The Big Numbers – Gameweek 14

Gareth Bale and Robin Van Persie top our ICT Index rankings for the midweek matches, with the likes of Marouane Fellaini and Adel Taarabt also flourishing to catch the eye. They all come under focus in the Big Numbers analysis, as we provide our members with a few of the key stats from Gameweek 14…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

He finished the game without anyone noticing, and there have been no rumours about him "leaving the ground with his leg in a box", so, he'll either play this weekend or next. Hopefully: he's not scoring points at the moment, but he's playing well and creating chances,

I may shift him this weekend if he's injured. Regardless of his attacking threat when on the pitch, it's hard to pass up on Enrique's SOT whu AVL if Baines misses even one game.

I just got rid of him.....16 points in 7 games weeks for a 7.6M defender is simply too much. Especially when Enrique is playing LW with. No article will change my mind.

You have to look at potential returns though. Those 16 points don't tell the story of (apparently) stonewall penalties that weren't given to Everton, goals he almost scored and chances he created almost being score.

That said, an injury to him would change my tune as you're right about Enrique.

Agree, Everton can't seem to keep a clean sheet unlike previous seasons.

Everton have only kept 2 / 14 clean sheets this season, you would think in previous seasons they would be on at least 6 or 7 out of 14.

If Everton tightened up at the back, he would be worth keeping....

Currently looking at keepers below, when is Vorm back? If soon then I would avoid Tremmel

Bunn (as straight swap for Ruddy - then get Ruddy back when he is fit)
Guzan - looks like Villa have tightened up defensively and looks like he will keep place ahead of Given
Gazzaniga - cheap and first choice at mo
Szcesny - best choice in Arsenal backline with great fixtures

    A) play two of Demel (CHE), Cameron (wba) and Hughes (TOT)

Cheers lads, I think that confirms the Johnson benching for me. And I'll probably captain Suarez too - when in doubt, go for the homer is a decent rule too.

Toss up between Hughes and Demel - and Chelsea look poor atm so I'll probably go for Demel.

Here's an interesting factlet for you (reposted from this morning).

At the end of last season, Baines was out for a few weeks with a hammy. Everton's first three games without him:

    Everton 4-0 Sunderland
    Man Utd 4-4 Everton
    Everton 4-0 Fulham

12 goals in three games 😯

Is that because the supply is crosses rather than through balls though? I get the feeling that Jelly prefers through balls and Leighton doesn't do them.

I think Jelly likes both tbh. He's a big lad, and can head the ball so I can't see crosses being an issue unless the target of the crosses is now Fellaini instead of him. Does Pienaar do through balls?

Correct - Jelly was the biggest beneficiary with 4 of those 12. Only one was a pen though. Pienaar had 2 and Fellaini had 2. The other 4 came from all over the place.

Maybe it's like England playing with Crouch. No doubt a good player, but often England just resort to hitting balls in his direction and hoping.

In this case, Everton rely on giving the ball to Baines to wip in.

Baines, Maloney and Rooney are going out for a four point hit, which trio should I replace them with?

    A: Enrique, Silva, Giroud

    B: Wisdom, Walcott, Suarez.

C: 4.1 million defender Shorey I guess, Silva, Suarez

Suarez rising tonight. Means I'll have to get Walcott tonight without any team news, ugh.

How much focus are people giving to players being on 4 yellows? I ask because I'm looking at these 2 options this week (both free), and when considering yellow cards, option (2) seems far safer as I'd be getting rid of a player on the verge of a ban with a tough set of games (Michu). Best case here would be for Michu to get booked at the w/e and miss the NOR game. Similarly, with option (1), if I get Suarez in and he gets booked I'll be kicking myself.

Yet, after all that, I still prefer (1). I think.... Thoughts?

    (1) Baines & Ba -> Enrique & Suarez
    (2) Baines & Michu -> Enrique & Walcott

I would prefer 2 only because Demba Ba is playing Wigan at home.

