Members Area Preview – Stat Map Comparisons

Having added statistical maps to our Match Dashboard a week or so ago, we’ve now brought these new aids into the Player Profiles and, more importantly perhaps, the Stats Comparison Tool.

Our Members can now compare two players head-to-head and get both a statistical view and a graphical view of a players performance. Our new maps allow you to plot stats such as Shots, Chances Created, Crosses, Dribbles, Passes and an array of defensive stats. These can, of course, be filtered by a range of Gameweeks or matches and by home and away fixtures.

The next step is to add a heatmap that will plot a player’s touches on the pitch. We’ll be bringing that to you very soon.

The movie below offers a walkthrough of these new features, running a comparison between Sunderland’s Stephane Sessegnon and James McClean’s over their last six matches.

Memberships are still available for £12.50 up until the first weekend of the season. Click here for details on how to register or upgrade your account and for all our preview movies so far.

    Or
    B) friedel and a 4.0 who never plays?

...all the avb = bad defence comments are making me lean to a?

Good afternoon, just logged in for the first time in a few days... to find out I got Bayern Munich in the draw...

Fairly happy with that, even though it was my third pick behind Arsenal and Barca, and since I failed as manager there last season in the CL it's probably best to hand the reigns over to TW... 😉

Any of the guys in the Bundesliga around these parts at this time?

other than that? well, tbh... better keepers for vorms price. clichy too risky. and j allen. J ALLEN! WHY? Even if he does move... mate... 5.5 mill... id rather guthrie or kanu (DOUBLE capitalise whilst upgrading vorm>HART) accompany hart with a 4mill nothing man...

need an extra .5 to do so? mata to lamps> bang. 😉

yeah man ag/tevez have such good chem together , towards the end were bagging in goals/ rackin up assists every week! but I plan on swtiching aguero to rooney in gw 2, how does that sound man?

how come clichys too risky? I think mancini prefers him over kolarov!
isnt j allen a goot fantasy player? got 117 pts last season . if he does move then i wont be picking him cuz playing time at liverpool may be less.
harts too expensive man.. is he really worth it? dint have many more points than vorm and he costs 7m! u reckon mata will start?

doubt vorm will be as effective this season under an esentially more offensively driven manager. still, i'm chancing williams... i've never liked allen and lamps (being chelski myself) is just a better/safer bet for dgw... wait for cs though...

lamps loves scoring big against the minnows. mata is just an assist machine (albeit nothing wrong with that). Hey... he's a better choice than (so far) woeful hazard

I'm actually considering El Ghanassy who rotates well with McClean; the same price as Noble and plays pretty high up the the pitch for a team who promise to be more attacking this year.

I'm fascinated by the different defensive rotation tactics out there. I see 4 types

    1) Two big hitters and a rotating 3. ( 2ex...... a-b-c)

This tactic is reliable but does use up money. The good thing about a rotating 3 for the remaining spot means you can generally get very good fixtures every week. For me its a good tactic provided you don't already have an expensive keeper. Too much spent in defence will limit your attack

    2) One big hitter and a rotating 4 home and away. ( 1ex........a-b, a-b)

The strength in this is its simplicity, home fixtures and its potential to last till the next WC etc. However it does rely on nothing going wrong and is inflexible as a result. If one of the defences fail to impress the plan in one rotating pair fails. Then it limits your options in finding a replacement that rotates well with the remaining player. It also fails to hold up if one of the defenses keep clean sheets away from home, as much, or more often as they do at home. Eg. West Ham last season.

    3) Budget defence (2ch.....a,b,c), (1ch......a-b, a-b),

Using cheap defenders who have strong fixtures every week (eg. Swansea, Fulham), while rotating other cheap options using plan 1 or 2.

This is a very cheap alternative and it can score well. However it does require serious planning and will most likely use up more transfers.

In conclusion I see a correlation. I expect that the big hitting expensive defence will use up less transfers over the course of the season. Whereas despite savings in money for cheaper defences I'd expect that they would require more hands on management and more transfers as a result.

Sorry the 4th type would be something more freestyle. Its a mysterious catagory that is entirely based on flexibility. Good fixtures are important but so is a casual rotation based on fixtures rather than home and away rotation. A nice balance of cheap, expensive and mid priced options make it easy to make transfers if necessary. This is the option I prefer. Hopefully it works out

I switched the tactics for a few weeks and ended up seeing 2 expensive + 3 cheap looks strongest, but it really eats the budget.

