Finally, Gameweek 26 edges towards its conclusion with this afternoon’s match at Anfield. Liverpool are afforded the chance to bounce back from last Monday’s disastrous home defeat at the hands of West Brom, as Swansea arrive on Merseyside. As always, we’ve opened up the Dugout Discussion chatroom for you to air your thoughts:

The team news is in and sees Daniel Sturridge handed the chance to lead the line for the hosts, having recovered from a thigh injury. Brendan Rodgers gives Philippe Coutinho his first start, with Liverpool lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Liverpool XI: Reina; Johnson, Agger, Carragher, Enrique; Lucas, Gerrard; Downing, Suarez, Coutinho; Sturridge

The big news comes courtesy of Michael Laudrup’s team selection. Michu merely warms the bench for the Welsh outfit, with the Swans boss clearly keeping one eye on next weekend’s Capital One Cup final against Bradford. Ashley Williams is also omitted from the first XI and with Chico out injured, Kyle Bartley and Garry Monk line up in the heart of defence – perhaps offering hope to those Fantasy managers who invested in Sturridge and/or Luis Suarez.

    Already made my transfer. Once i bench my remaining Liverpool and Swansea players my team for next week is:

    1. Should I take a hit?
    2. If so, who do I ditch and who for? Im thinking Davies. I have 2.2m in the bank so upgrading him (ill get 4.4 for him) to a 5.5m defender would mean I could upgrade Noble to Sissoko next week. Planning on bringing in Wilson (for Demel) when he gets a start so do I bring in? Taylor? A Norwich defender?

    This might sound a little bitter (as someone who owns Michu, Rangel and Davies) but I think that Swansea have really embarrassed themselves today with the team that they fielded. The cup final is a week away, and while I recognise that they are trying to protect their better players, they forfeited the game today before it even started. Surely you have to field your best team for premier league matches, or at least field a team that gives you a fighting chance of getting something from the game.

      If they had feilded a stronger team they could have had a better result but its the manager's call and nobody elses. Swans should still do well despite the result plus be odds on for the cup. I'd say the fans would perfer them to win the cup than win today(both would have been nice though). Plus swans don't have the same squad depth as liverpool never mind the resources

      All star games are impossible to call. Look at the rookie challenge for example, everyone was saying team shaq's the much better team, but ended up losing to team chuck by 30 odd. Also too many players who can just heat up (Lebron, KD, Chris Paul, Kobe etc etc)

        Strongly disagree, Shaq had no bigs. Davis and Faried dominated the boards. With no bigs the offense was also brainless for team shaq. And Rubio is probably the best PG for this type of a game.

          Agreed about the bigs, but I would take Team Shaq's backcourt any day of the week. Also Faried only got all the offensive boards because it was an allstar game and defensive effort was at a minimum (also the fact that faried was the only player trying to block dunks in the game)
