PlayON – £5,000 Guaranteed Pot For Gameweek 4

I'm happy to answer any questions you have about the £5,000 guaranteed game above or about PlayON in general. If you add your questions as replies below I'll answer them all.

A quick bit of background on PlayON for those of you that haven't played the game before:

We are a London based company licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission. We use Worldpay as our payment processing provider and we can accept deposits via credit / debit card from most countries around the world. We cannot accept card deposits from certain countries - US, Turkey, Canada, Norway, Hong Kong and some others - due to regulatory reasons. I've noticed the trend of 4 3 3 teams, and the multitude of RM-WC-T heading in that direction.

The astute Fantasy Manager (or so we would like to believe we are) always looks at a current trend to weigh up whether it's a knee jerk reaction by the masses, to be avoided, or a genuine shifting of tide to accommodate the new environment, and a wave one should get on early.

The evidence is there to see, that low scoring games with a clean sheet benefit defenders. As a consequence assisting midfielders usually miss out and a scoring striker in a 1-0 is not guaranteed 3 points. Also the whole defense get rewarded with a chunk of BPS meaning it doesn't always matter which one you have picked for your team. This is a fundamental change to the game brought on by the new BPS system.

However many will argue that goals will flow, 0-0 and 1-0 games will be less frequent and the bonus points will balance themselves out. While I agree with the former, I don't necessarily agree with the later. Also few believe that this may be the case in general (higher scoring game), but that the Top X clubs (this season) are going to go back to the good old days where their home was a fortress.

The point of this post is about finding the balance between jerking the knee completely and catching the wave early.

Do you really need Migs + 4 heavy hitters (@ 5.5M+) from Chelsea/Arsenal/Tott/ManU/ManC + a 4.0 to take advantage of the trend?

Why is the rotating home fixtures of 4.5/4.0's any less viable in a 433 strategy?

What I'm saying is that why are people instantly going from a defense like this :

When there is no evidence to suggest Mert will outscore the old WHU/SOT combo since they have kept clean sheets and gotten bonuses also?

Burning a WC (with good intent and likely absolute needed by some) and putting all your eggs in the same proverbial basket, leaves you vulnerable to a reverse (or revert) towards historic norms.

Surely there is a middle ground from pure cheap rotating defender with 0 - 2max heavies to the new fab of 4 heavies and 1 bench-fodder. The latter will not allows you adjust your team without multiple hits if goals flow against every1. Even worse, if the RVP show kicks off against Palace moving forward .

Those who went with the 343 RVP-less structure are going to have a hard time adjusting let alone the 433's with 36M in defensive assets (including sub keeper).

I'm happy with my team and don't need to use my WC, but I have spent all my time this week seeing what it would look like if I was convinced I needed to move right now towards an RVP and/or 433 team for GW4.

I've concluded that you don't have to lock yourself into a 433 or 343 structure if you move your defensive rotation from D3/D4 to D4/D5. Shifting 2.0M from defense in the current pure 433 setup allows you to rotate a flat track bully like Nolan, or take the HBA punt on home games, and to play 343 when desirable. If it all falls apart 1 double trade and you can go pure 433 if the trend sticks or to a pure 343 (with or without RVP).
