FFS Cup

FFS Paddy Power Cup – Entry Now Open

Fantasy Football Scout are pleased to announce the eighth instalment of our open-to-all, free-to-enter Cup competition, sponsored by Paddy Power.

This is your chance to join our previous winners – donnellyc, Jonty (no, really), Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleepingmaster, Mch and reigning champion, Wild Rover – in our hall of fame.

Seasoned veterans can click here to submit their entry. For full details of when it starts and the prizes on offer, read on…

What is the Paddy Power Cup?

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall standing will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round will take place in Gameweek 11 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Monday November 11 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1017 (plus 7 previous winners who will earn a bye if entered) with the top scores in Gameweek 11 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 12. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

How do I enter?

Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Tuesday November 12

What is the Gameweek Schedule

Each round of the Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 11
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 12
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 13
  • Gameweek 14 – Break
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 15
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 16
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 17
  • Gameweek 18 – Break
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 19
  • Gameweek 20 – Break
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 21
  • Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 22
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 23
  • Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 24

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the top scoring manager from each round will win a £25 free bet from Paddy Power on supply of their Paddy Power username.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 or over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record you entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFS username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from the tournament.

Aguero owners.. which weeks do you plan on captainin him in the next 5?
GW 11 - sun (Suarez has FUL so defo him)
GW 12 - TOT (Very tight defense)
GW 13 - SWA (Got a UCL game b4 that, but agree he's a prime candidate this week)
GW 14, 15 - wba, sot.. Both games withing 2 days of each other followed by Bayern munich in the UCL and Arsenal GW 16(Rooney has villa that week)!!!

I dunno man.. is he worth the hassle when he's prob gonna be captain for just one fixture in the next 6?

Even if he scores loads over those 6 games single digits cant really hurt/help your team much. it's the double digit captain figures that do.. Think i may stick with Giroud/get Benteke. that 3 million difference can be spent on wally etc when back

Good post Valar, lots of patience and care shown by you there. Thank you. I'll capt vs SWA and wba if no one else screams out at me between now and then. Who knows by GW 15 Sot might be falling to pieces.

Easier to trade down than up! Grab the rises now and when it stops trade out if you want?

the thing about wba, sot is that they have a 1 day break inbetween!!(Saturday and then monday night). Gonna be rotation scares everywhere leading most to captain suarez/benteke/giroud etc

Yeah.. that's why i said he's a prime candidate. One fixture out of 6 for captaincy aint all that gr8. Silva should cover him well over those fixtures if you take out the explosiveness of captaincy

He's close but not quite there. Not really fixture proof and no penalties. This is purely FPL.

Suarez in real life >>> Agüero of course.

To each his own I spose. Its quite easy to forget Suaz got his first 4 games against the worst defences in the league. Agüero's been delivering week in week out against tough defences as well.

Rooney and Suarez are more than pulling their weight tbh.. and Benteke is about to go on a tremendous run of fixtures @ 3 million cheaper with huge fpl pedigree. Aguero is gr8.. no doubt. But loads breaking their teams to get him in(8 point hits etc) and he has been deemed essential on here which has caused a panic. Posted something similar last night and the number of non-familiar posters screamin he's essential without evenin tryin to reason was insane. This is why i love the DZ

Yeah sure don't break your team for it.

-4 is decent considering you have a chance you may get to captain one of his explosive hauls.

mate you're speaking a lot of truth but i don't think we can say Benteke has huge fpl pedigree! he was sensational in the second half last season but that's about it as far as "huge" pedigree.

and with that said i'll likely be bringing him in soon 🙂

+1 on benteke though. Has looked gr8 since he's been back. Its the rest of villa that i'm worried about. He might as well Keep Giroud this week and do C) and then get Benteke in asap after. Wish i dint have the michu/mirallas worry so that i could just get benteke in 🙁

Yeah, I'm not convinced Giroud is a must sell with SOU, car, HUL after this week's game. But, Benteke does have juicy fixtures and I expect him to do well.

Main issue with Sess is I'd be getting him in and probably benching him, which feels wrong.

B offers 2 reasonably explosive point scorers this week imo, and I may look to Wally as additional ARS cover from next week.....

I like the look of B. I think that option promises a steady trickle of points over the next few weeks from silva at least. And we know what Benteke is capable of. Would just be concerned about the injuries to the villa attack.

But all things considered, fixtures form etc, would say B

that is a crazy good accy tough.. You bet on draws often? they seem very difficult to predict so that took balls. I'm usually in the BTTS/overs markers now. those are much easier to predict

No I don't. It's just amazing how draws push up the odds. Look I just do it for fun, only put $1 down and won $40. The Chelsea one was a bitch, as I put $10 down and could have won $70.

I'm in a league run by a bookmaker(betxchange) in South Africa. You have to place a minimum $10 bet each PL week on a PL fixture/s. You then compete with the fantasy team the bookmakers select each week. If you beat their team you win $10.(on top of any winnings on your $10 bet) At the end after 38 weeks you also stand to win $50 if you end higher then their team(which is easy as they take hits all the time)

        Decent fun.

Perfect moves for no hit imo.

Cardiff weren't really threatened by Swansea yesterday. They were toothless. Michu wasn't making himself felt. But I reckon Benteke will be a handful for the CAR defence. Plus that run of fixtures...

Silva should trickle the points in consistently. But wouldn't expect explosive scores from him.

Along the lines of he made 11 mistakes with his team selection and that almost everyone was poor.

