Monitor – Robin Van Persie

Having opened the season with a double in the Community Shield win over Wigan, Robin Van Persie’s brace in the Gameweek 1 win at Swansea suggested we were in for yet another year of consistent goalscoring. What has followed, however, has been highly unexpected and as United struggle to settle under David Moyes, the Dutchman has a single converted spot-kick to his name in the last six Gameweeks.

A hat-trick for Holland against Hungary last week saw Van Persie become his nation’s all-time top goalscorer and suggested his eye for goal was as keen as ever – with this in mind, we delve into the data to assess just what sort of impact Moyes’ arrival has made on the Fantasy heavyweight.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

realistically, think he's too old and far into his career for coaches to bother with the work the transition to LM would entail. Not like a simple move deeper for an ageing midfielder, more complex move. Left back, thank very much Patrice, you've been brilliant but seeya.

Sorry Chu - here's what happened.

Your post was downvoted in error by a staff member. There's an threshold on comments being down voted that is triggered by a high rep user downvoting a comment. That threshold automatically removes the comment when it's reached (it's a redundant feature as the downvote is removed now, of course). Sadly, I wasn't around to re-instate it and the staff member didn't have the rights to do so.

I'm now about to reinstate the comment.

Apologies for the series of errors.

    On Lukaku

Anyone else think he might be a bad choice of (c) this week?

He seems much better on the counter attack when there is space in behind the defenders and Hull will defend as long as they can so Everton may not have many counter attacks. They will have to create chances from nothing where maybe a Mirallas could be very valuable.

    Thoughts?

Uruguay need to win by a basketball score to get in automatic qualification.

I do think all this hype around young Andros is a little bit too much. No doubting he's good, pacey, direct and in really good form but I think I'll leave final judgement until at least the end of the season. If he maintains this form, fantastic but it's a long season and it won't take long for the top defenders to figure him out. I am, however, delighted that we have some competition for Lennon on the right side and a bit of depth now (with Lamela) for a position we've been light in for a while.

I agree he's been England's best player (which in itself isn't always a measure of excellence) I just think that there is a danger that the press does what it does best and over-hypes him (with the usual part-time fans following suit). I really do hope that he does indeed turn out to be as good as he looks he could be so maybe I'm just warning myself not to get too excited! 🙂

On this form, yes, doubt AVB will drop him. Any dip though and there are other options. I also suspect that we won't get the full 90 mins in games (but will certainly get you passed the 60mins mark).