I'm trying to find the balance in 1 exp, 1 mid, 3 cheap and use 1.5mil saved in my MF. I think it gives some flexibility for changing my DF over the season too.

Yeah, looks like a fairly free style option. I'm doing something similar but its 1 exp, 2 mids with good fixtures, 2 cheap

Great post, this has been my time drain for the last few weeks.

I setup an Excel sheet to test all the theories and concluded that two strong defenders and three cheap rotations was the way to go. And yes that comes with a cheap pair of rotating keepers.

Also applied the theory to my mid/att where I have a pair that rotate there too, to allow the rest of the cash to go on the heavy hitters. I like the result.

I think Mark is using the same tactic. For me it dismisses any mid priced options so I think that is a weakness in the plan. However it does make perfect sense so it remains to be seen if the rotating budget options along with the big hitters get you the result.

Not sure if you categorized 4.5m as mid or cheap DF.

            I'm likely to start with a set of 6.5 / 5.0 / 4.5 / 4.0 x2.

4.5 is cheap for me. There are hardly any 4.0's out there.

Looks like a Plan 3 budged defence option. Cheap yes, but will it deliver the points and will it require a lot of transfers as the season goes on?

well hopefully not too many mate... happy with my rotation and remember how cheap/effective jevans was for his tag last season. there'll be a couple like that in time to come that ican trade with hangerland if needs be (ps... im a huge advocate for big brede after having him in my team most of 2010/11 season)

Great post. So far I am on 1 ex and 2 x 2 rotating (5 & 4.5). I think Newcastle and Sunderland offer good rotation as they were good at home and rubbish away. My other one is Swansea & Fulham but last year Fulham got more CS away from home so a bit worried about this but the fixtures look good.

Also not sure about any rotation with a 4m as any of the promoted teams could not get many CS so maybe a bit wasted.

The thing with Michu is he is not a young naive player who will be fazed as many of these other imports may be. I think we might see him adapt very quickly to life at Swansea.

          If not I buy Pienaar.

ned man u coverage for first 3 weeks... save cash and go for valencia... the best scoring/assisting rb in the league (until raf comes back) 😉

    Good morning!

Quite busy last week and doubt if I missed any important news. What are the latest updates that matter to our starting team?

Allen to Liverpool ... Is this helping us to make Graham / Petric decision easier? How does it impact to Swansea defensive abilities? But Allen did not feature in the last friendly matches that Graham impressed with hat-trick, but not sure with the other matches.

Spurs and new GK? ... Any news about this? Friedel still my first choice but I'm not sure how safe he is as no.1 GK. I have seen people posted sometimes about Lloris but not conclusive.

Dawson as Spurs captain? ... I just don't see him starting in the friendly match with Valencia. There's no chance for him and cheap route to Spurs DF, right? What's about Gallas? He's priced 5.0 too.

Add Lukaku on loan at West Brom.

Also with regards to Spurs defense they haven't done too well in pre season. Also I think they will struggle without Parker and possibly Modric particularly when trying to implement the new AVB high line. Its wait and see for me

    Good Morning!

New to this site and whilst I've played FF before I'm pretty poor at it, usually letting my heart over-rule my head and selecting a fantastic value for money real life side with the monies available. But this is FF, there's no margin for mucking about, so i would appreciate some opinions, tips/hints on my first side constructed using this sites data for the upcoming season.

    Federici
    Clichy - Hangeland - Baines
    Silva - Bale - Mata - Lampard
    Jelavic - Lambert - Pogrebnyak

Bench: de Gea / Noble / Gorkss / Fonte

To give a bit of background...
My GK setup is kind of rotation, with de Gea being first choice and Federici coming in whenever there's more potential value to be had. This was based on the advice given in some of the articles.
The rest of my starting 11 are all based on the data provided, a decent back line and solid midfield I reckon. The front 3 is my main concern, having massive potential to either be cracking value or a complete flop.
Bench, Noble is my super sub with the remaining two defenders being selected strictly at the lowest price to conserve funds but i did try and pick the best players in that bracket.

Be interested to know what the seasoned campaigners have to say, would appreciate your feedback!

      I think too midfield heavy.
Prepared to be shot down, but I'd take out Lamps and Lambert and replace with Maloney and Suarez, although to be fair Liv not got the best opening fixtures. So possibly see how first 2 weeks go, then double sub out (including loosing Lamps).
