Fixtures

Frisking the Fixtures – Gameweek 25 – The Weak

Having assessed those boasting prime platforms for strong returns in the coming Gameweeks, we now turn to assess those on far more shaky foundations. The in-form Black Cats and Arsene Wenger’s title chasing charges feature amongst those blessed by few favours from the fixture computer.

Sunderland

sun25

The transformation under Gus Poyet has been remarkable: unbeaten in their last four, fresh from a 3-0 triumph at St James’ Park, Fantasy managers should be carefully running the rule over their mid-price assets. The fixture list strongly suggests we should cool our boots, however, with newly acquired prize possessions – Vito Manonne and Adam Johnson are perhaps set for a barren run as Poyet’s men come back down to earth with a proverbial bump.

The Gameweek 28 blank is the first consideration – around that we have three evil away fixtures at City, Arsenal and Liverpool. It’s hard to imagine the Black Cats’ rearguard standing up to that assault, making home matches with Hull and Palace precious intervals in what is a harrowing schedule. Johnson’s form could carry him through, although he will have to add the “fixture proof” attribute to his growing reputation as a Fantasy asset if he is to live up to his recent level of investment.

Arsenal

ars25

With the Gunners now firmly under threat from City and Chelsea in the title race, Arsene Wenger’s men are on the eve of their most testing run of fixtures with Liverpool, United and Spurs on the horizon in the next six. A trip to Stoke offers little respite, making the Emirates meetings with Sunderland and an off-colour Swansea all the more vital.

Fantasy managers are perhaps likely to hold firm in the hope that Wenger’s men can weather the approaching storm but, defensively, returns look unlikely beyond the two aforementioned home encounters. In attacking terms, there is still much to be optimistic about, with the Liverpool, United and City defences all having apparent cracks to expose.

Fulham

ful25

It seems highly unlikely that Fantasy managers would dare knock on the door at Craven Cottage, even to consider the newly acquired talents of Kostas Mitroglou. There’s little question that the form of Rene Meulensteen’s side is faltering badly, just in time to coincide with a run of opponents that will likely leave them rooted to the bottom of the table come mid-March. United, Liverpool and Chelsea loom in the next three, surely consigning Fulham to scrap for points in the away trips to West Brom and Cardiff.

Also be wary of…

Man United
The blank in Gameweek 28 already prompts the need for caution when considering United’s assets and form would suggest that they are unlikely to make light of a testing run of matches heading into March. Three away trips follow the Old Trafford encounter with Fulham, with Arsenal, Palace and West Brom amongst the most stubborn home defences in the league.

Crystal Palace
While Tony Pulis’ rearguard resources have served us well in recent weeks, they look set to be stretched by forthcoming encounters with Everton and United, while trips to Swansea and Sunderland, plus a Selhurst Park meeting with in-form Southampton, also suggest that clean sheets will be hard to come by.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Boruc/Davis

    Azpi/Evans/Parr/Kosc/Chester

    Yaya/Hazard/Mata/Johnson/Pozuelo

    Suarez/Sturridge/Giroud

What to do with this lot? Normally would take out giroud but thinking save for the upcoming blanks.

On a scale from 1 to 10, how crazy is it to go in this week without any City players? Can't work out who to drop of my front 8:

    Mirallas / Puncheon / Mata / Hazard / AJ
    Suarez / Sturridge / JRod

    £2.9m in the bank.

    Morning All,

Should Clyne be in line to start this week, I will hopefully then be able to carry transfer over. I am planning to then do:

Evra to Reid/Demel & Rooney to Sturridge, or possibly Dzeko/Negredo.

Obviously have Suarez. Sturridge could also do well, and solves problem of City blanks. Have Silva for City cover. Sturridge is bound to stop his run at some stage. Hopefully it is this week and then he continues his rich vein of form again after 😎

Those transfers look good ?? 🙂

Hi TM. Been a bit away from FFS. How's it going?

110k rise. Don't think I could have done better. Into the top 350k. 🙂

        How about you?

It's make or break for RVP for me. If he can't do against Fulham at home,he will never do it again!

How's this looking? Not certain on subs & captain choice.

    Mannone
Coleman - Ward - Vlaar (Koscielny)
Hazard - Puncheon - Ki - Lallana (Sterling)
    Rooney (c) - Suarez (vc) - Negredo

Play Kos. Liv is vulnerable at the back & he may get chance to score a header!

Been thinking this. May have to bench Vlaar. Sterling I'm less sure on, stats are fairly even over the last six.

Kos over Vlaar based on form & deserving a place, Ki getting another chance over Sterling as Sterling's yet to get me any points 😀

I am playing Ki, but I don't have Sterling. So hoping that your fixture related(?) decision is right.

My ML is pretty tight only 40 points separate the top 4. I'm sitting third 27 points off top. Now i know that the other three managers will captain Suarez so in my eyes the logical thing to do would be to do the same. I am happy with my other 10 players and I dont think now is the time to take captain punts. If Suarez scores 3 and say i capt hazard and he blanks it makes my ML a whole lot more difficult.

What im getting at here is everyone should decide their captain based on their team and their rivals. I know 'pick the player who will score the most points' but we all know that Suarez could end up with 1 point or 17, same goes for Hazard. We've still got a long way to go inc a few DGWs, slowly does it imo.

If your ML is more important than your OR then this makes sense.

Yes, theres money to be won in the ML id rather finish 200K and win the ML than finish in the top 5k and finish 2nd

Pretty logical. I've always thought this if you're confident your other 11 are better. Only would sway away from Suarez for Aguero or RVP

Gotr id of a player who only has three decent games in the next nine, from a team who had the easiest fixtures of all teams for the first ten games, and will now pay the price for their next ten fixtures..Oh and Cahill is as a big a goal threat as Coleman, and even more than Merts. Good transfer and well timed.

    howzit folks,

My transfer for this gw is probably evans >> shaw as other def are mert/kolorav/vlaar/bruce 🙁

Dont have any city attacking coverage for the next 3...so thinking caz >> silva (-4)??

It seems sideways but i shd be able to make up the 4 points over a 3 week period...i cant do the same transfer next gw as i will be removing AJ next gw and if i am going to take a hit next gw, might as well take it now to enjoy the benefit.

    ThoughtS?
