The Fantasy Flutter with Paddy Power – Gameweek 18

We fell short once again last week, which now swings the profit pot back in Paddy’s favour after the likes of Jermain Defoe, Grant Holt and Luis Suarez all failed to notch in their corresponding matches. We’ve got ground to make up and pennies to claw back, then, so this time we threw our bookmaker buddy some less familiar names…

We’ve had our eye on Glen Johnson in recent weeks, not least because he’s shown an attacking intent that’s seen him emerge as a real goal threat from the Liverpool right. Last weekend, only Steven Gerrard’s glancing header prevented Johnson’s goal-bound effort registering for the full-back and, having notched at West Ham in Gameweek 16, we think there’s another goal just around the corner. Paddy are offering 14/1 on a Johnson goal with a Liverpool clean sheet against Fulham and, with Martin Jol’s side stuttering and struggling to find goals, we’ll gladly take this one up for £2 of our stake money.

Jason Puncheon is another name we’ve latched onto as a player who is offering exceptional value from midfield in a Southampton side that attacks with some verve. Puncheon has been the Saints’ major goal threat in recent weeks and, with Adam Lallana missing this weekend and possibly over Christmas, the former Blackpool winger may have to step up his game to help maintain the Saints’ recent run of results. Paddy have slapped 11/1 on a Puncheon goal with a Southampton clean sheet against Sunderland at St Mary’s and we like that enough to toss £3 of our money in its direction.

David Silva is the headline act amongst this week’s Flutter selection; the subject of our recent Monitor article for members, the little Spaniard will surely be key to picking apart the Reading defence and many will fancy Silva for a decent haul. He has just a single goal to his name so far this season but this encounter looks to be a decent platform for him to add to his tally. Paddy certainly fancy his chances and have 7/2 on a Silva goal with Man City clean sheet against the Royals. We’ll take that for £3 more our stake funds.

Finally, we have £2 remaining for our weekly treble. While this normally features a United striker, this time around we thought we’d throw this week’s Scout Pick and differential punt, Edin Dzeko into the mix. We fancy the Bosnian to play some part, if not start, against Reading and that could well bring Dzeko the opportunity to boost this season’s goal count. Paddy are dangling odds of 11/1 on a Dzeko goal, a Santi Cazorla assist against Wigan and a clean sheet for Spurs at home to Stoke.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

why carzola is not my captain this week

with wigan playing 3-4-3, this allows them that 1 of the CBs gets out of that back three line to cover the player in the hole while the 2 midfield mcs drop deeper
thats why i dnt see carz coming good this week
aguero played in the hole against them and got 2
sigurdson and dempsey also returned blank
    fellaini 1 pt
rvp 1 pt off the bench
    mata 3pts
only mid table teams with the likes of michu walters ruiz morrison came good against them when the midfielder push forward

Latest News…The Latics continue to have major worries at the back, with Gary Caldwell, Ivan Ramis, and Antolin Alcaraz all doubtful, while Piscu has been sidelined for up to 10 weeks with a hamstring problems. The raft of injuries is likely to see Emmerson Boyce continue in the back-three, affording Ronnie Stam another chance on the right of the midfield four. James McCarthy remains a doubt with the foot injury which forced him off at Norwich last weekend - scans revealed no serious damage for the midfielder and he has made progress leading up to the Gunners clash. Dave Jones could earn a start, then

      Great post.
I'm Seriously considering Caz (c) this week.
Walcott will open up Wigan’s illness-ridden defence to give Santi opportunities.
It happened at Bradford with Gervinho and Walcott is 10x the player.
Maybe a punt, but gotta be worth it?

A)A key figure in Nigel Adkins’ side, the winger has only averaged fewer shots per game than 5 other midfielders (2.7) and with the Saints tipped to score from a wing play situation, Puncheon may be at the heart of the action against Sunderland this weekend.

I’m really tempted to bench Berbatov and start Puncheon. Should I?

    B) Luis Suarez is tipped to make the most of Fulham’s poor form on the road to get Liverpool back on track. The Uruguayan’s 10 goals this season have come having had as many as 26 more shots than any other player in the league, and Martin Jol’s side have conceded 18 goals away from home this season (2 per game). Liverpool are ‘likely’ to score from a long shot and Suarez has scored from outside the box more than any other player this season (4).

    Luis Suarez for captain?

I'm 400k higher ranked than my cup opponent but pretty worried. Where he has tevez and defoe I have Torres and Suarez and where he has Mata I have Bale. it's a battle of the big hitters.

Captain Aguero, RVP, Silva or Suarez?, Rival is most likely going to captain RVP or Tevez and I'm 8 points behind! 😀

RVP. make sure you don't lose ground by trying to be different. (says the guy captaining Torres)

I'm going for Silva as captain. No rotation risk and Reading are rubbish

I wouldn't bench a striker unless he was Pog.

      Damn.

I just this is going to be one of those bad weeks for me. I'll defo pick the wrong captain. And i've taken a hit. And Rafael isn't playing. Sterling rested. Bugga. What you think?

      Foster
      Davies Sagna Cuellar
      Bale Mata Michu Silva (c)
      Rvp Ba Berba

      Bego Sterling Shorey Rafael

I'm starting Rafael on the off chance, I'll likely have a rather weak looking back 3 of Cuellar, Davies, Clyne

      B Jones - Cameron - Cuellar
      Mata - Michu - Sessegnon - Silva (v)
      Suarez (c) - Berba - RVP
