Continuing our members articles which examine the numbers behind the previous four Gameweeks, we now switch our attention to the midfield area. With a packed festive programme providing hat-tricks for Santi Cazorla, Gareth Bale and Theo Walcott, it was a period which again saw the heavy-hitting midfielder come to the fore. Incredibly, however, that trio were surpassed by the performances of a player who has rolled back the years to recapture a level of returns and consistency that we perhaps thought were behind him.
He will start for the time being for sure. He should keep his place at least until Barfa comes back. Last I heard was sometime in Feb, but nothing concrete
Open ControlsI have Guthrie in my latest wc
Open ControlsBrought Guthrie in with WC...Allows me to have Bale-Hazard-Cazorla-Silva 😎

Should I bench Sidwell at home against Wigan or Santi?

Bottom of last page. REPOST!
Pick one and why gents?
A) Sagna + Zabaleta
B) Gibbs + Clichy
Cant have Zaba and Gibbs.Open ControlsAnyone else going double ARS defence for the DGW? Have had Szczesny and Gibbs in my draft for a while now!
Open ControlsRather the attack like most.
Open ControlsI'm on Szcs, Gibbs & Walcott atm. You think Podolski will start both games? I'd have to lose Szcz and then sacrific Bale/Mata for Santi next week, which is swaying me away from double ARS attack.
Open ControlsNot sure he will start, depends on Giroud, you know he won't last 90 anyway. Santi will be popular next next & is due some points. Can see Arsenal conceding in both tbh. Unlikely to have any defensive cover unless I take a hit.
Open Controls
Not tempted with Gibbs given his attacking threat of late?

Begovic CHE (H) OR Federici WBA (H)
Michu EVE (A) OR Walcott MCI (H)Open ControlsIs it pathetic to hold onto a player simply because they're in one of the games you'll be watching this weekend?
Open ControlsObviously....
Open ControlsNot at all. It will make it fun and after all why do we play this game?
Open ControlsSuarez.
Would love a punt on Ruiz/Lambert etc but I'm a bit scared of himOpen Controls
Lambert Rose!
Open ControlsAny chance Suarez rising before the deadline? I missed Lambert price rise in 10 min 🙁
Open ControlsA) Lambert + Ruiz + Hazard + Gibbs + A.Cole (Lambert & Hazard to Podolski & Fellaini next GW, 3-5-2, Ruiz benched)- 1.9m spare
B) Suarez + Ba + Ramirez/Punch + Sagna + AzpilicuetaOpen ControlsOne at a time, please!
Option A will also leave enough money to buy any of Suarez/Tevez/Cisse etc by GW24Open Controls
Alreet mate. Not really. Some reports say he will come to us. Others say he will go to Germany. Certainly nothing concrete. But if its Marveaux that your worried about, I think he is good until Barfa comes back (at least), regardless of any forward signings.
Open Controlshmmm....
well just curious for one. but also nervous about marveaux. gotcha. you think i might as well keep him in my wc team?
btw haven't looked, how are your fixtures the next 5 or so games?Open ControlsWe've got decent fixtures for a while now. Got all of the bad ones out of the way over christmas!
I would have picked Marveaux in a pre WC team, to allow me to strengthen other areas, as he should play for at least all of Jan. On a WC, I would only choose him as a bench sitter ala ferguson from last year BUT with massive points potential. You wouldn't be able to rely on him so would always have to bench him (except when we have injuries to any of the forwards or cabeye). But when he does get called on, you will either get 0pts or BIG points, as opposed to regular 2s from someone like guthrie.Open Controls
Did you see my WC questions on the last page?
1) 4.3m rotating defender + Bale
OR
2) Big Verm/ Gibbs + Nolan (to maximise DGW exposure)
The defender would become Wilson when fit, and would then upgrade Nolan to Bale in option 2.Open Controlsno i didn't. i think bale i have to say bale as he has qpr and then united and i think he should do well this week and could do well next week (he did in the reverse fixture earlier this season)
Open ControlsHmmm. Seemed to be the feeling on the previous page too. If I would stick with bale then, i wouldn't be gaining on DGW players on my WC, so not sure if it would be worth it.
1) No WC. 8 pt hit, 3 x Chelsea DGW, 3 x Arsenal, 1 x Southampton, 1 x West Ham. Gibbs in defence plus 4 x cheapies, sterling
2) WC. No hits. 3 x Chelsea, 2 x Arsenal, 2 x Southampton, 1 x West Ham. 5 x rotating cheapies, fellainiOpen ControlsBut my main rival has pulled his WC. He also has his other one to play later (I just have 1).
