Scout Scribbles- Balotelli to Face FA Charge

Mario Balotelli faces a four-match ban after appearing to stamp on Scott Parker. Reports suggest Peter Crouch could also be under investigation for an alleged eye-gouging incident at the weekend, Nani could be out for a fortnight, while Frank Lampard is set to miss Chelsea’s FA Cup game with QPR.

Mario Balotelli has until tomorrow evening to appeal or accept the charges of violent conduct dished out by the FA last night. Having examined footage of the incident in which Balotelli appeared to stamp on Tottenham’s Scott Parker, referee Howard Webb confirmed he would have dismissed the Italian striker. A three-match ban is the normal punishment for such a charge, but with Balotelli already seeing red at Anfield earlier in the season, he now faces a four-match ban which will begin with tomorrow night’s Carling Cup tie with Liverpool.

Should Balotelli look to appeal, he will be eligible for tomorrow’s game, although an unsuccessful appeal could extend his ban further. Given that the FA have already used footage to assess the incident and the fact that we’re dealing with Howard Webb – the FA’s most senior official – it would seem most unlikely that the charge will be overturned. City may feel more confident, however.

For Fantasy managers, Balotelli’s likely absence from three league games against (eve, FUL, avl), will raise the profile of Edin Dzeko as an option. The Bosnian has started City’s previous four games and earned an assist in Sunday’s 3-2 victory. Having begun the season in outstanding form, Dzeko clearly has the potential to offer an effective differential and provide at least a short-term alternative to the 11.1 Sergio Aguero.

Peter Crouch is another striker potentially in trouble. A report in the Daily Mirror claims that the FA have agreed to examine footage of an incident which appeared to show Crouch gouging the eyes of West Brom’s Jonas Olsson. Crouch could miss the FA Cup match with Derby on Saturday as well as league games against Manchester United and Sunderland.

There are further details emanating from Old Trafford concerning the casualties suffered in Sunday’s 2-1 win at the Emirates. On the plus side, The Times are amongst those reporting that Phil Jones’ ankle injury is not as severe as anticipated, suggesting that he has not suffered the ligament damage that Sir Alex Ferguson feared. There’s possibly a chance that Jones will be fit to face Liverpool in the FA Cup this weekend, with reports claiming he is feeling no real discomfort in the ankle.

Nani is more of a concern, however. There are several reports stating a likely two-week absence for the Portuguese winger, who was said to leave the Emirates wearing a protective boot. The Daily Mail claim that Nani has himself stating a likely absence and state that United are set to scan the injury, for fear of a cracked a metatarsal. Elsewhere, Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick are expected to be available for the weekend Cup tie, despite suffering ankle and hamstring problems respectively.

Chelsea hope to have Frank Lampard available for the trip to Swansea next week, after scans revealed that the midfielder suffered just a small tear to his calf muscle in the 0-0 stalemate at Carrow Road. Meanwhile, Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed the reasons behind Gary Cahill’s omission from the Chelsea squad at Norwich.

Gary Cahill trained with the team for three days and there are team principles to learn first, but he had a very good week and showed all his qualities.

Cahill is in line for his Chelsea debut this weekend and could make his first league appearance for the club at the Liberty next week. He is already amongst the most popular defensive signings in the Fantasy Premier League game, attracting over 6,000 transfers so far in the Gameweek, despite his no-show on Saturday. Look out for our Scout Report on Cahill’s prospects later in the week.

Still in West London, and the Mark Hughes revolution looks set to begin with the capture of AC Milan left-back Taye Taiwo. Reports on Sky yesterday claimed that a work permit has been granted as the deal reached its conclusion. Fantasy managers will be monitoring the Loftus Road entrance for new arrivals prior to the transfer window closing, as Rangers approach a run of opponents that could see their Fantasy output increase dramatically. A move for City’s Nedum Onuoha is also mooted, although a potential deal for Chelsea’s Alex looks to be in jeopardy amidst reports that the Brazilian prefers a move to Paris St Germain.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hmmm, we have different views. I think it's a waste of his talent that he is now chosen to be Kevin Davies mk.II at Spurs.

He could be one of the best in the EPL if he just became a bit more selfish and a little less disinterested in goalscoring. I'll admit though he has been the victim of some very dodgy offside flags.

