the obvious (Nani, Simon Davies etc) the other leading performers on the night included United’s Darren Fletcher and Rafael. Blackpool’s full-backs were influential and contributed plenty going forward, while Cameron Jerome’s statistics certainly back up the decision to hand him the maximum 3 Bonus, despite his failure to score to find the net.

Member’s can visit the Beta area here and use the dropdown to switch stats to “Current Gameweek” to make some in-depth analysis.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hows this WC team for GW27-> Based on fixtures.

    Fabianski Begovic
    Rafael Coleman Carr Simpson Givet
    Fabregas Nani VDV Brunt Albrighton
    Drogba Tevez Carroll

    Defence too cheap?

Defence (Carr/Simpson/Givet) is a concern. You could downgrade Fab (for Nasri) or VDV (Bale) for some extra funds to get better defenders.

Sorry, but that's poor advice imo.

Fabregas and Van Der Vaart are far superior choices, and aren't worth downgrading for anyone.

FWIW I am going with a budget defense for my WC too and a rolls royce midfield:

        Lamps Fabs Nasri Nani VDV
        Carroll Tevez Odemwingie

Although if TOT v ARS is postponed in GW 28 I may have to rethink things...

          Interesting. Could be brilliant.

Odem isn't the best budget choice though. Go for DJ or Welbeck if you can.

          That midfield is deadly...

      Not too cheap.

      Weak.

Carr and Givet are poor choices. Get Bramble or Bardsley for Sunderland cover, and maybe a Blackpool defender just to take advantage of the double gameweeks.

Midfield is okay I suppose. I think Adam's better than Brunt though.

No surprises up front. If this is for GW 27, it's good I suppose.

I would WC earlier though. 24 is almost certainly the best time to use it.

        My team for GW24 (without WC - 2 free's!):

        Gordon(blp)

        Rafael(BIR,blp), Konchesky(wol, FUL), Coleman(WHM)

        Nani(BIR,blp), Nasri(WIG), Adam(SUN,MUN), N'Zogbia(ars,AVL)

        Rooney(BIR,blp), Tevez(avl), Campbell(SUN,MUN)

I can't really see how I can make that *much* better with a WC!

Blackpool have a double GW 27.

Fair point on the Sunderland fixtures.

But would not touch Rovers at any cost... We are awful at the moment. Birmingham do have nice fixtures starting GW 27. I might choose to invest in their defense... Carr could be decent I guess.

Birmingham have good fixtures. Without Foster I will definitely seek coverage in defence.

After GW26, Newcastle play MUN from the top 5 and no-one else. Good fixtures. Simpson is 3.9, good cheap to make up the numbers.

          Everton have good fixtures.

          Blackburn, ok, could maybe upgrade.

Blackpool do have a DGW in GW27 but I really just dont fancy investing in their defence. I don't think I'll ever sign a BLP/WBA defender.

@Lew, WC'ing in GW 24 is advantageous in so many ways.

    Here we go...

ManUtd have two double GWs starting GW 24. They also have decent opponents in that run, and it's a great time to start investing in their players.

Arsenal begin a run in GW 24 that's outstanding. 4 homes games in the next 5, and all easy opponents to boot. Tailoring a team to get their players could prove pivotal.

Blackpool still have two more double gameweeks from GW 24 onwards, and if you invest wisely, they could score you good points.

That leaves Liverpool who have amazing fixtures for GW 24 that are there to be taken advantage of.

    This coincides with...

Chelsea who suddenly have 3 away games in 4 starting GW 24 and no double fixtures til GW28. Which means that it's relatively safe to not have Chelsea coverage from GW24 - 27. You can start tweaking your team to get it geared up for Chelsea's double in 28 slowly, and it also gives you time to monitor their form.

That's only the big teams we're talking about! You can also start sticking in budget players who have nice fixtures.

Think about how much you stand to gain from a really good few weeks between GW 24 and 28. If you build your squad well and keep it flexible, it also gives you time to plan for the double GW 27 and 28 and for the rest of the season.

    Camzy,

I've been geeking out and looked into the Foster v Fabrianski keeper stats a bit. You may already know this but, CS and GC stats are very similar. Where the differ (comparing GW 10-21, a couple weeks after Fab got rolling) is in:

Save points- Foster 58 Fabianski 23
Bonus points- Foster 6 Fabianski 2
    Pts/game Foster 4.8 Fabianski 3.8

Fabianski's fixture and team are much better than Foster but, if ppg remain consistent from GW 24-38, Foster would outscore Fabianski 63 to 53.

GW 27 a bit better for Fabianski. Are you reckoning that Fabianski's fixtures coming fixtures will make the difference give him advantage over Foster save/bonus point potential?

I think so. Arsenal also rotate better with other teams than Birmingham do.

The one thing that could swing in Brum's favor though is the extra double gameweek which is yet to be decided.

