The ScoutCast – Episode 119 – Throaty

Feeling rougher than a Lee Cattermole tackle, I manage to patch myself up to share a microphone with Granville for another Podcast episode. Tonsils in tatters, the usual round of blows come my way as my co-host strolls into the mini-league distance with a comfortable three-figure lead.

We talk Rooney vs Aguero and rinse through the ScoutCast regulars, while I end up getting misty-eyed about Stephen Ireland – one of a select band of “soft spot” players who rise to the top of my watchlist at the first sign of a semblance of form. And I wonder why I’m struggling.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Was on the fence regarding captaining Lukaku or Aguero.

After the team form analysis, bookies odds, previous matches, preview from Whoscored, and my little gut feeling.

    Lukaku (c) it is. 😉

Literally the toss-up of all toss-ups. Either one is good, and it's pretty tough to find a reason to pick one over the other. I went Coleman, personally. Just fancied that attacking down the right aspect that he brings to the table.

Is put Distin in. Howard is 1 yellow away from a suspension. Mignolet has tough fixtures but he'll have to make saves, and football is such that liverpool will prob pick up an unexpected clean sheet here or there in next few gameweeks. Having said that, if you keep Mig you'll be doubling up on liverpool at the back... Tough call

already brought in Williamson; I'm looking to change around DF to get funds to upgrade midfield eventually...squad looks like this right now...

            Mignolet, Boruc
Williamson, Coleman, Clark, Ryan Bennett, Chico
            Ozil, Hazard, Brady, Ramsey, Brunt
            Remy, Aguero, Suarez

thing about DF is that Ryan Bennett probably won't play, Chico is suspended, and Clark has Man Utd; so I'm looking to get in another defender possibly, while also reallocating budget

    Ravel, Ozil, Hazard, Barkley

    Rooney(c), Suarez, Aguero

I think there's greater value in Jagielka if you can do it and if you want double Everton. I think doubling up in defence with the same team carries a certain amount of risk though. Newcastle and Villa have a run of decent fixtures. I no it isn't sexy but have you thought about Williamson?

I thought about Clyne--> Williamson but was worried he isn't truely nailed on. Wish I could afford Jags but have 0 ITB. I'm worried about the double but trying to make up and 70 point gap so gonna have to take some risks. The fixtures are so good for Everton that I might just chance Distin for a while.

Had Ozil for weeks and weeks now. Selling price is 10.3 and he costs 10.3.

Rooney is a 200+ point season gatherer once he gets going. And it seems its one of those seasons.

Stick my friend stick. You don't need to do a hit especially with taking out probably one of the highest scoring midfielders at the end of the season. Plus hazard played a full 90 mins, can't be sure of a full 90 mins again.

Which one guys? All else equal (Coleman Walker Gabbidon)

    a) Burner (SOT, SUN, WHM), Fonte (CHE) + 2m
    b) Merte (whm, new, CAR, avl)

2m would allow me to upgrade Ramsey to Walcott, if needed.

Good grief the standard of coaching in Irish grassroots football is so unbelievably inept. Massive argument with the managers tonight because, for some "unfathomable" reason, one of the lads putting in a 2 footed tackle from behind on another guy is unaccpetable. They said, I quote "He's just adding intensity to the game" my point being that tackles like that don't add intensity but can really hurt someone. If football is to improve it has to start at the lowest levels.

Okay, rant over, apologies gents just had no other place to vent 😀

yeh its pretty intense when a guys leg gets broken......tbf the elite players dont always set a good example....nor do managers either really

No of course not, some really never set the professional example at all but you have to wonder about a manager, watching over a training session who allows leg breakers because they add to "intensity". Sometimes I wonder, even at the very highest of levels, if football has the same discipline and professionalism as the likes of rugby (certainly not discipline) or other sports involving some contact.