Keane's a great pick now... QPR next to Villa Park. Ignoring the Citeh game, Villa's fixtures are quite nice. At a quite frankly ridiculous 5m he can be easily rotated with a 4th defender or 5th midfielder.

It's daft to buy him before he has played at least 1 game, 5.2 isn't exactly 'cheap' for a defender.

Hi guys, which do you prefer:

    A) Lindegaard, Smalling, valencia
    B) Smalling, valencia, welbeck
    C) Lindegaard, valencia, welbeck

Currently have A, but thinking of going welbeck and Ba for aguero and sturridge so would need to transfer out Lindegaard or Smalling:

    Lindegaard (vorm)
    Smalling, Richards, Williamson (shotton, caulker)
    Bale, silva, sessegnon, dempsey, valencia
    Rvp, aguero, sturridge

Yes, exactly, that's why it would cost me 8 points because I need 2 transfers, Richards for ?? and either Studge or Fletch for Dzeko. Back line is currently: Kompany, Richards, BAE, Senderos, NTaylor

0.7m in bank and already own Silva and Kun.

My original plan was to do Enrique > Kompany but the alternative now is Sturridge > Dzeko. Quite risky as we experienced the spurs holy trinity but tempting indeed.

I'm in exactly the same position at the moment! Also very tempted to go Kun, Silva, and Dzeko! No need for hits and the money's in the bank. Might do it wk 24 though, where Zamora -> Dzeko seems to make sense. Very interested in views though!

Where's Fratboy? I need to give him a bit of ribbing for trying to talk me out of Dempsey(c) last week.

Also I am very torn on this:

    A) Hart Kompany Silva
    B) Hart Kompany Aguero
    C) Hart Silva Aguero < Not sure this will be affordable in the long run.

^^^ As you may have noticed I am getting Hart so none of those stupid answers like D) Kompany Silva Aguero.

Hey CC. I am a bit more of a lurker these days so apologies I missed you.

I want Hart. I can't be bothered with all the other Keeper conundrums, there just seems to be so much uncertainty. If anyone could give me a convincing keeper pairing until the end of the season I would reassess.

For the moment I think Hart Lindegaard is an imperious pairing! Most recoil in horror at the thought of spending that much on a GK though.

yeah...same combo as Tosey went for as well. Can see it makes sense with the home/away rotation + if Linders gets rested then having Hart anyway is no bad thing.
like you, i cant decide whether to double up on attack (aguero, silva) or defense. can see plenty of CS's...but their fixtures should see them score a fair few as well.
Im worried Aguero could rip it up....

IT, you got a sec to help?

    Team currently =
    Ruddy (Westwood)
    BaE Evans Enrique (McCauley Caulker)
    Silva Dempsey Valencia McLean Bale
    RvP Adebeyor (Sturridge)

i've already taken a 4 point hit (!) --on the basis that i've still got my WC and can correct if needs be.
However, question is whether i should indeed WC this week? Problem i have is that i want my 3x Spurs players for WIG, but then want 3xManC players from next week. I'm obviously going to miss a lot of risers + will prob have to settle for a less decent team next week - -so do you think it's worth it to wait?
    Cheers

If you had have asked me a few days ago I would say WC. I did it myself due to receiving some teamsheets before the deadline and also with 9 days between gameweeks and some standout performances from Dempsey, Zamora, Valencia, Sess, McClean, Keane etc I figured there were plentiful price rises on the way. Not sure that is really gonna happen.

With that team and the high Spurs contingent, I wouldn't WC at this stage. You will only really miss out on the Sess price rises.

      P.S. DIE ADEBAYOR DIE.

cheers mate. that's kind of what i've concluded.
Other consideration is that main rival (90 points ahead) has used his this week and it'll be nice to see his team before deciding my last WC.
who are you definites for your WC? Long terms if you will?

p.s. annoyingly i suspect you'll be right about the price rises. going to miss out on Sess, Aguero, Linde, + a few others. But i'll just have to live with that

p.p.s i thought you'd signed an Ade truce until after WIG!?

Thoughts on a 1 GW punt, before WC next Tuesday?