The abundance of options in midfield (Willian, Mata, De Bruyne etc would have me feeling a little uneasy as an Oscar/Hazard/Schurrle owner. I still expect the latter 3 to start, just saying it wouldn't surprise me at all to see 1 or 2 get benched to let them know they need to perform to remain starters....

There's been a lot of talk that CHE have amazing upcoming fixtures. I kind of agree from a defensive perspective, but their next 3 are WBA, whu, SOT, all of which have been excellent at the back this year.

I'd keep Oscar this week for sure, but a switch to Walcott next week if fit could be great.

Yeah that is tricky - difficult to justify a 4 pointer with your starting 11.

Michu -> Hazard is probably the sensible choice, although perhaps a downgrade to Snoddy/Sess (rotate well with Ravel up to the Jan wildcard) is bette since you have Oscar - will give you funds for a Lukaku upgrade after this week.

If Lukaku is confirmed out this week, maybe Michu & Lukaku -> Silva & Remy, or Sess/Snoddy & Benteke?

          Not easy.

Anyone here doubled up with Silva and Aguero? Anyone here only gone with Silva? Got to say Silva looks a gem of buy(especially considerin that there are a lack of midfield hitters at the moment). This michu injury could be a blessing in disguise.. 27 key passes in 7 games is insane! Is it the pellegrini effect? Silva reminds me of the fpl gem he was 2 seasons ago

As an everton admirer and follower i gotta say Mirallas needs a right kick up his arse and will get it this week. Looked horrid the last 2 games and does not help coleman at all.. Deulofeu did more in 30 mins than mirallas did in the past 2 games. Tracked back and helped coleman and made some dartin runs and did not lost possession easily. The fans are clamorin for a Gerry start and i'd bet(and so do they) that it happens this week vs Palace. I for one am done with him.. 40 points in 10 games was not a bad return though... time to move on

Looks like best Mf option to me. His stats are better than ozil. He lacks explosive goal scoring threat but no Mf have that this year beyond Chelsea and Chelsea are stuttering where as city are beating up teams at home. I don't think it matters whether you have aguero, I don't believe doubling up is an issue unless it reduces your captaincy options and no Mf seem to be captainable this year. If nothing else he will keep a space warm for Walcott.

Should I rid myself of the one named Miguel Perez Cuesta for Silva (-4) ??

The curse of watching the game late means I am now 0.1 short of that move thanks to the drop 🙁

Unlikely to play next match. Silva (probably) playing away to lacklustre Sunderland without their best defensive player (Cattermole). Hard to see that one fail.

I've asked many times, but no answer, why was Silva price protected when he was injured?

It went something like yellow - grey - red flag so he became price protected from memory.

            Re: Silva
Compared to other mid/frw options I just don't fancy him in the current FPL market (there is better value to be had).

I would say yes. He seems a genuine option and his stats are solid. Michu will prob miss the game so it's a -2 effectively at least (-1 considering Sunderland probably won't score!)

    Bench one:
    A. Nasri (sun)
    or
    B. Ramsey (mun)

Ouch, tricky. I prefer form over fixtures, so I would go for Ramsey.

I've Benched Ramsey twice for 13 and 10

Honestly, I would bench him again in your situation

Should I do this for a -4p hit?

    Michu -> Townsend
    Lukaku -> Agüero

Would leave me with a team of
    Mignolet, Davies
    Coleman, Chico, Clyne, Terry, Rosenior
    Oscar, Ramsey, Silva, Morrison, Townsend
    Agüero, Benteke, Sturridge

I think those are solid moves...

I prefer Januzaj myself, but Townsend seems to be more certain of starts...

    Migs
    Coleman, Dawson, Fonte, Shaw
    Ozil, Michu, Ramsey
    Aguero, Suarez, Benteke

    Given, Brady, Ward, Parker

    1m in bank & 1 FT

    A) Michu -> Silva
    B) Michu -> Hazard
    C) Michu -> Oscar

    or any other suggestions ??

Right looks like I need to finally sell Michu.

Problem is, I don't want any other midfielders!

Michu to Ramsey (so he stops scoring points) and Giroud > Suarez to give me Studge, Suarez and Aguero seems like a bit much spent on strikers...

I will get Ramsey in now and I could bet he stops scoring now.
Silverlining there is that at least he stops scoring for 1.5m players, not only for my team.

Lukaku owners, what's the plan of the day?

If he's fit for cpl game that's great fixture for this week.
Then 2 home games, then 2 very difficult away games.
And after that fixtures are like paradise...

I don't have Rooney and frontline of Rooney, Suarez, Aguero is definetely tempting, but still somehow not sure about Rooney.

On the other hand, I haven't even seen Everton last two matches, but still get somekind of feeling that they might be running out of steam for few weeks.

I'm ditching him. Felt he is too uncertain at the moment. There are also a lot of other strikers who are in form.

      See below.

Whatever he does against Palace is a bonus (although, sadly, I fear we'll get jack all out of him this weekend!). He's going afterwards. Remy is better value for that price range.

Or I may just downgrade elsewhere and go for Rooney.

thanks guys, I think in the end it all depends on palace game.
If he scores there, I will prob keep him for home games at least - if he doesn't, it's time to sell.
Not sure for who tough..Rooney in means hit + no Terry, we'll see 🙂

4 point hit mini surgery performed last night for me.

    Vidic > Williams
    Michu > Ramsey
    Benteke > Aguero

I can worry about getting rid of Tekkers later but had enough blanks for now and its not like its a downgrade going to Aguero anyway.

Lukaku only kept in case he plays against Palace but he's another one whose done sweet f.a. since I've owned him. Will probably change him for Remy after this week.
