Fantasy Premier League (FPL) 2011/12 Is Now Open

Yes folks, it’s the day (night) we’ve all been waiting for. It’s here. Finally.

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) has opened its doors for season 2011/12.

After a few false starts last week, with the new look needing one or two final tweaks, everything is now in order and we can begin to pick our squads ahead of the big kick-off on the 13th of next month.

So waste no more time and head on over to the Premier League official site to begin picking your fifteen.

We’ll have a further round-up of some of the prices in a little while but in the meantime, put off your bedtime for just a while. FPL is back.

Oh, and in case you are all wondering: Aleksander Kolarov is priced at 6.5. Don’t all rush at once, now.

    Anyone able to get their team page up on Android?

    Only get half the signing on screen come up on my phone.

      You just pinch/scale it on Android. Doesn't work on iPhone though 🙁

      Same issue with iPhone here.

      It needs reporting as loads of people are going to be let down if they can't see the whole site on their iPhones.

      Let's hope there's a quick fix for it.

          Still doesnt work properly. Hopefully they'll sort out these issues in time, last few seasons ive relied on being able to manage my team away from a computer!

    I see a player now gets an assist for earning a free kick resulting in a goal as well as a pen. 🙂

      The moaning on here is just shocking! First it's moaning all summer because the FPL is a little late, and then when it comes it's non-stop moaning over the changes that have been made. for a game that is absolutely free of charge, one should be a little more grateful....

    It finally opens!

    An end to the whinging of Daniel to be replaced by the constant RMT's...bitter sweet.

    Transfer prices have gone mental in real and now fantasy football, Baines, Lampard and Bent were in my provisional team pre launch...that leaves with £9.21 for the other 12 players.

      No, it doesn't work on there, it's just half a screen. I'm sure they'll fix it soon, presumably with an app.

      Acronym fail.

      Arfa got stretchered off last night. Bale is rubbish FPL wise. Balotelli has to get past Dzeko and probably Aguero (and Tevez for all we know). Agbonlahor hasn't been the same since 09/10 and I can't see him doing too much.

      Kelly was a decent choice though, it's a little from left field so it's a nice choice. Besides that, there's a lot of tinkering to do.

        Yeah, Kelly is probably the best cheap back-up goalie choice if you're not into the home/away rotation thing.

      Too much cash spent on defenders. Bale and Walcott not worth their prices in relation to how much it leaves you with for strikers.

      Only Arsenal attacker worth it is RVP. Get one of him Tevez or Rooney. They're already £12m and their price will only get higher as the season progresses.

      You'll have a harder time trying to fit them in later.

        Gone for Carroll as my main striker (with potential to change to Suarez when he's definitely playing). I think Liverpool are going to be a very attacking side this season, especially with the ageing defence they have - I can see them shipping plenty of goals but scoring more, a bit like old Newcastle.

    I'm sniffing around for bargains like a starving tramp outside KFC. No more loitering in Harrods for me it's going to have to be a heavy shop in Primark with a few sprinklings of Jack Wills thrown in for good measure.

    Sessegnon, Kolarov and Given shooed in as bankers...

        He's a bit overpriced, but you can get Scott Sinclair for the same price. He's out of position and he'll score a few. If one of my midfielders go down with injury in the pre-season, Hoilett will probably be one of the first names I'd think about.

    Anyone noticed the change of wording on the assists?

    If after this touch, an opposing player touches the ball outside the penalty area altering the intended destination of the ball, then no assist is given, except if this intervention directly results in an own goal.

    So if an opponent deflects inside the area it's still an assist?

    Could be interesting....

    What do you, the people, think are the bargins out there?

    At the moment, I'm looking at Simpson and Ben Arfa (Newcastle), Brown (Sunderland), and Given (Aston Villa). Sinclair (Swansea) is looking like a tempting gamble/mini-bargain. Anyone else found some gold stink nuggets?

    A bit confused - i tried to login with my previous details but that didn't work. I tried retrieving my password but it said invalid email address. So i signed up again but my history isn't there.

    Presumably me signing up again is sort of starting afresh, but i couldn't get in with the old one - so how do i get it back?

    As for prices - just gotta find the bargains and see who emerges as the cheap essentials. I'm backing Hoolahan to do well. Pretty excited about the new season

    My first RMT, starting 11 plan

    Given (Kenny)
    Hughes, Agger, Enrique, Kompany (Simpson)
    Silva, Sessegnon, Albrighton, Malouda(C) (Ferguson placeholder)
    Drogba (placeholder), Van Persie (VC), (Beattie)

    Contingencies:
    When Given is put on the right team, may swap Drogba for Carroll or Ballotelli (depending on City transfers). If Drogba transfers, same thing. Ultimately, Suarez in for Drogba, Carroll or Ballotelli once he is ready.

    Agger: May turn into Clichy, may come out depending on if Enrique goes to Liverpool, in which case Gibbs is likely in. Need to think on it.

    gutted they haven't included a individual players head to head league format, like american sports fantasy games. I had a look at Fantasy pro however £39 quid per team is far too expensive!