Good point on the unscheduled double, hadn't considered that. I've gone with Gordon who seems to pair very well with Foster. I'll have to consider my options and will probably decide by WC before GW27. Still seems a bit of coin flip at the moment really, like much of this game.

I was thinking through GW 38. Up to GW 28 I was going to play Foster every game except GW 24 and 28. Wish I had played him today actually.

I see your point though Fabianski looks much better all the way through 27 in comparison.

I was looking at this earlier on this morning and I reckon the best rotation with Foster from now to end of season is Harper.

Fabianski is also a good shout as I think there are more cleanies for him than Foster, but you can really pull in points from Foster's saves and I don't think Fabianski gives you that.

Begovic is the next best rotator with Foster, in my opinion.

Yeah, Drog and Nasri might not be a bad idea but be careful, cause with Fabregas just coming back, he may well take a lot of these points that Nasri has been getting. In his last 5 starts Fabs accumalated a staggering 45 points so an average of 9pts per game! In the same 5 games Nasri got 22 points, which isnt too bad but it does seem that Nasri is not as influential when Fabregas plays..

    1)Injuries
    2)Transfers

    4)Price

Transfers are a biggie , people using their wildcards now might

Isnt/wasnt the best strategy with this winter wildcard to build your team gradually towards being suitably double gameweek playered up for gameweek 24 then use it for gameweek 27 to set up your team for those doubles and beyond?

@Camzy, I appreciate your points on playing the WC in GW24. I have bookmarked that post to revert back to when I am deciding. 😉

Although, the only reason I'm reluctant to use it in GW24 is because I can have this team, without using WC, utilising 2 frees:

    My team for GW24 (without WC – 2 free’s!):

    Gordon(blp)

    Rafael(BIR,blp), Konchesky(wol, FUL), Coleman(WHM)

    Nani(BIR,blp), Nasri(WIG), Adam(SUN,MUN), N’Zogbia(ars,AVL)

    Rooney(BIR,blp), Tevez(avl), Campbell(SUN,MUN)

I can't see how that can get much better. Possibly only:
    Gordon -> Fabianski
    Nasri -> Fabregas

That's a good point you make.

      That's a good team for GW 24.

      Konchesky isn't ideal though...

You know, you might have a point in holding off with the WC if you can field that team readily. It'll take too many changes for me though, so playing my WC 24 is definitely what I'm going to do.

Yeah, I'll have to monitor the Konchesky situation this week. I'll see how it goes but for now the plan is to WC in GW26!

Pretty much picked my WC team apart from the strikers and 1 defender.

No idea which strikers I will pick as of yet.

Carroll will definitely come in, if fit.

Rooney/Berbatov: Uniteds double GW consist of a game v Chelsea. We know United like to play 1 upfront against the top teams which could see Berba dropped. They also have MCY and LIV before/after the CHE game.

Drogba/Tevez: Drogba has a double GW, although 1 match v MUN. Their fixtures are quite even, biggest dilemma.

      WC team for GW 24.

I planned this a week ago and it still looks great.

      Fabianski, Begovic

      Rafael, Skrtel, Bramble, Evatt, Simpson

Fabregas, Nani, Van Der Vaart, N'Zogbia, Adam

      Torres, Tevez, Berbatov

I can save a transfer GW 25 so I have two to use for 27. I think I'll be fine to be honest.

Birmingham, Arsenal and West Brom are the key targets I feel, and I can easily transfer in the likes of Brunt and Dann for N'Zog and Skrtel.

        Hey Camzy, nice score.

I've been thinking about Fab in goals for when I play my wildcard... I assume Beg is best rotation with him seeing you have him above? Who else rotates well with him...

        Cheers.

          Harper and Jussi.

Begovic is ideal though I think because he's cheaper, and Stoke are probably better defensively than either Newcastle or Bolton.

I would go for Foster over Fabianski because I think he will get you more points, especially saves.

I'd also do Gerrard for N'Zogbia and Carroll instead of Torres.

Wigan have horrid fixtures may well go down this season and I'm not sure if super Charlie is going to be enough to rescue them, or whether he'll be interested in a relegation dog-fight. Gerrard also on pens, N'Zog isn;t.

Carroll has a DGW in GW27, including what looks a the moment anyway to be a juicy matchup against Blackburn's suddenly disintegrating defence.

I'd probably want a Man City defender in there too, just to be on the safe side.

          Those two slots are fluid.

          Torres + N'Zog can become...

          Gerrard + Rodallega

          Or

          Drogba + Cleverly

          Or

          Something else depending on fixtures.

They are the two slots I'm willing to change up. I'm playing the GW 24 fixtures here, so Torres + N'Zog looks ideal. Maybe if Gerrard scores really well over the next 3 games I'll switch to him and Rodallega.

