The Fantasy Flutter with Paddy Power – Gameweek 10

The midweek Capital One Cup ties lit up our week like a firework. Although some teams fielded second string potential over their star talent, Fantasy football’s movers and shakers were still smashing the goals in. Luis Suarez, Gareth Bale, Eden Hazard and a certain Theo Walcott were all in bloom. The question now is whether the midweek goal avalanche will spill over into our weekend’s Premier League action, or will they all get a “touch of the Sunderland’s”?

As always, our “Flutter” selections demand goals from some of our Scout Picks starlets, so let’s see how kind Paddy have been with the markets we threw their way…

Gareth Bale is yet to “explode” as a Fantasy asset and yet he has still managed three goals and three assists. Opponents are perhaps all too familiar with his by-line dashes and weaving runs into the centre and often double up in an attempt to neutralise the Welshman’s galloping runs. The new dad looks to have taken his game to another level of late, though, dominating much of the midweek tie at Norwich – Spurs’ eventual defeat will leave a bitter taste and with a tired Wigan outfit turning up at the Lane, Bale looks good for returns. We’re going to bite Paddy’s hand off for 4/1 on a Bale goal and a Spurs cleanie in this one, so £6 of our tenner is spent.

Whilst Reading suffered embarrassment to Arsene Wenger’s resurgent youngsters, QPR put their feet up and counted the goals flying in with a wry smile. The R’s now play host to the battered Royals on Sunday, hoping the visit of Brian McDermott’s beleaguered outfit hands them the perfect chance to notch a first league win. Adel Taarabt is backed in the Picks this week and Paddy have the Moroccan to score with a QPR clean-sheet at 11/2. Although at first glance this seems a little skinny, fatigue may well put pounds in our pockets as we place £2 of our tenner on this.

West Brom’s James Morrison finds himself right up there with some of the Fantasy heavyweights this term as he revels in his new attacking role behind the lone striker. The Baggies have collected four clean-sheets, whilst Morrison has profited from three assists and two goals thus far. Scout Pick Morrison is 7/1 to score and help make a fifth clean-sheet on Monday against Southampton, and with stats on our side we’re willing to risk a couple of quid on the longer odd.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

OK maybe I will keep my midfield as it is but I have 2FT and really should use one somewhere. Ivanovic out maybe? My other defenders have more potential I think now. I really would like to free up a little cash for a future upgrade of Lambert.

Well for 2 GW's its probably Morrison but QPR's fixtures remain good well after that, Morrison is the safest bet of the 3 and Taarabt the the high risk high return option, Hoilettt may have similar potential but Taarabt out of the QPR players for me. At least if it fails it fails spectacularily with him.

I have succumbed this morning and put him back in my WC team.

Looking at the fixtures we have I would back him to do some damage there. Hughes job is on the line and I think he now recognizes he needs to start with Taarabt and Hoilett in MF.

Worth a punt over the next 3 games to be honest, he's up against the 2 worst defences in the Prem, both at home. He could bang in a few points fro them few games, then ye can always transfer him out if needs be.

That's how I'm looking at it.

If you can afford Huth, get Huth, that's what I'm doing.

      Wilson
      Huth
      Cameron
      ShawX
      Wilko

In that order, since Wilson is off the list Huth is next if you can afford him

I know this will sound crazy but will shout it out just in case.
Does Bertrand have any chance of starting this GW? Ashley was flagged all week (not presently), coming off injury and has a very important CL match next week. The reason I'm asking is because he should score better than Mata as of now, even if the spaniard makes a cameo... 60 mins + chance of CS. Any thoughts on this?

Play and make sure you've got your best option on the bench coming on first.

any outstanding issues here, apart from no RVP:

    begovic
    baines/rafael/vertonghen
    bale(c)/santi/pienaar/sterling/walters
    tevez(vc)/berbatov

    foster/ba/cuellar/demel

already took a 4 point hit getting rid of wilson and silva for vert and walters

      I did.

You might not be able to field 10 looking at that lot.

Another hit will be less of an impact. Ba might play tho.

Only if you think the player you bring in will get something. Demel is the only one I would get rid of for4pts as the others are short term injuries IMO.

I will keep Ruddy as he's a good backup for Begovic.

I don't think so. I've got Jussi/ bego rotation and i think i will only be using Bego until Christmas. You can then sort your keepers out with the Wildcard in January.
