Sky Sports Focus

We have a change in leader in the Sky Sports Scout League, a new contender to chase the glittering prize of £25k in the overall rankings. With the Knockout Cup now looming, there’s plenty to cover as we take a look at the movement at the top of our League, analyse the latest transfer trends and look to tonight’s edition of the Fantasy Football Club…

The Scout League

After over a month on top, Charles Mouzon’s “Geordie Lads” are finally toppled as Paul McAnulty’s rapid rise up the rankings has him claim the leadership of the Scout League after yet another impressive Gameweek tally. Paul’s “Housewives Favourite” move on to 1059 points to look down on the pack, just 28 behind the overall Sky Sports leader, as he sits in fourth spot. Charles remains in touch, some 10 points behind Paul, with Simon Davies’ “Nags Head Rovers” back in third on 1037.

For the Contributors, Andy remains the highest-ranked on show – he’s now 30th in our league. Very respectable.

We now have seven players in the top 20 overall rankings, although the gap at the top of the Private League rankings is now just five points.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519. We have a home cinema system, worth £600, available to the winner.

The Knockout Cup

The Sky Sports Knockout Cup had its preliminary round in the previous Gameweek with the draw now made for the first round which takes place over the matches of Gameweek 20 (December 29 and 30). Click here when logged in and you’ll get a full analysis of your first round opponent. The winner of the Knockout Cup will receive a home entertainment package complete with a 3D TV, a 3D DVD player and a free, full Sky HD+ pack for a year. Nice.

Market Forces

Stoke stopper, Asmir Begovic remains the “most wanted” transfer target this week, with over 48% of deals involving the Bosnian keeper off the back of his eight clean sheets, which have seen him climb to the top of the value rankings amongst the keepers. Not surprisingly, Santi Cazorla’s exploits at Reading on Monday night has earned him some renewed interest and he ranks third in the “transfers in” table – over 19% of trades involved the Arsenal man. Cazorla has now returned 20.59 points per million for his modest 6.7 fee – making him the best value player in the entire game. Cazorla’s popularity this week is bettered only by Begovic and Robin Van Persie; the latter is still earning suitors with 21% of transfers seeing his arrival in squads this week following his goal and assist against Sunderland.

Yet again, however, Van Persie is amongst the most transferred out players on show. While Marouane Fellaini’s ban has him shipped in over 41% of this week’s deals, Van Persie has been sold on as part of 21% as Sky Sports managers clear the decks to free up funds, no doubt. Liverpool’s Luis Suarez is the other striker on the transfer see-saw: he was brought in as part of 16% of deals in the last seven days but sold on in 14% of the transfer transactions.

The Fantasy Football Club

Peter Reid is tonight’s guest in the changing rooms of the Fantasy Football Club tonight. He joins Fenners and Merse to roll-out his all-time XI at 10pm on Sky Sports One tonight.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

So can Fellaini go down again tonight, or is 0.3m a week the limit?

Well he started at 7.9, so overall in the GW he could drop 0.3 to 7.6. Or the rise means if just any 3 nightly falls in a GW count he's done.

He has only fallen 0.2 so far because he rose 0.1 on Saturday
So, he'll end up at 7.6 this GW

Interesting question, if you're a tragic sad-sack like me. He has dropped 0.3m this week but he also went up 0.1m at the start so he's only 0.2 down for the gameweek.

I don't think anyone knows whether the 0.3m limit is for total gameweek drops or for net gameweek price. We might not even know for sure because he will likely be extremely close to the drop limit.

That is a really good point. Silva less likely to get goals from those 3 plus he might get alot of joy 2moro just picking Reading off with through balls and the strikers benefiting more from his good play.

Agree. I'm giving him the armband.

No doubt it holds more risk than RVP (though Suarez just as risky with his shot accuracy...!) but if not Reading at home, then when would you?

Alot of money to spend on a player you'd never consider captain material.

How is she looking for this week fellas? Any input greatly appreciated!

My main concerns are who to bench from Berba/Punch/Sterling (leaning towards Sterling due to rotation threat, but form and fixture points to Berba).
Also very torn between RVP & Silva for captain (even buck tooth is entering my thinking 😕 )
Lastly should I play Sagna or Caulker? If he even plays I'm leaning towards Caulks but worried about a 10min cameo so should I just play Sagna instead?

    Bego - (Tremmel)
    Caulker - Nasty - Enrique
    Mata - Silva(vc) - Michu - Puncheon
    RVP - Suarez - Berbaflop

Bench: Sterling - Sagna - McCartney

Puncheon has to play so it's between Berbs and Sterling. I think you should play Berbatov and put Raheem 1st sub.

I also have RVP, Silva, Suarez to choose from. Could pick any one of them. RVP the safe option but I am tempted to get it on one of the other two.

RVP(c) and Suarez(vc) for me. Mata just played 80+ minutes midweek and might not be on his best form against Villa. Silva isn't explosive enough to be considered a captain choice in my opinion but he's a good player to own. Bale is just back from injury against a very defensive Stoke side.

Purely on the basis of rotation threat I wouldn't even consider Mata personally. He's played many games on the bounce now (including a trip to Japan). So we all know Benitez to well, it's just too much of a risk!!!

I have Silva & Mata too and no way I'm giving the armband to Mata. RVP is having mine with Silva vc. If I knew Mata would start then he'd probably be my choice too mind you

Ya I suppose I can't really risk the possibility of Mata rotation considering I have a few other great options. Thinking now it'll be RVP vs Suarez to dwell on until the deadline.

That's it. After the presser, I've decided to shift the armband from RvP to Suarez/Silva. More and more likelihood RvP may just come off the bench for a two-minute cameo and earn me off only one point.

    Best City defender to get?

Cheers, appreciate the feedback. HBA and Lallana were mistakes, but I don't fancy Walcott against Wigan. I think a lot of people are backing the Gunners after their big win, but we need to remember it was Reading and Arsenal have been extremely inconsistent this year. I think they'll draw in a low-scoring game

My 2 cents on the captain options ...

RVP: Yes, he is RVP, and scores a lot of goals, no news there. But Swans away is a tough game and I can see it being a low scoring game. 1-1 or 1-0 perhaps. And there are plenty of United players who can score or assist that goal.

Aguero/Tevez: If Mancini guaranteed either to start tomorrow, I'd probably take a hit to get them in and captain them. But I feel as if one will be left on the bench.

Silva: He is almost guaranteed to start due to Nasri's injury, but then he isn't really a goalscorer. You might have to get lucky if you captain Silva and rely on a couple of assists and possibly a cheeky goal.

Mata/Hazard: Quite good options, I can't see Rafa rotating either this weekend, but then the only thing I know for sure is that Rafa does like to rotate.

Suarez: He will shoot a lot. He will miss a lot. If more of his shots hit the net than hit row Z, then captaining Suarez is a great choice. Fulham are a different animal away from home too, I can see Liverpool scoring a few.

    So, to summarise ...

    Taraabt (c).
