In Development – The Stats Compare Tool

The “Stats Compare Tool” is the current work in progress for the Members Area. We’re hoping to have a first iteration of this new members feature available by the end of next week, at which point we’ll turn our attentions to producing new event maps on the Match Dashboard and Player Profile.

The Compare Tool has been a long-term aim. It allows for direct comparison of two players, across over 100 statistics, with an instant representation of which player is stronger and in which areas.

The tool fully incorporates our stat maps so, right now, you can compare Average Positions for any two players and, when we’ve added further maps, this will be extended to events like Shots, Crosses, Chances Created and a touches heatmap.

Those maps, along with all the stats in a player comparison, can be fully sliced by our filters. This means you can compare two players over the “last four Gamweeks”, their “last four matches” or compare two players home or away record. You can even take a single player and run a comparison home and away, or compare his form so far in 2012/13 to his previous season’s data.

We’re also adding the ability to switch to average values so you can see minute per event stats for all the numbers shown, leveling the playing field for the comparisons.

The tool will be accessible via the Members Area menu and we’re hoping to provide shortcuts to running player comparisons in the Player stats tables and in the Player Profiles. A compare button will immediately take you to the tool for the players, or player you’re viewing or have selected.

They’ll hopefully be more news on this development, plus a movie previewing the feature, at some stage next week.

Do you reckon the FPL will implement a passing or defending score system, I really want RB to be in the FPL it was quite exciting when your players were on their 4th RB or racked up 10.

If so Alex Song will definitely be in my team, considering him anyway

      I hope not.

Don't get me wrong, I like RB's, but UCL uses that and I don't want to be playing identical games. It's good to have differences.

I'd like it if they reverted back to the human produced bonus system though.

Can't see that happening. Isn't the sponsorship deal with EA Sports the reason that system is used?

I'd just like the bonus system to be better so that it rewards general good play. I can take or leave RB, if we start rewarding all aspects of play it will begin to level out the scores for each player.

Yeah, that's what I don't like about Fantasy games. Unless your player scores or assists you get nothing. A player could be brilliant and make a chance but give it to someone else who passes it to someone who taps it in, you're rewarded 0 for that. Much like Andres Iniesta

It's also the case with Rugby Fantasy games I do, someone can make a break through the line and if it wasn't for him there would be no try, but he passes it to someone who then passes it to another player who scores when he was practically over the line, the player who really made the chance gets 0.

But hey, it evens itself out I think

Don't know if you played the FPL game before last season but bonus points were awarded by a 'man in the stand' who basically picked the top three players completely subjectively. It often caused controversy because people would always feel hard done by when they felt their player had been fantastic but it did give more chance for hard work/great movement/all round play to get rewarded.

I understand the appeal of a completely metric system but I still favour this approach with more 'feel' for the game.

Best advice I can give is don't come here until the matches are done. There are no conversations and there are better ways to keep up with the scores.

Anyone going with 3 Big Guns up top?

Seemed a popular tactic last year for early wildcarders with Rooney Aguero Suarez being the generic front 3

May start the season off along similar lines, price spread could be as below giving you one big hitter in defence and midfield also. Prices will be adjusted obviously to fit in certain players eg 4.5 + 4.5 > 5 + 4.

    4.5 - 4.5
    7 - 4.5 - 4.5 - 4.5 - 4.5
    10 - 6 - 6 - 6 - 5
    12 - 12 - 10

Would be hoping for something along the lines of Aguero Rooney(Torres GW1) Adebayor

          6.5 6.0 5.0 4.5 4.0 26.0
          10.0 10.0 9.0 5.0 5.0 39.0
          10.0 8.0 8.0 26.0

        All about balance...

I think always a 4.0 backup keeper. Whoever rotates with best with your starting 4.5-5 keeps. And i actually like to have two good rotating cashcow 4.0 defenders to go with 3 strong week-in week-out options. Likes of Simpson last year

Lastly SOME money in the bank. Any amount.

Chelsea in the hunt too apparently. Starting bid rumored to be 20mil.

but they dont have quality options

i rate only Rooney and Berbatov and since Fergie dont like Berba anymore they need quality striker who will score at least 20 goals per season

welbeck and chicko are both great and young talented players but they are not top class players just yet

i kinnda like welbeck+Rooney partnership as well

Not a Welbeck fan myself and I like Chicharito as an impact sub, I hightly rate Berba against the weaker teams, but otherwise i'd play Rooney with Kagawa in behind.

If he can't stand the pressure of playing in front of his home fans in a tourney why would he be a hit for a big team in the Prem?

I really hope they would quit giving bonus points. Did you play euro fantasy game? They used recovered balls system instead, giving 1 point every time a player recovered a ball 5 times. So they gave points for defensive work as well.

He's only young. All he needs to do is improve his finishing. There's a reason why he ousted Hernandez in the picking order, it's clear to see how great his partnership with Rooney has been in recent months.

              And drop Carrick? No chance.
Also I don't think Kagawa is fit for a central midfield role at all.
If/when Welbeck gets game time it will be at the expense of Kagawa or one of the wingers.

There will be 50+ games during the season so plenty of rotation. Kagawa should be 1st choice, in which case he'll be playing in the hole behind the striker. I don't see any other position for him really, apart from being pushed onto the wing when injuries occur. Carrick was one of our best players last season, and has been our most consistent performer over the last 5 years. He'll be an ever present again. Welbeck will get lots of games too, more than Hernandez as he's so much more versatile and better all round.

I see our 1st choice lineup being (4-2-3-1):

              DDG
              Rafael Vidic Evans Evra/Baines

              Carrick Scholes(New midfielder)

              Valencia Kagawa Nani

He gets it right more often than not but it makes me laugh when people defend his decisions regardless of the evidence of their own eyes - witness the number of people insisting Bebe/Obertan/Bellion were going to become world beaters after failing time and again.

Ferguson recognises his mistakes long before those fans do!

              Alot is unknown at the moment with Walcott etc but I'd say right now it would be;
Song-Arteta-Wilshere (Rosicky until he is back)
              Walcott-Giroud-Podolski

If Walcott leaves then I'd say Podolski on the right, Gervinho on the left.
I rate Giroud from the few matches I've seen of him, and think he will be a far better signing than Chamakh was. I reckon he could be good for 15-25 goals a season but who knows really!

Liverpool update: Borini deal is 50/50. We're set to make an official offer for Gaston Ramirez, and we're keeping tabs on Dempsey.

He can play LW/CAM/RW. He's played alongside Suarez before and said he would love to play alongside him at club level. However, he's also said that he's content at his current club but would love a move to Liverpool. Liverpool moving in with a 15m bid.

Wouldn't get Moutinho in FPL anyway, he's not fpl material.

Hulk would be about 10.5m i'd say.

No, never said that. Just that he's their 1st choice for a Modric replacement. Looks to be a 2 way battle between United and Spurs.

We need two strikers anyway (I doubt we would sign both though)

Very close to being done apparently. £5.5m and will be the highest paid player at the club.
Interested to see the Lewandowski rumours though.
