PlayON Player Picks – Gameweek 2

With John Terry and Olivier Giroud delivering from our Gameweek 1 picks to help the Fantasy Football Scout lineup to winnings, it’s time to turn our attention to another weekend of action and assess what the PlayON player list has to offer.

If you’re new to PlayON, read this season’s introduction article for more information. If you’re already a veteran, listen up for this week’s player selection.

Gameweek 2 Player Picks

Goalkeeper – Artur Boruc
A clean sheet at the Hawthorns on day one included a world class save at the death to preserve the three points for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. Boruc could be busy again when Sunderland roll up to St Mary’s but Paolo Di Canio’s side relied on long-range efforts in their opener with Fulham and the Polish stopper should be up to the task of keeping them at bay. At just 7.1m on PlayON this weekend, Boruc offers an excellent route in for those contemplating Saints defensive cover.

Defender – Pablo Zabaleta
Even with injuries at the back, City will be well fancied to gain a second clean sheet of the season when they face newly promoted Cardiff on Sunday. Fresh from a new four-year deal, Zabaletta will be a key figure in Manuel Pellegrini’s defence and, having displayed his attacking threat with an assist against Newcastle on Monday, looks good value at just 8.8m when you consider the other prices on offer in the City rearguard.

Midfielder – David Silva
City will also be backed to get goals in Wales. They looked fluid and potent in the Magpies drubbing and, despite the home side’s resistance, it’s difficult to see Malky MacKay’s team keeping them out. Silva opened his account in the win over Alan Pardew’s men and will go into the weekend clash full of confidence and ready to orchestrate another victory. Priced at just 8.6m in PlayON, he’s hard to ignore and looks a little more secure of a start, with rotation concerns still affecting our assessment of City’s forwards.

Forward – Nikica Jelavic
The Croatian was given the nod in the Everton attack at Carrow Road and looked spritely and threatening in the 2-2 draw. He’ll surely be handed another start at home to the Baggies this weekend and, while the likes of Kevin Mirallas and Leighton Baines demand double figure fees, Jelavic can be acquired for our strike force for just 9.0m. It rarely pays to take a PlayON gamble up top but Jelavic appears to be a risk worth taking for that price.

How To Play

Once your starting XI is built (you can change your team as many times as you like up to two hours before the first kick-off) you can compete for cash. Entering a multiplayer game for a set stake, you’ll have a chance of wining your share of the pot should you finish high enough in the rankings.

Similarly, you can challenge another player to a one-on-one game, selecting the amount at stake. The likes of Robbie Fowler, Gareth Southgate and Opta Joe are all playing the game and are there to be challenged. The Fantasy Football Scout team is also available to challenge and has a 78% win rate – come and wipe the smile off our face.

The Fantasy Football Scout Game

We’ve also got a £2 multiplayer game, dedicated to our community, which is now open with the prize pot building.

Challenge Your Mates

You can also set up your own multiplayer games with your mates. While we have some Fantasy Football Scout games to enter, there’s an incentive to set up your own this week.

If you set up a £2 game and get 5 players and £10 in the pot, PlayON will add an extra £5 in prize money to your game.

Create your own game at www.playon.co.uk.

Finally, a reminder that we have published a strategy guide, offering some tips for getting the most from your PlayON lineup, right here.

You have to be over 18 to enter cash games at PlayON. If you do wager some cash, please remember to gamble responsibly.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

More the latter two than the former. However, with an RVP team there are so many compromises I would have to accept compromises. Don't think I will do it tho!

    Migs

    Murner - Zab - Collins

    Hazard - Walcott - Coutinho - Mirallas

    Benteke - Soldado - Lukaku

    Bench: Harper, K.Toure, Pozuelo, Burner

I could be wrong but I don't buy the Willian to Chelsea stuff at all. Mourinho is well known as a disciple of Machiavelli - I think he's looking to create as much disruption as possible to other teams. I'm not even convinced he really wants Rooney - I think he'd be just as happy to have a demotivated and potentially disruptive Rooney in the Man U dressing room as he would have him at Chelsea.

    I love Mourinho btw.

Mignolet or Boruc (double up with Clyne)??
Mig for: Tight defence, on high after last weeks penalty save
    Mig against: BENTEKE
Boruc for: Sunderland toothless? Southampton tight at home. 12 points for a CS
Boruc against: Sunderland score I lose 8 points effectively. Soton go all out attack and get caught?

    Which order should I play
Terry (mun) convinced they will concede. set piece threat?

Collins (new) New poor but maybe that was City. WHU solid at back and had CS there last season

Chester (NOR) Only home defender. Are hull good at the back? Nor scored twice vs Eve who are stronger at back than Hul

Turner (hull) Hull poor upfront (Graham et al)

Been watching price increases on FISO and specifically RVPs. A number of reasonable scoring players have risen quickly yesterday and today eg Silva, Nolan and Yaya yet RVP so far today has only moved 0.4% of NTI from 75% to 75.4% and this after a brace.

Does this mean the casuals (apols for use of term) are not getting him in due to his high cost? AND will it mean that if he blanks that he might drop in price quicker?

I don't think rvps price will rocket due to the fact that so many already own him. Perhaps we could see a drop if he blanks. Unlikely though. I thnk come GW4 we will see his price rise by 0.2 at least

Yes probably. But it would take a huge amount to sell him. Close to 200,000 I'm guessing to go all the way from +75 to -100. I can't see him falling unless he blanks two or three weeks in a row which is ver unlikely

I'm sure many of us have to decide whether to play Hazard this GW or keep him on the bench.

In my case, it's Hazard vs. Snodgrass.

    Arguments for and against:
    * Hazard: better player and FPL heavy-hitter; spot-kicks limited due to Lamp's form; rotation risk with this multitude of mids; toughest fixture means he has a thin chance for BAPs; number of Chelsea goals totally unpredictable for me;
    * Snod: arguably main source of FPL points in Norwich; back in the squad after injury; rather a low-scoring game (whoscored predicts 1-1) but a good chance for bonus, especially as Norwich is more likely to win.

    Can you add some arguments?
    Are you benching Haz?

    A) Hazard for Silva

    B) Cech & Anelka for Boruc & Dzeko (for a hit)

Sorry I mean Soldado - my bad my bad. I was thinking about how some other poster has just traded out Walcott.

either choice is ok; many will say Soldado but his travel back from the EL puts me off

If Rooney signs for Chelsea he'll be FPL gold. The midfield's a minefield and Rooney would offer a nailed-on Chelsea attacker & good captaincy option. I already have a plan to get him should I need to 😎

      yep.
also if it happened i think they'd let ba go, he's still got something to offer FPL wise surely. (although 8.4 isn't an ideal price if he left)
