PlayON Gameweek 17 – One Team, 30 Fixtures, £1,000 Guaranteed

PlayON, the weekly Fantasy football game, is rolling out a Bumper Gameweek over the festive period, which hands Fantasy managers the chance to grab a share of a guaranteed £1,000 prize pot.

Rather than pick a team for a single weekend’s action, your selected XI must take into account the upcoming three Gameweeks – essentially, we have 30 Premier League matches to consider when assessing our festive selections. The deadline for picking your team and entering the £1,000 guaranteed game is this Saturday morning at 10.45.

While £1,000 is the guaranteed pot, once 200 people enter the pot will continue to rise above £1,000 for each additional entry, so be sure to share and tweet this article to your Fantasy Football friends to grow the prize pot to well above £1,000.

The Bumper Gameweek kicks off on Saturday December 21 at 12.45pm, where Liverpool host Cardiff at Anfield, and ends on Sunday December 29. By taking the upcoming three rounds of matches into consideration, PlayON have made matters intriguing for Fantasy managers. If you select Luis Suarez for Saturday’s clash with the Bluebirds, for example, the Liverpool forward is also on board for the next two, which sees Brendan Rodgers’ side face trips to City and Chelsea – clashes which will test his current form to the full.

Jose Mourinho’s side also have a game against Arsenal over the PlayON Bumper Gameweek and, according to our season ticker, their fixtures are rated second most difficult over those three games.

Indeed, looking at the ticker, the top four sides for favourable fixtures over the PlayON Gameweek are Aston Villa (sto, CPL, SWA), Man United (WHM, hul, nor), Tottenham (sot, WBA, STO) and Everton (swa, SUN, STO), which suggests it could be a worthwhile tactic to target some of their regulars.

Manchester City are also in the mix as they look to recover from the loss of Sergio Aguero. A trip to Fulham precedes back-to-back home games with Liverpool and Palace and indicates Manuel Pellegrini’s men may find themselves on PlayON radars.

What’s also worth bearing in mind here is the Suspension Tightrope. If you’re looking to invest in Roberto Martinez’ side, for example, it’s worth noting that three of their players – Tim Howard, Gareth Barry and Ross Barkley – are all one caution away from a single match ban. A booking in either of the first two games would lessen their availability to just a couple of matches.

City’s David Silva is the most high-profile player with four yellows to his name. The playmaker is sure to be considered by many in light of the above-mentioned schedule but he’ll need to be on his best behaviour in order to ensure he remains in contention for all three matches in the PlayON Gameweek.

If you’re new to PlayON and interested in getting involved, read this season’s introduction article for more information. As always, we’ll be publishing our recommended player picks for the Gameweek in our regular Friday lunchtime article tomorrow.

If you’re ready to starting selecting your XI, you can pick your team here.

Just as easy for us to say that we are turning up to some of these games without Sturridge and Gerrard. It's a long season injuries always happen.

United, city and spurs all have huge squads, squads that are much bigger and much more expensive and experienced. Don't think they can use injuries as an excuse.

Liverpool has a big squad, just poor. Many signings this summer don't play because not up to snuff (Aspas), signings from previous sucked (Downing, Carroll). Don't complain about the size of your squad, complain about the quality of it. Pool has had the cash for all sorts of players, but squandered it.

Mate first of all, I'm not the one who brought up missing players in games. We are coping just fine without the players missing.

Secondly we have had bad signings agreed, but so have majority of the other clubs. Now as for Aspas, it's his first season at the club in a new country and has just had an injury which he is recovering from. Give the guy a break, if you have seen him play at all, you'll know that he is a very decent player who has the game to do well in the EPL.

Now if you really think Liverpool has as big a squad as spurs or city then you really need to go have a look again.

Fair enough. I didn't mean as big as City, definitely. (I never mentioned missing players.)

I was thinking of Aspas (who might improve) but also Luis Alberto. Although thinking of a ton of wasted cash last year on loanee Sahin with zero upside. I saw Aspas in the U-21 Euros. He was good.

In re-reading, I didn't mean it as confrontationally as it now sounds to me.

You're underestimating the pants-ness of Chelsea's playing at the moment, especially away from home. If there was a "Terry to make a critical error leading to a goal" option on PP I'd be throwing a few quid on it.

Adkins did a good job too when Cortese gave him the heave ho he was called for everything look at Saints now.

In fairness that's not a great example because Tan is no Cortese.

But in short owners want their own guy.

              Yeah maybe.

Wakey I think at times thou harsh on the face of it the sack can be of benefit but I think the instances where that's the case are the minority.

Whether its the right or wrong move who can say till Tan appoints his guy.

It's not just a matter of getting shut, sometimes the way they set about it is outrageous....If he doesn't fancy him as manager he pays him off and acts with a bit of decorum within the press for the benefit of the club and the outgoing manager. This hanging out the dirty laundry lark does nobody any good.

I'd agree there's no class in the current stories.

The big money owner is catch22.

Seen often as great money for players push for Europe next thing your playing in different colours under a new name like some kinda premier league franchise.

                  Its crazy.

On a personal level my local side sacked its gaffer last season.

Appointing a Dubliner we will sign Dubs and move away from the conveyor belt of Derry men and sadly back to the kinda set up that saw us go bust.

I probably going cheap, so I can do Brady > Walcott.

So I'm looking at Bardsley, Wilson, Chester or Ward. You should perhaps consider Burner (although Cardiff news ain't great) or Gabbidon if you fancy Palace double 😮

      Or Distin, for Double Toffee?
