Dugout Discussion

Tuesday Dugout Discussion

With the rest of the footballing world tuning in to the occasion at the Nou Camp tonight, the Dugout Discussion opens with it’s eyes firmly fixed on the remaining fixture from double Gameweek 35. It’s not glamorous, it’s Aston Villa versus Bolton Wanderers in a relegation scrap. The team news is in…

Villa XI: Given, Hutton, Cuellar, Baker, Lichaj, Albrighton, Herd, Warnock, N’Zogbia, Heskey, Weimann.

Bolton XI: Bogdan, Steinsson, Wheater, Ream, Ricketts, Ryo, Reo-Coker, M Davies, Petrov, Eagles, Ngog.

Gabriel Agbonlahor misses out due to injury for Alex McCleish’s side, whilst David Ngog is recalled in place of Kevin Davies for the struggling visitors.

The Dugout Discussion is open and can be accessed right here, with Champions League chat still permitted.

With Cahill injured and Ivanovic returning for the second game, am I right in thinking that Bosingwa is actually more likely to play both games than any of the centre halves? First game will probably be Bos-Luiz-Terry-Cole, and the second Bos-Ivanovic-Terry/Luiz-Cole. If Luiz is fit, that is.

Ivanovic is a better RB than Bos

Anyone care to guess how many minutes Steven Gerrard will see over GW36? I'm still hanging on to him for a final week in the hope of a dgw haul but am starting to worry that he will be rested for cup final & only get a cameo. Considering doing swap to Pienaar but probably do Ade > Jelly on friday & don't wanna take a hit if I can help it

it really depends. I am getting one in (Jagielka) for a hit, but I am replacing Kolarov who is a guaranteed 0 points. Although i could get away with playing Verm this week, in 37, I'd have to play either Santon (MCI) or Caulker (mnu), so getting him in this week is a long-term transfer as I can play him v Wolves. So it depends on who you're putting in and who for.

Can I explain my logic on not getting rid of Kolarov. The way I see it we have 3 gameweeks left, I can bench him for all three and be safe that I wont need him at all. At this stage I dont feel like my bench is as useful anymore.

I do as I said above. Maybe you have 1 other defender who is playable, I don't, therefore, I need to get one in and Kolarov is easily the best choice to take out.

I've just done the BBC predictor and put Villa down to lose every single game as a worst case scenario, and it tells me that Villa will stay up on goal difference. πŸ˜‰

    Bolton, Blackburn and Wolves drop.

What do you get? Do it honestly...

What a game lads! That was gripping viewing. All you saw was a Barca rout after Terry's stupidity but the way the team stuck together was class. Ramires at RB with the support from Kalou worked out great.

The unlikely CB pairing of Ivanovic and Bosingwa were solid with Merieles and Mikel in front of them. And Drogba did a great job helping Cole. Cech was immense and you know it was fate when Messi misses a pen and Torres comes on to seal the win. And that Ramires goal was a touch of class. Absolutely brilliant to watch.

Just a shame that Ramires, Ivanovic and Merieles miss the final.

It's a stupid rule, all yellow cards bans should be removed for the final. We all want to see the best teams playing one another.

Then again, I want Chelsea to lose. Would be just like us if we get 4th and then don't qualify!

Chaps. I have my wilcard left to play.

I've made some transfers for week 36 and so far my team looks like this (bench players in brackets)

    Howard (Bogdan)

    BAE Hibbert Simpson (Bertrand Evans)
Ben Arfa Dempsey Bale VDV (Yaya Toure)
    Suarez Torres PapaCisse

Do you think I could do better? Have 0.3 to play with. Should I look to get Cech in for Howard and sell Yaya for a cheaper midfielder? Could swap Bertrand for Shotton to get 0.4