    Vorm / Krul
    BAE Brown Jones
    Bale(c) Valencia Silva Sessegnon
    Adebayor RVP Sturridge

Subs: Enrique Simpson Walters (Bank 0.7)

    - If Jones makes it, it's a decent back 3, with all being at home with good CS potential
    - The midfield 4 speaks for itself, with Walters 3rd sub
    - Ade at home and think this will be the game when he gets on the scoresheet. The risk with taking Sturridge out is no Chelsea attacking coverage, as don't think Mata is worth his price.

So any player that I transfer out, I might yet want for WC and it'll cost a lot more to get back in. Bobby Z I think is worth considering for 1 GW, but it would mean selling Sturridge.

    Any suggestions?

    Current team:

    Krul, Ruddy

    Sessegnon, Bale, Nani, Gerrard, Moses
    RVP, Adebayor, Sturridge

So you're punting Huth quite hard. I may just consider this. I was going to triple up on Newcastle defence for their easier fixtures, but may keep a slot open for Ba's return and rather get Huth.

Either that, or downgrade both Adebayor and BAE enough (Santon and Zamora) to afford Valencia. But only after a few weeks. Utd fixtures are tough and I see people are tripling up on their players, it seems madness to me.

Although Bothroyd might tell him where to go if he's on the pitch ... but yes, I agree.

What can you say about Bolton win over Liverpool (didn´t see the game)?

Was it a one off, or are they picking up form?

It's true though. So many "smaller" teams know they can do one on Liverpool and we won't be up for it. Wait to check on Bolton in other games I would say.

On the Cahill front.... Chelsea play on Jan 31st and I assume Terry will play.

Terry is due in court on 1st February though so I'll be looking at Cahill after that date to see if he starts on 31st January instead of Luiz and/or the verdict on JT and subsequent FA punishment.

Either way, with Chelsea's fixtures (swa, MANU, eve) I don't think I'll have Cahill until February 25 when they play .... yes. Bolton. (At the bridge).

Looks very interesting. I expect he will be a starter come the Everton game anyway but he will certainly be nailed on once Terry is out

    Need some advice guys

    My team is

    Krul Vorm

    Kompany Evans Senderos Bardsley Enrique

    Silva Nani Demspey Bale McLean

    RVP Yak Sturridge

    £.8m in the bank.

Was looking to offload Sturridge âž¡ Dzeko and bench Nani is injured for 2 weeks. Sound good?

I am top of my minileague and 2nd and 3rd have just bought Valencia so dont want to go down that route, plus not too keen on ManU fixtures.

Does my transfer seem ok, or is there other pressing transfers required?

    Morning,

Please can you have a look over my wildcard, any glaring errors improvements anywhere? It leaves me with zero in the bank. My alternative option is to downgrade one midfielder and upgrade a defender? Thank you.

    Sorenson Mignolet
    Evans Simpson Kompany Kelly Caulker
    Silva Dempsey Valencia Bale Sessegnon
    Aguero RVP Wellbeck

strong but i wonder if taking 1.5 mil out of attack and upgrading a defender with some attacking potential would be more value. cant start all 8 up front, and i think with valencia in there, you can drop welbeck, who can be injury prone and rotation threat anyway, to a helguson-priced forward that you bench more often than not, and upgrade a defender who would start much more often.

    Good morning all.

Planning my WC team got Vorm & Ruddy as keepers, do I keep them or change. What would your choice be?

I'll assume you bought Vorm for about £4.4m and Ruddy for £4.0m

That means you can sell at £4.8m and £4.1m respectively.

For £8.9m, I'd have 2 from: Lindegaard, Sorenson & Mignolet and ignore both of the ones you currently have. (I went Sorenson & Mignolet).

Personally, I can't see Swansea maintaining their form and I don't think it's worth worrying about cashing in on some value at this stage of the season - it's points you need, not £.

        +1

I am on WC and just did Vorm > Lindy. I've already got Sorenson and will probably end up with Sorenson and Mignolet, I'm just hoping to gain 0.1m on Lindy's rise(s)

Vorm has been a great player to have from GW2 up to now but his fixtures really are bad since he has few favourable fixtures at home. It's a shame but I cashed in my £4.6m and I'm not looking back!
