FFS Paddy Power Cup – Entry Now Open

Fantasy Football Scout are pleased to announce the eighth instalment of our open-to-all, free-to-enter Cup competition, sponsored by Paddy Power.

This is your chance to join our previous winners – donnellyc, Jonty (no, really), Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleepingmaster, Mch and reigning champion, Wild Rover – in our hall of fame.

Seasoned veterans can click here to submit their entry. For full details of when it starts and the prizes on offer, read on…

What is the Paddy Power Cup?

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall standing will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round will take place in Gameweek 11 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Monday November 11 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1017 (plus 7 previous winners who will earn a bye if entered) with the top scores in Gameweek 11 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 12. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

How do I enter?

Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Tuesday November 12

What is the Gameweek Schedule

Each round of the Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 11
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 12
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 13
  • Gameweek 14 – Break
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 15
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 16
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 17
  • Gameweek 18 – Break
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 19
  • Gameweek 20 – Break
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 21
  • Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 22
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 23
  • Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 24

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the top scoring manager from each round will win a £25 free bet from Paddy Power on supply of their Paddy Power username.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 or over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed, we will need to record you entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFS username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter – you must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles. You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament, should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from the tournament.

Sessegnon is a good punt.. and Aguero should do well. Michu had become a liability and the injury was the last straw. not bad transfers(though i'm keepin patience with giroud)

At uner 8 and by already owning Mirallas and Rambo, was there a better choice?
On another note, I currently own the frontline of ARS
        Aguero Rooney Saurez
I have no idea why I feel so wrong bringing in Aguero.

I fully expect the NOR-WHU to be 0-0, if you think Liverpool will concede yet again, then maybe you take a punt on playing Ravel and bench Toure...

    Vorm Price
    Walker K.Toure Nastasic Coleman Chambers
    Hazard Ramsey Michu Ravel Brady
    Suarez Giroud Aguero
    Hv 1FT & 0.9m now.
    Issues being:
    1) Vorm suspended for 1 gw (will prob buy Tremell this gw)
    2) Chambers, non-starter def
    3) Michu, Out of form & injury doubt
    4) Giroud, Tough Fixtures & Better FWDs available
    5) Coleman, Tough fixtures
    6) K.Toure, Pool def out of form

This Michu injury is a tricky one. His drop tonight means I am 0.1m short of Silva. My fault for waiting to d/l MOTD (as I always do).

    So to get rid....

    Michu --> Coutinho

    Then for -4
    Ozil --> Silva

Gives me cash for Lukaku to Benteke the week after.

    Thoughts?

He needs to get rid of Michu whatever the news is.

On current form he'd be overpriced at £5.9m let alone £8.9m. Downgrade him to get Rooney for Lukaku after this gw imo.

I've owned both and to be honest with you right now I'd keep Giroud.

Lukaku has horrid fixtures and no form. Benteke has great fixtures but is coming off injury and has done nothing since. Fixtures are only good if you can take advantage of them. Villa look toothless as an attacking force right now.

Giroud is playing for the league leaders who just beat Liverpool and are scoring for fun right now. Why get rid of a good thing now when Arsenal are showing you that fixtures are irrelevant to them?

So? Benteke has been unlucky but ultimately it's Lukaku who has been scoring and doing better, and that will surely continue considering he is Evertons main outlet

            So? So?

So if those went in then Benteke would have scored 13pts vs Lukaku's 1 and he would be the obvious one to get in as Villa have Car(h) up next and Lukaku has a slight niggle.

Is that just poor finishing then? 😛 Haha, I don't think it's as cut and dry as that. Cardiff are a strong defensive team and Villa aren't scoring - end of. Lukaku, if he plays, which is not unlikely, is away to Palace - enough said

You get nothing in fpl for going close but not scoring. You also get minus points for missing pens, which Benteke did against Everton.

My point is that holding onto Giroud looks to be a wiser course of action than punting on one guy who has horrid fixtures after next week and another who hasn't scored since coming back from injury.

True, there are no margins for errors.

But, all I'm saying is if that Peno went in and he had scored big vs Westham then Gru to Benteke was the obv trade considering most have Ramsey/Ozil.

Not sure how worried I should be with Sturridge and no Suarez. I feel pretty comfortably captaining him, but Suarez has really punished him in terms of both stats and returns since he came back. Even taking some set-pieces now as well.

So in other words how worried would you? -4 points type of worried?

I've never really liked the "long-term" argument because it's often used for players who you're not sure how long you will be keeping. In this case I think it could apply though, (at least) one LFC striker seems dare-I-say essential?

Ok how about the short term argument, Suarez will outscore Sturridge 😀 Suarez is also playing further forward compared to Sturridge and Sturridge is obviously dropping deeper now. People thought Sturridge would play infront which was the only reason worth keeping him instead.

Benteke,Lukaku,Giroud and Sturridge wont be anywhere near close to those 3 specialy cause they are not explosive enought

Rooney has never scored over 14 goals without penalties and playing as the furthest forward. Most of his shots are from outside the box, and he is not shooting as much as Suarez and Aguero. The assists help his score, but I think he wont be an elite option. Just someone to target for his good runs

both sharing points this seson. Do you know there is no 2 up front ever to score over 20 goals in the history if PL, as they usually share shots.

Ramsey has scored more this season then all his previous seasons put together.

        These things happen.

Ramsay can be explained a bit due to him being further forward with all the attacking mids missing, Ozil helping him and him being finally over his injury. His shots on target to Shots ratio has improved like 100 % too.

Rooney has no improved stats, but is performing constantly, he will be solid for about 16 goals 8-10 assists, but not a must have or very explosive. But as i always say it is just my opionion

I think it has to be suarez aguero lukaku.. only because of the value u get with lukaku (got him at 7.5).. alot of value there.

7 goals against Norwich, only 1 attacking return. His minutes seem to get restricted as well.

One of the strongest midfield options of course, but the best? I'm not so sure.
