The ScoutCast – Episode 119 – Throaty

Feeling rougher than a Lee Cattermole tackle, I manage to patch myself up to share a microphone with Granville for another Podcast episode. Tonsils in tatters, the usual round of blows come my way as my co-host strolls into the mini-league distance with a comfortable three-figure lead.

We talk Rooney vs Aguero and rinse through the ScoutCast regulars, while I end up getting misty-eyed about Stephen Ireland – one of a select band of “soft spot” players who rise to the top of my watchlist at the first sign of a semblance of form. And I wonder why I’m struggling.

        I'm torn between Lukaku and Suarez. The benefit of Suarez is that I would have my captain going in the last game of the gameweek and will be home to watch that game. On Saturday, I'll be out with family doing an early Christmas get together because one of my brothers and his family will be away when the real Christmas rolls around. F That Fitzgerald, I say! I wanna sit around, eat tea cakes, slurp down coffee and vanilla-flavored soy milk, smoke phat spliffs, and watch some Prem! Who's with me!?!

    Are there really any differentials anymore? Seems like the best bet for catching anyone who you have your sights set on is choosing a better captain. Crikey! Never can remember a season like this. I know they touched on this sort of topic on the Scoutcast. It's really something bothersome at the moment.

    squad looks like this right now...

    Mignolet, Boruc
    Williamson, Coleman, Clark, Ryan Bennett, Chico
    Ozil, Hazard, Brady, Ramsey, Brunt
    Remy, Aguero, Suarez

    1 FT available...should I...

    Chico --> M. Olsson
    Boruc --> Marshall
    or
    Remy --> Lukaku

      You can probably get away with Mignolet for another 2 weeks until after the Cardiff game, Chico needs to go but you put out a decent defence this week so I'd start with Remy to Lukaku

          should I also do Chico --> M. Olsson and a -4?

          strategy for the next few weeks is to replace Boruc (probably with Marshall, unless Myhill possibly?) and to change around Brady and Brunt for better options in a few weeks, but not sure what those better options are right now...

    (lost on the last page)

    I've got my eye on Paulinho because of his price and seems a guaranteed starter with AVB.

    46 goal attempts (best of all midfielders, tied with Townsend 😯 )
    31 attempts in box (best of all midfielders)
    14 shots on target (fourth best)
    30.4% shot accuracy (not very good, Ozil has 13 shots on target with a 76.5% shooting accuracy)

    I think shot accuracy is key and what I've noticed when watching him play. He's really involved, gets forward, gets a lot of chances, but just hasn't had the end product to produce the goods. But those numbers lead me to believe he's definitely worth keeping an eye on, especially when when/if he and Spurs can find their form.

      I got him in a couple of weeks ago for similar reasons. His goalscoring history in Brazil is actually pretty decent. They have OK fixtures, he is 100% nailed on, and is getting a lot of shots. I think you can do a lot worse for that kind of cash. He's also a nice differential.

        yeah, the 100% nailed on is what drew me to him, especially in December.

        Paulinho 1320 minutes played
        Townsend 895

        Sigurdsson 614
        Lennon 586

    Coleman, GJ, lvanovic, (Rosenior, Ward)
    Ozil, Gerrard, Ramsey, R Morrison (Januzaj)

        He's walkin' a fine line, in that I think he will be dropped when Vertonghen, Rose, and Chiriches are all healthy. Of course, that might never happen at the rate we're going, and I think he's probably got a spot wrapped up for at least the next few games. Surprised so many would get rid, but there is that City game looming, and people probably just thought, oh well, might as well pick up one of those Everton blokes.

            Don't I know it, as a LFC fan I watched him drift into FPL obscurity. It was Kenny's fault, he listened to ol whiskey nose when he said Adam's corner kicks were worth 10m alone.
            Little did he know that he was a fat lazy bstrd that adds nothing to any PL midfield.
            Adam is awful. Would be out of place in a part time Sunday league.

      Assuming money isn't a problem, Rooney or Lukaku?

        Rooney. I recently got rid for Lukaku when he got suspended, and while I'm pretty happy with Lukaku, I think I would prefer having Rooney back. He is like a weird drug that I find so hard to deny, and there is no reason to think that he isn't going to score well in the coming gameweeks. I may just swoop back around and nab him up again after this gameweek.

          Yeah. It's a weird thing, because I also hate not having Lukaku when he's been out of my team. Plus, Everton have such magnificent fixtures. I just wish I could fit Rooney in there. I may actually do a Kun to Rooney switch next week or thereabouts. Just seems a bit insane, however, to get rid of the FPL's second-leading scorer to date.

            I did major surgery, and major points hits 👿 basically to get Hazard, but I like having things a little more spread out with big hitters in midfield.

            ending up with Suarez, Aguero, Lukaku, Hazard, Ozil, and Yaya to choose from for captains' hopefully works out

          Silva, definitely, but that doesn't mean that he can't score well. From what I have seen of Silva this season, he has really looked dangerous. He's on my radar big time. I have Yaya now, but might make a switch in near future.

            Neither in danger of rotation both so essential for City to be at City's best - Silva in danger, as always, of his next injury.

              Silva, no matter how you slice it though, will get less minutes in the long run. It might not be that much of a difference, but I can almost guarantee it.

                For sure - he will get taken off at 75' often. He asked about rotation though, and Silva will not get rotated when fit.
