Selection

Anelka In Line For Baggies Return

West Bromwich Albion have this evening announced that Nicolas Anelka will resume training tomorrow and will be in line for selection against Swansea on Sunday.

Following the death of his agent Eric Manasse, Anelka was granted compassionate leave for the Baggies visit to Everton last weekend and, amidst rumour that the Frenchman may retire, was not expected to rejoin the first team fold anytime soon.

Having met with manager Steve Clarke earlier today, however, Anelka is now back in the frame and available to his Fantasy owners. His return is timely given that Gameweek 3 presents the conundrum of Chelsea and Aston Villa’s blank fixtures.

In anticipation of a lengthy absence, we’ve seen huge sales of the West Brom striker over the past seven days, with Anelka’s price dropping to 5.4 in the Fantasy Premier League game after almost 150,000 “net transfers out” prior to the Goodison trip.

It remains to be seen if Anelka can earn a recall and produce any semblance of form for the Baggies given recent events. If fit and in the right frame of mind, he would certainly seem likely to start for Clarke’s side who yet to score a Premier League goal this season.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

About time Michu started banging in the goals.
But maybe the Thursday-Sunday routine is getting to Swansea, like it did Newcastle

Grrr... My plan this week was Haz + Soldado > Paulinho / Barfa + RVP but been crazy busy the last few days and crashed early last night just to wake up to see that Hazard has dropped. Not exactly my first season so its really inexcusable. The point to my little story is now I need everyone to go out and get Soldado in so he can rise and I can sell him 😉 Thanks in advance!

    Why are Chelsea signing Eto'o?

Odd one, with his massive ego + Lukaku and Demba surely being enough cover for a team who doesn't seem to need a striker.

worked under mourinho at inter. Mourinho trusts him and Eto worked tirelessly for him at Inter - mostly out of position tracking back alot too.

He will most likely play up top at chelsea but both eto and mourinho have a good relationship

My Sessegnon punt is looking better by the minute.

          First he blanked...
then he was subbed at HT and got 1...
          then he dropped in price...

...and now he's gone and got himself charged with drink driving

          Cheers, Steph!

plus di canio has said this:
'He was the most positive player in pre-season but it can happen in the approach to the season. Maybe he paid a big price, you don’t know,' said the Italian manager.
'You don’t know if they come from a not-very-good moment. Maybe there is some problem or some rumour. They are humans. They are guys that are intelligent but sometimes when things happen they lose the right way. That is not because they are bad people, they just hear the rumours: a big opportunity, big money. You don’t know.
'Once everything is clear everyone will give everything for the cause. We will all push together. I don’t know why it is happening but it is clear that he is hearing many things because every time I get asked about this it means he can access to the information. I don’t know if it is completely true. You know how the agents work.
'It can affect a performance because he may not prepare properly. Not because he’s a bad guy, because he’s human. Fortunately we only have six days to go but at the end it will all be clear. He is not the only one who can do much better. A few others can. But that will come.'

Loose translation: There's a lot of things I don't like about him and his play, but you can say that about a lot of my players. I won't sell him because it isn't like I have anyone better.

              Gosh.

need some help with city defenders as I am looking to get nastasic but is he sure to start? lescott is the obvious short term option but when company and nastazic are fit he is more likely to be dropped. also the possibility of city signing another center back makes the pick more difficult.

I have Lescott. But as soon as I hear Nastasic is fit, I will swap them.
Nastasic is good value as a season-long defender.

Sorry I've missed the Toure replacement threads...

          Have Coleman, Ivan, ward, Chester.

For 5m, get Dawson? Any other?

          Ok, opinions please...

Play Williams (Palace) or do Brayford > Collins and play him (-4)?

          Cheers!

Don't hit for a def, especially a 4.5m def. Play Williams, you'd need Collins to get a clean sheet just to break even.

          Suggestions please for the best route to do Dzeko to Benteke next week. I'm saving FT this week so 2FT's next week. I need 1m from somewhere for the upgrade, already have 0.5m in the bank;

          Mignolet

          Zabaleta | Coleman | Shaw

          Walcott | Silva | Nolan | Mirallas

          RVP | Lambert | Dzeko

Subs; Lewis | Barkley | Whittaker | Chester

          Bank: 0.5 m

Sammy Ameobi 4.5, came on and supplied the cross last week when Gouffran missed an open goal.
Scores in midweek = definite starter at the weekend, home to Fulham. The ones with the dodgy defence.
