Monitor – Adebayor and Eriksen

As Tottenham’s momentum under Tim Sherwood continues to build, two of their first-team have emerged as leading contenders for our Fantasy attention. Since the departure of Andre Villas-Boas, Emmanuel Adebayor has played a part in six (three goals and three assists) of Spurs’ 11 goals over five matches, whilst Christian Eriksen has chipped in with three goals and an assist.

With 36 points apiece in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, many wildcard drafts currently include one of the duo in light of Sherwood’s penchant for attacking football. Both are still very favourably priced, with Adebayor slightly more expensive at 7.8 to 7.3 and, as interest intensifies, we cast an eye over the pair’s recent displays and also compare them to other options in their respective classifications.

Those hoping for an aguero blank this week, we're hoping in vain really arent we?

Would you WC with this lot:

szczes, daniels
Kosc, Coleman, Bardsley, Burner, Chester
Silva, Haz, Ozil, Erik, Whitts
Suarez, Luka, Ade

FT used. Would still need a hit to get Aguero in next GW, which i'll inevitably have to do.

Shall I give up hoping and WC now?

Or am I underestimating the value of waiting a GW or 2?

Note to everyone planning/doing WC teams.

If you are going to have a team with 8 attacking players who you might want to start regularly (I include Januzaj in this), that is of course your choice.

However, please do not turn up on here every weekend, complaining about how Januzaj scored double figures points on your bench whilst Eriksen blanked or how Cabaye got a lucky penalty away at Anfield in the only week you benched him! You will not receive sympathy!

You have been warned!

    That's a fair enough choice, but you can bet your bottom dollar that if he scores a hat full of points, then that entire weekend on here will be full of people complaining about how they benched him.

      I just wanted a reliable attacking sub OK maybe not 100% nailed but very talented.
      
      The talent of the season for me capable of good returns who if needs be he has to play may save a hit because I don't feel weakened.

        I think he'll be all but nailed on soon enough, he's been the only bright spark for them recently. I'll be considering him for my 4th mid soon enough, I'd expect.

  I think it's smart to have someone like that on your bench.
  
  I find myself needing my bench most weeks, for one reason or another. Having points on the bench is a pain when they stay there, but a bonus when they come off it.

  There are several different "types" of posts that irritate. Just something you have to live with given the huge amount of posters. There will always be people bragging about their high scores that week, lamenting bad "luck", bitching about their cup opponent, etc.. just gotta turn an eye, recognize it early, and stop reading and keep scrolling 😉

    Very true, but considering about half the WC teams I've seen have Januzaj as 5th mid, with the intention of benching him every week, there's gonna be plenty of weeks where this place is filled with moaning about his bench points if he continues to improve.

    I'm thinking about getting Lallana in later because as much as I stare at and analyse Southampton's fixtures then they don't seem that good to me for the next three.
    Was very tempted by Gnabry but Wilshere is more nailed on and is in better FPL points scoring form.
    I'm probably wrong but thanks for your help.

    I have that game covered with Speroni, Palace are by no means certain to keep a cs. Hull are a tough nut to crack, whilst Norwich have been very poor.

Been sick all day and just saw that Aguero is going up. I'm on my WC, and if I do Negredo to Aguero it means I have 7.2m to spend on a midfielder to replace Gerrard.

I'm keeping Ozil as my only Arsenal cover, unless I also get Wilshiere.

  Maybe lack power, I would disagree on the accuracy bit, quite often his chances are from close range. Lest not forgrt the assist factor also.

FT Giroud to Aguero? I've got 3.5m in the bank for exactly this purpose but it's becoming very tempting to go against the grain. All other things being equal, I'd fancy Giroud to score as well as Aguero this week and I'm not enthralled by City's fixture list - potentially adding a bit of rotation risk for Kun. On the other hand, they don't gone more nailed on than Giroud and with Walcitt out, everything will go through him in the final third. My two reservations are 1) that Giroud looked absolutely dead on his feet at the end of Monday night, and 2) I'm happy with my squad having wildcarded last week so I don't really need the 3.5m elsewhere.

I also have Lukaku but like his next fixtures. I would have to take a hit and downgrade to a 3.9 reserve keeper and I don't take hits lightly.

Real toughie, need to decide tonight really looking at the price movements. If I decide against Aguero it might end up meaning I can't realistically afford him again...

What are your thoughts?

Why is there such little interest in Wellbeck?
Rooney and RVP are both out for a long time. Man Utd have 4 easy games after Chelsea. Wellbeck has played well and scored 6 goals in 6 games. Total goals scored is one less than (Giroud, Lukaku, Negrado)
He is the second most in-"form" striker, and the most "value (form)" striker
At £7.3m he is a good 3rd striker option with Aguero and Suarez.
