Got to deliver the goods otherwise the theory is just a facade. I think even his tactics have come into question now as they're simply dogma (spurs fans will lose sleep for years to come at the mention of inverted wingers) as opposed to evidence based. If it doesn't work with the players, change it. The high line didn't work at Chelsea from what I saw because his defenders were slow - he stick to this as dogma, again. If he is not evidence based, he is in his own way as set in his ways as the stereotypical English manager, just more fashionable.

Well said. He's from the Mourinho School of Management though. Adamant on using his own theory/system and players have to find a way to play around it. I thought AVB this year would bring back the days of Mourinho in 2004-05, but I guess Mourinho has that charisma/leadership (don't know what it is) that got new players working together back then.
Granted, he needed time to get the squad gelling and the players needed time to adjust to each other's styles. But it's gone from bad to worse. While an unusually bad day for Spurs I think the city game showed exactly what spurs were missing: moves that headed into the goal.