I am currently 6 points ahead. So after hits I will go into this week 2 points behind him. If he loads up on DGW player (which he probably will) then he could put a good lead between us with a WC still to play, and he has been known to play pretty defensively in the past (copying my transfers)
If I WC, i should come out of the week with my lead still intact, and he probably won't get the advantage of the 2nd WC until later in the season.Open Controls
tevez is a c***! as is That cheating uruguayan ballsack suarez! I'm winning without em so why can't you? lol
Open ControlsCalm down lad. It's a FF website. If either of those assets are on your radar, pick them. FF is a math game, not a morality play.
Open Controls
Thoughts on this WC team?
SZCZESNY, TURNBULL
GIBBS, Baines, DEMEL, Mariappa, Wilson/CLYNE
MATA, WALCOTT, Bale, Fellaini, Marveaux
Rvp, BA, LAMBERT
Bank 0.4m to fund Ba -> Tevez next week (If Aguero confirmed out)Open ControlsVery decent. Don't like Baines personally but... Also not sure I'd want to do Ba -> Tevez but we'll have a better idea of that when the time comes 🙂
Open ControlsYeah, not sure about the Ba trade, but if Aguero is out for a few weeks then Tevez should start most games with Dzeko and will be on pens. And first up is FUL who leak goals away from home.
You reckon I have enough DGW coverage? Feels a little light only having 8/9 when it could be 12....Open ControlsYou've got enough. There's nothing to get too excited about in WH/SOT mid with Ramirez doubtful, unless you rate Nolan which I don't, and it's anybody's guess who plays up front for the Hammers.
Open ControlsYeah, and with Gibbs & Baines in defence I'd probably never bench them so any more WHU defenders would be a bit of a waste.
Main concern is Turnbull atm - you think Cech could be back for either of CHE's games this GW? Happy to play Szcz every week after this weekOpen Controlsvvvvvv What he said vvvvv. You could forget Turnbull and get in Ivanovic for Baines, for a week at least. Not sure who rotates with Szczesny - check the article!
As for Cech - no idea!Open Controls
Drop Baines for che defensive coverage. You have fellaini. Turnbull is not nailed on as Cech is in training. Think about shaw instead of clyne - missed the last 2 GW.
Open ControlsI am heading towards that direction with my WC. Baines and limited DGW-ers (3 che, 3 ars and maybe demel)
Open Controls
Here are the changes I'm making this week. All A-OK?
1. Michu ➡ Mata (WC him back in GW24)
2. Play Snodgrass (NEW) over Walcott (MCI)
3. Defence: Gibbs (MCI), Cuellar (WHU), O'Brien (sun)
Bench: Cameron (CHE), Nelsen (TOT)Open ControlsCuellar's done his hamstring. No flag yet but O'Neill didn't sound optimistic for this week. O'Brien also, of course.
Nelsen away but not this week.Open Controls
wc really give more problem than usual.....i already transfer bale in earlier last week...should i stay with this team???
mignolet(fed)
shawcross-demel-cameron(fonte,enrique)
bale-sess-fellaini-oscar-walcott
ba-suarez(torres)
any transfer will be a hit.....or do i really need wc??
plese help me...Open ControlsHey DZers.
So I'm planning to do my WC on GW 24.
Which two defender would you pick out of Luiz, Zabaleta, and Gibbs.
and while Aguero out, which one seems to be more dangerous. Tevez or Dzeko?
Cheers.Open ControlsMy current team has Nelson, O'Brian, Shorey, and Sterling, all who have a good chance of not playing this weekend (i include sterling due to the massive rotation threat). Another reason to WC? Already planning on taking an 8pt hit to bring chelsea players in, NONE of which include the above players.
Open ControlsI activated my WC not because of DGW, but mainly because I have 4 doubtful or non-playing defenders (Cuellar, Obrien, Clyne, Gorkss)
I only made 1-2 DGW-related changesOpen Controls
Behind Mata, who should be the most likely to get 2 games in the Chelsea mids? Hazard? Aware that the Cup game may give some indication...
Open ControlsAny word on Clyne? I would prefer him rather than shaw, but not if he is still injured (note I'm not looking at the DGW, as I probably wouldn't play him, but southampton fits in well with my uber cheap rotation)
Open ControlsIf money was no issue, would people still choose Gibbs over Big Verm for the DGW?
Open ControlsBy definition, money is an issue because it means you are investing in Vermaelen over Gibbs. I'd o Gibbs for that reason.
Open Controls
Seriously chaps, stop going crazy just because of the DDGW. If you're activating your winter wildcard, the priority is to stabilize your team long term, especially if this is your final wildcard.
Just forget Soton players, especially defenders. It's 2 away games. Sunderland's DGW was appealing because they had 2 home games.
