The Knee Jerk

The Knee Jerk- Taking Liberties?

Three home games and not a single goal conceded- Swansea once again returned a clean sheet this afternoon as Brendan Rodgers’ side finally picked up their first three points of the season.

While the swashbuckling performances of both Manchester clubs provide Fantasy managers plenty options going forward, the Swans continue to offer plenty cut-price options at the back and, in this thoroughly unpredictable Fantasy campaign, are showing a defensive consistency that seems to be lacking the length and breadth of the Premier League.

Michel Vorm defied West Brom at the Liberty Stadium with a string of saves and jumped to second in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) goalkeeper rankings- at 4.1 he’s cementing his position as one of the bargains of the season. Ahead of the Dutchman, the likes of Angel Rangel, Ashley Williams and Neil Taylor –the left-back was stretchered off after a clumsy challenge from Peter Odemwingie, however- are all racking up the points right now.

Shipping four goals in their first fixture, it seemed impossible that Swansea would then go on to concede just one in the following four but, exposed to the harsh realities of Premier League life in the Etihad Stadium opener, Rodgers’ side have learned fast. While the likes of Arsenal are hit for four by a side managed by Steve Kean, the Welsh club are defying all expectation with a series of resolute displays.

In a sense, it merely adds to the frustration of many Fantasy managers this season. There have no doubt been a proportion of casual players who initially added Swansea defensive options to their ranks simply due to the low price, allowing their budgets to be allocated to big-money buys such as Wayne Rooney and Sergio Aguero. Hand one of them the captain’s armband week after week and bang- there’s your big points haul right there. No need for tactics.

As the big names bang in the goals, the dirt-cheap options chalk up the clean sheets- this Fantasy lark is supposed to favour the more dedicated player; study the form and the fixtures, rotate as and when accordingly. At present, though, it seems far from it.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

my best guess is that it was something along the lines of:

"this Stoke are doing better every year - we better stop them or other teams will copy their style and then our crazy spending will be totally wasted"

Well what I'd say is to start the prescription, it is a heavy enough anti biotic but it's been around for years now so I think it is relatively safe. If you do notice symptoms developing and they don't go away quickly then go back to your doctor. http://www.medicinenet.com/nitrofurantoin-oral/article.htm This has a fair bit of info on it.

I work in a pharmacy. All drugs have side effects that they have to list legally just to cover themselves just incase. Avoid alcohol entirely and avoid driving when posible as it could make you drowsy but nothing to worry about. Make sure you complete the course too. Any worrying problems while taking it, just see a doctor immediately as a precaution but it's perfectly fine to take.

Nah, Holdsworth is Aldershot manager... Can't remember who the Southport manager is.

FGR were utterly abysmal today, one of the worst performances I've seen in years. Southport were pretty terrible too, I wouldn't be surprised if they go down. We didn't create anything in the first 75 minutes, with Styche injured and Norwood inexplicably on the bench (I think there might be problems behind the scenes). Griffin was out wide again, contributing absolutely nothing.

Bangura came on just after HT, and was pretty poor too, annoyingly. The goals we scored were very much consolation goals, full time was immediately after our second, so it wasn't as if we actually had a chance of getting a result in the end.

I need Aguero not to start, Rooney to misfire, a dzeko hat-trick and a couple of Young goals to make this week work out ok. I might just go check Paddy Power for the odds on this ;P

Its close, could go either way as you've still got your captain to play. Fulham away will be a test for City i think. Even though they haven't been great this season its not an easy place to get a result. I dont see any big scores today to be honest.

Are there any decent pundits about?

Shearer and Lawrenson, following Arfa-gate, don't know anything about Cabaye and describe Velios as a new signing. I am going to use my two free transfers and swap 'em for Mark and Granville.

To top it off Robbie Fowler thinks we are still in the 09 10 season as he believes Rooney is better than Messi. #sigh#

Wrong on so many levels. Rooney is very good, but even Man Utd fans would agree that Messi is in a different league to Rooney.

There is a valid point to be made that MOTD is for viewing by the 'typical' football fan and definitely not the internet blogosphere and obsessives like many on here are (not belittling that, as obviously I'm in the market of the latter).

Most fans/viewers will just want to see as much of the game as they can and, in all honestly, know chuff all about what goes on in Ligue 1, for example, whether Lille were champions or not. If you just follow Soccer Saturday and watch Match of the Day -as many/most probably do- then you're unlikely to know anything about Yohan Cabaye.

Sounds like you need to move to South Africa Garg.

Supersport over there have a tendency of showing wall to wall premier league of a couple of their channels. You can virtually watch each of the weekends games live one after the other for the rest of the week!

As for the internet, beyond the extended versions on Footytube, I'm not aware of full captures.
