Monitor – Robin Van Persie

Having opened the season with a double in the Community Shield win over Wigan, Robin Van Persie’s brace in the Gameweek 1 win at Swansea suggested we were in for yet another year of consistent goalscoring. What has followed, however, has been highly unexpected and as United struggle to settle under David Moyes, the Dutchman has a single converted spot-kick to his name in the last six Gameweeks.

Say a team goes 2-0 up at half time, and then the opposition scores to make it 2-1 FT.

Why does the second goalscorer get the winning goal bp when it was the first scorer that broke the deadlock? Not sure I like this rule.

      not true, cos if it finished 2-1 without that 2nd goal it would have been 1-1, so the 2nd goal is the goal that won the game.
      
      As AB (alias BAP Chap) points out, it's a winning goal BAP, not a deadlock breaking BAP
      
      If tonight's game had been a PL game, Rooney would have got the BAP, for Friday none would have been given since the 2nd goal was an OG

      I understand that to win games you need more than one goal if the opposition score. But the winning goal is the winning goal, which is the winning goal. The winning goals are the goals people remember, the goals you are thankful for when you score them.

    Just in case you're not on a wind-up, exactly what benefit would FIFA get from rigging the seedings in favour of mighty Switzerland and Belgium?
    
    Their seeding rules are clear. People might not like them, especially if all they want to see is the traditional big nations (and England?) automatically placed as top seeds, but they're transparent enough.