The only West Ham attacker you need is Nolan, if you really want one for the DGW. Forget Joe Cole, Carlton Cole and Chamakh. I mean seriously.
Load up on at least 2 Chelsea and 2 Arsenal. That's it. Devise a great exit strategy if you want to get rid of these assets after the DDGW and you're good to go.Open ControlsSense. Probably the below for me
3 ARS (Szcz, Gibbs, Walcott)
3 CHE (Turnbull, Mata, Ba)
1 WHU (Demel)
1 SOT (Lambert)Open ControlsI prefer two attacking ARS rather than two defender.
Gibbs, Walcott, Podolski for me.Open ControlsThat was my other option, but I fear Pod may not start both (competition from Ox, Ramsey, Gervinho etc). Would also mean I can't get Tevez next week.
Open ControlsGerv is off to ACON.
Poldi is nailed bud. He owns that starting LW spot; always gets subbed off though.Open ControlsI think Szcz & Gibbs are more likely to play both games than Pod, however Pod has the greatest potential score of the 3!
Open ControlsAgreed; although I have a gut feeling that Giroud will own this DGW. He was excellent against the Swans.
Open ControlsHmmm, he could be a great shout. Reckon it's worth offloading Gibbs -> O'Brien (or any sub 4.5m defender) to leave enough in the tank for Lambert -> Giroud next week?
Open Controls
Will get the same next gw
Open Controls
But, but, but some people have 14 DGWers 😉
Open ControlsI agree.
Open Controlshow about Soton midfielders? hehe
Open ControlsLambert :).
I like Ramirez but he ain't fit. Nolan's done squat in ages, I'd go with Noble if you've a spot to fill (which I have).Open Controls
So what's the latest & greatest DZoners?
Open ControlsExcept Lambert 😉
Open Controls
Jins, have you really not had Michu all weekend? The only thing I hate about your WC is Turnbull and Ricky L.
Open ControlsNope. Fairly set on keeping Bale, Mata, Fellaini & Walcott, so to get Michu would mean an uber cheap striker and having to downgrade Baines. Lining Michu up for a potential return to my team in GW26. Lambert will probably become Suarez that week also, so I'd start him this week (avl/che), next week (EVE), bench him in GW24, and play him in GW25(wig). Not the worst of fixtures.
Open Controls
Carlos Tevez @ 8.9 and down to 26.5% ownership.
Open ControlsBerb > demba or Nelsen < Luiz? Obviously berb better than Nelsen but city away next and I think I'd captain demba, whose ownership could be destructive.
Open ControlsGot Luiz myself, but your gut is telling you to get Ba. I'd do it myself if it didn't mean selling Suarez. Potential explosion.
Open Controls
Anyone looking at the uber cheap rotating defender strategy? I quite like the look of my
Wilson/ Demel/ Davies/ Turner/ Shaw
Only 8 fixtures against the current top 6 until the end of the season, and all of them at home (only 2 against the top 3, stoke & west ham at home to man utd)Open ControlsYep, definitely. Expensive defenders just seem pointless when you can invest in heavy hitting forwards.
Open ControlsYou found a better combination than the above? I can't afford to pay any more. Don't really trust reading defenders
Open Controls
I've gone for almost the same but double Stoke. (Cameron in place of Turner, but I have Bunn in goal)
Open ControlsCurrently have Azpi who will become Wilson once he's back
Open Controls
I'm an uber guy, so I love that.
Mine is:
Cameron, Cuellar, B Jones, Davies, Demel
Wilson to enter down the line.Open ControlsToo expensive for me!! My team value is pretty poor!
Open ControlsDirt-cheap defense:
Davies
Demel
Martin/Turner
Kilgallon
Baker
Shaw/Clyne
Gunter/ShoreyOpen ControlsIts one thing to highlight the cheap defenders, but the key is selecting the combination that gives you the best run of fixtures. I reckon that mine is pretty good.
Open ControlsRotation is a crap shoot and points come at random times, see Nelsen against chelsea and the like that I've dealt with on a budget back 5.
Open Controls
REPOST:
Dzeko and Azpi
OR
Tevez and Norwich def (or any other for 4.1)
I really want to get Tevez in but cant think of how to. I’ll have to lose one of:
Bale Mata Fellaini Walcott RVP or Azpi.
Which one to lose? On wildcard btwOpen ControlsFat Frank (c), anyone with me?
Open ControlsI'm sure 'Arry willl give him the armband when he gets to QPR 😉

Is anyone having an uber cheap 5th mid in their WC? I'm swaying that way and looking at Marveaux - does anyone think that now Ba's gone he's fairly likely to start, at least for the time being?
