Tony Pulis will need to reshuffle his defensive options after two of Stoke’s regular back-four fell foul of the referee’s wrath against Liverpool in Boxing Day. Ryan Shawcross and Geoff Cameron will now sit out the Potters’ home clash against Southampton after accruing their fifth cautions of the campaign in Wednesday’s 3-1 win:

The duo are two of four players who are set to serve an automatic one-match ban in Gameweek 20. Villa’s Fabian Delph and Newcastle centre-half Mike Williamson are also sidelined against Wigan and Arsenal respectively.

While those four are unavailable, a quartet of new protagonists appeared on the Suspension Tightrope after receiving their fourth cautions of the campaign in midweek. Yaya Toure, Bradley Johnson, Jean Beausejour and Maynor Figueroa will all need to be on their best behaviour this upcoming weekend, as will 27 other players, including the likes of Robin Van Persie, Michu, Gareth Bale, Jermain Defoe, Adel Taarabt and Kevin Nolan; once Gameweek 20 is out the way, though, the limit is then extended to 10 yellows. So far, a quartet on players lead the race for that dubious honour – Luis Suarez, James Perch, Craig Gardner and Angel Rangel all have seven bookings apiece.

Both Darron Gibson and Carlton Cole are available this weekend, however. The FA have overturned three-match bans handed out to the pair in West Ham’s Gameweek 18 home clash with Everton – good news for those Fantasy managers eyeing up Cole as a possible double Gameweek punt; the 4.9 priced forward has produced two goals, an assist and six bonus points in four games since deputising for the injured Andy Carroll.

Elsewhere, Cheick Tiote returns for Newcastle’s trip to Arsenal after sitting out their 4-3 defeat at Old Trafford, while Marouane Fellaini serves the final fixture of his three-match ban as Everton welcome Chelsea to Goodison Park.

    Alreet lads. Glad to see that DGW discussion above is in line with what I am thinking. Not much point taking hits, as we will all be WC soon after. If I do take a hit, it would be to downgrade berba to cole in order to get wallcott. But not even sure on that. One of my transfers between now and the DGW will be for Fellaini, so that will leave me with only 3-4 DGW players

        trying to sort the defence out and that option looks quite good... I'd presumably make some of the points up during the double week all be it a few weeks away yet

        with money that tight hopefully I can wait till the Jan WC but i'll take the hits if needs be!

        Yeah. If Rafael is confirmed out, I will get rid of him. Planning on downgrading him in the next couple of weeks anyway. But if the 3 remain as doubt, I might as well switch Shorey or Nelson, as Rafael has much more potential upside if he does play. Shorey has been dropped, and Nelson's fixtures go BAD, so not sure which one.

            If you got him at around 6.5m, you would be unlikely to get rid if he only misses two games, as it would cost you much more to buy him back with your WC

            I bought him for 8.1m, so wouldn't lose much. Meaning that I can buy and play a quality player, while most people replace him with someone from their bench.

    A) so got 2 FT atm and i'm considering Tevez+Taarabt-->Benteke+Walcott. Untill the Jan WC this would give a front 8 of: Michu, Snoddy, Mata, Bale Walcott

    B) On the other hand i could upgrade my defence wich is Cameron, J.Enrique, Shorey, Sagna, B.Davies, my option here would probably be getting O'Brien+Tot defender and drop Shorey+J.Enrique

        Everyone's defence seems to be in a bad way. You can play Enrique, Sagna and Davies this weekend and that is good enough, then Cameron is back next week too.

        You can concentrate on improving your midfield I think.

      I played 3-5-2 for a while 2 seasons ago when Big Andy was injured and it worked well. The midfield was VDV, Fabregas, Nani, Adam and somebody else I can't remember offhand. I don't know about this year.

    I really don't want to sell either given the upcoming fixtures but I won't be able to afford B & G if I wait much longer. I know Bale has Sunderland away and they just beat City but Spurs seem to be finding form again.

      I actually just sold Baines & Pienaar myself today. So yea, go for it!

      Did Pienaar >> Nolan (like his fixtures, he HAS to find points and the DGW)

      then did Baines & Yaya >> Luiz & Mata.

      I can always grab Baines again, but he's done zilch for anyone for a long time. Chelsea, as much as I don't like to admit are stating to look good. You've got to be able to see a player in-form and grab him. Where would many of us be without grabbing Michu and/or Fellaini this year?!

      Conversely, gotta be able to part with a player who's not been on, like Baines.

      oops, sorry. And yes, to me, Bale is pretty much a season-keeper particularly at 9.6 right now.
