FFS Cup

Paddy Power Cup V – The Last 16

A few weeks back, over 2200 registered and now we are down to the last 16 of the Paddy Power Cup V. They’ve come through seven stages and are two victories away from playing for a prize. The draw for the next round has been and looks a lot like this…

1RaasclartVs.Mr Bungle
2mendersVs.CSKA AWFUL
3NattVs.Declan
4Der-Hammer95Vs.Sc8tt26
5soulman27Vs.runty
6ChickenDevilVs.Timmy Loving
7VereWinnerVs.sleepingmaster
8Bruce BaerVs.Funkyav

Top-seed, and 181st in the world, Der-Hammer95 has a tough assignment against 1,241st overall Sc8tt26. Of course at this stage of the competition there’s no easy games. In fact, there are only two teams with less than 1,000 points.

As luck would have it, those two Fantasy managers yet to hit four-digits have been matched together. 250k in the world VereWinner takes on 127k in the world sleepingmaster.

Last week’s top-scorer, Mr Bungle, once again finds himself as the away team in the first fixture of the round. There’s obviously no disadvantage to coming out of the hat second, and Mr Bungle actually has the effective lead going into his game with Raasclart. The 83 points between them means the ‘visitors’ will go through with a draw.

All ties will be played over the upcoming Gameweek 19, good luck to all!

Please note – with such a short turnaround from Gameweek 19 to Gameweek 20, we’ve made the decision to postpone the Quarter-Finals until Gameweek 21. This will ensure that the draw can be made and published well in advance of any deadline – it will also remove the double gameweek fixtures as a factor and bring the January wildcard into play for the last eight.

    1 FT this round

Ba > Sturridge or save it? Already have Mata, and playing Enrique at the back

I'm not tbh, trying to maximise what I CAN do though. Figure that the only team I have a chance in getting points from over the next two weeks that I can afford to invest in is Stoke, who have WIG and bla.

So I can do Evans-->Woodgate/Shotton or Tierney-->Shotton. Maybe best to go with Woodgate as he seems more likely to start.

      1) Newcastle are away to Liverpool, then at home to United
      2) Ba will be absent for up to 5-6 game weeks
      3) Chelsea have good fixtures
      4) Sturridge's price will increase & Ba's will probably decrease over the next few weeks.

I think the only decent striker options are Studge, Roo, Aguero, Ade, Rvp (and Ba for now)

      I've got Rooney, Ba, Studge.

I'm gonna go Roo > Ade for the dgw

Then maybe Ba > Aguero in 2gw time unless I take a hit and do it earlier

    Any ManU fans on here?

According to FFS team predictions Valencia and Nani will be playing the same positions as last week where Valencia did well and Nani not. If Rooney starts this week will that have any effect as he plays deeper than Berbatov, so could that help Nani more than Valencia? or not make any difference in theory?

    thanks

Even though valencia was positioned at RB he was playing like a winger. Valencia and nani have played with each other vs wolves and vs fulham so that shouldnt be a problem. rooney playing deep could be a problem.

Who do we feel is more likely to keep a clean between City and Spurs this week?

I'm set on Kompany > BAE before the DGW, allowing me to get Ade in for Ba. However, I really can't decide whether to do Komps > BAE before this GW, or wait until after.

No rush. Just don't know which of those two will score better in GW19. Feel it's pretty much a coin toss but it will be annoying if I go with the wrong guy!

I have a tricky decision to make if anyone would like to help me make my mind up..

I would like to do Ba to Adebayor for the double gameweek. It would mean taking N Taylor out for Caulker and Ba to Ade would make it an 8 point hit (1 transfer already played). I have 1.7m in the bank which means I have the exact amount available but no more so need to beat Ade’s rise tonight.

Would I be crazy to take this 8 point hit or should I be considering Modric instead of Ade as a slight differential?

Vorm, BAE, Jones, Enrique, Silva, Mata, Bale, Nani, Yak, RVP, Ba SUBS: NTaylor Moses Simpson Krul

Try Modric and avoid the hit. Think of it as Modric with a 4 point start

    Ok Guys

I have 2 free tranfers this week. Any suggestions?

    Krul Vorm
    Shotton Kelly Jones Simpson Naylor
    Nani Drenthe Walters Bale Silva
    Rooney RVP Sturidge.

I have 0 in the bank. I really only want to use 1 tranfer so i can have 2 for the double GW next weel.
Only thing that comes into my head in Krul to Al habsi to free up 0.3 mil. Any other ideas?

Ok... I'm doing the popular Ba-Sturridge trade tonight. Planning also to bring Bale and another Spurs player (defender or VdV) before the double. Pretty sure Silva will have to go for the moment (bought him late for 10.4 so not losing much). So given that I'll have to take a hit this week or next, better buy Bale now or wait?

Struggling with my starting XI this week. Currently it is:

    Vorm
    Jones, Verm, Enrique, Walker
    Nani, Silva, Mata
    RVP, Ade, Sturridge

    Krul, Ben Arfa, Surman, Naylor

I'm selling Ben Arfa for Drenthe, either this week or next. My main issue is whether to play 3-4-3 or 4-3-3. Newcastle lineup should be out before deadline. If Ben Arfa starts, should I bring him in for Enrique/Walker or leave him benched? If he doesn't start, I'm selling for Drenthe and I then have the same dilemma over Drenthe/Enrique/Walker.

Who would you rather this week?

    Walters and Shotton/Senderos
    or
    Brunt and Smalling/Jags/Shawcross

1st are rotation risks but good option if they play and allow me to carry a transfer?

Those 11 points last GW sort of convinced me otherwise and once Everton get on a run the clean sheets, assists and goals will surely follow for my attacker in defence. Season keeper no doubt.
