The ScoutCast – Episode 119 – Throaty

Feeling rougher than a Lee Cattermole tackle, I manage to patch myself up to share a microphone with Granville for another Podcast episode. Tonsils in tatters, the usual round of blows come my way as my co-host strolls into the mini-league distance with a comfortable three-figure lead.

We talk Rooney vs Aguero and rinse through the ScoutCast regulars, while I end up getting misty-eyed about Stephen Ireland – one of a select band of “soft spot” players who rise to the top of my watchlist at the first sign of a semblance of form. And I wonder why I’m struggling.

        Did Gerrard > Silva. Was looking at Silva prior to the Bayern game as well. Doubling up with Aguero. Also, getting him in allows me the comfort of getting Rooney in if and when I want to.

      I'm in Busan, been here for a few years. Seoul is usually colder, but the wind off the sea here, which is great in the summer, is a chiller/killer in the winter!

Looking back on the season so far, which players are still in your squad from Gameweek1? Who has survived the frantic transfers and wildcard cull?

McGregor (has made me a good few points), Coleman, and 5th mid Yacob, are the only ones for me.
Boruc went recently, and Yaya came in early for Silva.

This is my team (no FT left):

Howard, Myhill
Jagielka, Lovren, Distin, Fonte
Toure, Ramsey, Lallana
Suarez, Aguero, Rooney

Baker, Bacuna, Meyler

I've been struggling to figure out how to proceed from here; I've even contemplated ridiculous things like taking a loss of 8 points on Saturday and doing the following (or -12 points now):

Rooney, Lallana, Fonte --> Hazard, Chester, 9.2m forward

-or-

Fonte, Lovren, Lallana --> Hazard, Chester, John

I think both of those moves will ultimately hurt more than help. Suffice to say; I need to be pulled back to my senses and would probably never pull those off.

How do I fix this team; without making it worse?

  Save for now . On saturday after deadline do Rooney to Giroud/Remy and Lallana to Haz for a hit. Next week do Lovren to a good 5 m defender.

        Ozil is on nearly all set pieces, including pens (if Arteta is off the field). I'd start him if I had him.
        
        It's a risk, but I'd bench Ramsey from your lot - the chances of him getting a big score are pretty slim away at City - the others not so much.