Yeah, I think (1) gives you a great captaincy pick this week, but it also brings in a potential suspension, where as (2) gives you ARS and LIV coverage, removes a potential suspension and avoids losing a big hitter with a prime fixture (Ba). If I do (2) then I'd look to get Suarez in for GW17 (hopefully after he's served his suspension! 🙂

There's no real need to get rid of Michu though, I reckon he's worth keeping, is Walcott worth the upgrade?

Suarez could do some serious damage against Southhampton though, chances are Sputhhampton will concede multiple times, and Suarez is usually involved

See my reply above to Scoutcast - I think it's a tough call. Ba could easily outscore Suarez this w/e, and then if Suarez gets a yellow it's be very annoying.

On fixtures I think Walcott is definitely worth an upgrade. The rest of my midfield is Bale, Silva, Fellaini and Taarabt, so I'd probably find Michu on the bench a few of the weeks running up to the Jan wildcard anyway....

    Bergo
    Cuellar - Enrique - Rafael
    Bale - Walcott - Silva - Michu - Sterling
    Rooney - Berbatov

    Bench: Foster/Gorkss/Demel/Fletcher

Who to captain out of that bunch?

Its probably been discussed a million times over but who is the best option for Baines if he has to go?

I was also considering Giroud in for Ba but i might hold off a week on that seeing as Newcastle play Wigan this week.

If I downgrade Baines I will probably have enough to get Suarez but that suspension is putting me off.

    Thoughts?

depends if long term or not, suarez is worth having for the next fixture alone, and his price is skyrocketing, so may as well enjoy the ride.

for baines, I would get enrique, due to his fixture and OOOOOP, defender playing as front 3? can't see any reason not the get him.

Yeah see I cant get Suarez in one transfer and i think 2 Liverpool players is overkill. So it looks like A replacement for Baines and then see how it goes from there.

Liverpools fixtures look great so Enrique looks a good buy.

Also remember that the people playing fantasy football this year are shocking so if Suarez does pick up a yellow more than likely he will go down in price.

here's my team with 1 FT and 2.1m in bank

    Begovic Foster
    Demel Hughes Cuellar Enrique Rafael
    Bale Mata Silva McAnuff Morrison
    Giroud Suarez Berba

    should I save the FT?

I think mata is going to start for sure at weekend, and they are desperate for goals, so he may well has attackng return. not to mention walcott is a doubt, and fellaini has tough fixture + michu is on suspension tightrope.

Wait and see later in the week. Walcott and Giroud may be a bit much?
And you certainly dont want two players who could be suspended.
Felaiinai will get points against most teams in the league regardless of how tough the fixture is.
he will be going up in price again so maybe consider him?

Sorry, repost! Guys, what do you think? Feel like taking a risk.

Rooney -> Benteke (Differential gamble, don’t want Long)
    Kacaniklic -> Bale

    Then after the DGW:
Fletcher -> Berbatov and play a risky 3-5-2 for the rest of the season.

    Lost on the last page.
Almost had the perfect defence this week if I hadn’t benched Nelsen for Clyne.

    Bego
    Clyne Cuellar Raf Nelsen Gorkss
    Mata Santi Bale Fell Sterling
    Ba RVP Fletcher

Just brought Mata last GW only to have him benched so may as well keep for this weekend when he will start. Thinking of dropping him for Michu after that with Enrique coming in for either Neslen, Gorkss or Clyne. Or I could scrap the whole thing and buy Hazard back now that he plays behind the sriker. Thoughts?

Also tinkering with the idea of swapping Caz for Theo down the line or maybe even Mata to Theo this week and ditching one of the Ars boys later on.

    my team at present is:

    Foster,Begovic
    Jose Enrique,Clyne,Demel,Gorkss,Rafael
    Britton,Pienaar,Sterling,Bale,Santi Cazorla
    Tevez,Van Persie,Giroud

Please place your order of importance upon these planned trannies:

    1) 4.0 defender -> Gibbs (They all have tough matches and 2 aren't guaranteed to play)
    2) Pienaar -> Fellaini (A bit sideways but it really really needs to happen)
    3) Tevez -> Suarez (Although I think Tevez will start this weekend, Suarez has a much higher chance of points)