Camzy - great post about the merits of WCing week 24. I tried to play out how my transfers would look, trying to get in Carroll & VDV by GW27 since they both have DGWs and Newc/Spurs have good fixtures going forward. Even if I manage that, I still end up with another 4-5 players who need to be phased out after GW27 (Liverpool players, Blackpool players, Zog). That's the only thing holding me back from WCing early, I'm wondering whether it would be good only for the short term.

Without WC and max a 4 point hit, I could get this team by GW24 -

    Foster Begovic

    Coleman Clichy Konchesky Kolarov Rafael

    Fabregas Zogbia Nani Tchoyi Adam

    Torres DJCampbell Berbatov

I think what'll decide it for me is whether Konchesky & Kolarov get back into the team or not. Otherwise too many non-starters. What do you reckon?

Also on your WC, why not just WC right now instead? Except for United, most of the teams that have good fixtures in 24 also do in 23. And on the defender, maybe have a look at Scott Dann or Carr instead of Bramble? Both have a good fixture on 23, and then Brum have serious potential for a double clean sheet week on 27.

I would WC in your position.

Konchesky and Kolarov are too much of a risk. No Tottenham could be costly too. Why don't you have VdV? His price is rocketing, and he's fantasy gold.

Thanks for the pointers too, but there is one massive difference between GW 23 and 24.

      Chelsea VS Blackburn.

I have Cole and Drogba who I want to give one last run out. It's an amazing fixture for Chelsea, I'm a Rovers fan, and watching us play, we're going to get stuffed for at least 3 goals on current form. Drogba (c) is going to be big. Both Cole and Drogba could have double figure scores, and if you compare who I'm replacing them with, it's better for me to WC for GW 24.

Back to the WC though, I'm considering Carr and Dann, but Bramble is cheaper, and Sunderland are good at the back. We'll see how badly I need those funds when the time comes.

Good point, should have checked that you had Cole & Drogba in at the moment.

I actually have VDV right now, picked him up at 8.2. Thing is - I want to get Fabregas in ASAP. Arsenal have amazing fixtures for the next 5, double GW in 27, and then still good fixtures through to the end with no tough aways.

I am struggling to fit in Torres, Tevez, Fabregas, Nani & VDV therefore had thought about offloading VDV. Plan is to rotate Tevez with Rooney/Berba over next 5-6 GWs.

Back to Bramble vs Carr/Dann. I like the idea of having a Brum def in my team. They play so defensively and have a tiny pitch which makes for low scoring games at St Andrews. Sunderland dont really have an easy home fixture till GW32. Brum have Villa, Stoke, Newcastle, WBA & Bolton home before that.

The "protected" status basically means that protection has kicked in at some point and that the figures presented may not be right. It doesn't mean that the player himself is at the time protected.

DJ didn't have protection last night but was affected by it earlier. Adam on the other hand does because his red flag was lifted less than a week ago.

Chelsea players can be replaced in GW 24, to catch price rises, and to rejig my defense.

      That's plenty reason to WC.

Yeah, OK, I see what you mean.

I've been trying to build up my team over the last few GW's to take advantage of GW24 without using a WC, so I could use it in GW27.

However, looking at my team do you think I should be playing it in GW24? My plan was no changes this week and then take Cole out for up to £5.6m defender and upgrade Nasri to Fabs.

(Wanted Rafael but not enough money to do that unless I take a 4 pointer, which seems pointless really).

    Before GW26
    Skrtel->Dann

    Before GW27
Simpson->Jara - or save the trade 'til following week
    Berbatov->RvP

    Before GW28:
    RvP->Berbatov
(if 2nd trade available: bring in Chelsea player - too far out to know which)

This will leave me with (*=DGW player):

    GW24
    Foster (Begovic)
    *Rafael *Evatt *Skrtel (Bardsley Simpson)
    *Nani Fabregas VdV Nasri *Adam
    (Carroll) Tevez *Berbatov

    GW27
    *Foster (*Begovic)
    Rafael *Evatt *Jara/Simpson *Dann Bardsley
    Nani *Fabregas VdV *Nasri *Adam
    *Carroll Tevez *RvP
(and a very tough decision on three bench players and capt)

Not sure about the rotation of Berbatov & RvP I have planned. Could work out - an injury and rotation could easily throw a spanner in the works.

      Planning too far.

Plan for GW 24 WC and that alone. Keep two slots for potential changes.

I've got Torres and N'Zogbia which is great because they can be changed for any striker or mid in the game. 17.5 for a mid and a striker is perfect.

Drogba - Cleverly, Gerrard - Rodallega, Bale - RvP...

It is more a thinking ahead of possibilities. Obviously there will be rotations/injuries/possible postponed games/etc. I seriously doubt that it will work out the way I listed. But an interesting process nonetheless on what could be. Probably a way of avoiding a trade that is a bad one in theory, but how things work practically is another thing.

Plus it probably helped me in the decision on the WildCard useage.

Sounds good, but did you account for possible weather changes, planetary movements and black holes collapsing?

I thought 2012 was the year for black holes to collapse. So no worries there.
