The Weekend Team News

Seamus Coleman is back for Everton. The injuries build up for Newcastle ahead of tomorrow’s trip to the Bridge. Victor Wanyama and Calum Chambers will be assessed before Southampton’s clash with Stoke, who have a couple of midfield concerns to fret over. James Morrison is back for the Baggies. Glen Johnson and Daniel Agger edge towards a return for Liverpool, whilst Ron Vlaar remains a doubt for Villa’s clash with the Hammers:

Earlier this morning, Roberto Martinez confirmedSeamus Coleman “has come through training really well” ahead of Sunday’s trip to Tottenham. Antolin Alcaraz remains out for the Toffees, whilst Romelu Lukaku is set to miss the next couple of weekends. The Everton manager revealed Ross Barkley has been playing through the pain barrier after sustaining a broken toe but expects the youngster to be fully fit and went on to say he will ”need to check” on Lacina Traore, who is no “fully fit from a medical point of view”.

Newcastle United have revealed that midfielder Cheick Tiote will miss the Magpies’ next two fixtures at least, after he picked up a hamstring injury during the week. Papiss Cisse remains a doubt with a back injury, whilst Alan Pardew has confirmed that Yoan Gouffran is “unlikely” to return this weekend. Elsewhere, captain Fabricio Coloccini is expected to be out for another three weeks.

Mauricio Pochettino confirmed that Victor Wanyama and Calum Chambers came off against Fulham with a knock and dead leg respectively. The pair are back in training, though, and set to be assessed ahead of the Stoke clash. Injury absentees Dejan Lovren and Gaston Ramirez have returned to light training, with Pochettino suggesting that the duo will be back in action “sooner than expected.”

James Morrison is available for West Brom’s clash with Palace this weekend after recovering from the calf problem which led to his absence in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool. Nicolas Anelka, Jonas Olsson and Stephane Sessegnon have all been ruled out however, with Pepe Mel confirming that defender Craig Dawson will be thrust into the starting XI to face the Eagles.

Brendan Rodgers has suggested that defenders Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson could both return to training next week following calf and ankle/groin problems. The Liverpool boss was less optimistic on Mamadou Sakho, though, revealing that the summer signing is “still out for a little bit.”

Norwich centre-back Ryan Bennett (thigh) has emerged as a doubt for the weekend, with Hughton declaring that it will be “touch and go” as to whether the defender features. Hughton also delivered positive news on the fitness of Michael Turner (hamstring) and Jonny Howson (back), revealing that, despite not being available this weekend, the duo have made good progress in recent days.

Marko Arnautovic and Jon Walters are both concerns for Stoke after limping out of last weekend’s victory over Man United. Mark Hughes remains hopeful that the pair will be available for the trip to Southampton, though. Long-term absentees Matthew Etherington and Andy Wilkinson are back in training for the Potters but Robert Huth is still a couple of weeks away from a return.

Aston Villa have mixed injury news ahead of the visit of West Ham this weekend. Skipper Ron Vlaar remains a doubt with the hamstring problem that forced him off at Goodison Park last week, though there is good news on Gabby Agbonlahor, with Paul Lambert optimistic on the forward’s chances of featuring, revealing that he “looks pretty good at the minute.”

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

Am I the only person who thinks Carroll knew exactly what he was doing? He had his eyes on the ref with an innocent look as he swung his arm around. He was hoping to accidentally do Flores and get away with it.

Fantasy Football Scout Daily Hot Topic

    Gameweek 28 planning.

It may seem a long way away but in four gameweeks ManC, ManU, Sun and WBA will all miss a fixture. How are you planning for this?

Are you looking to ditch your players from those teams ahead of that clash. For ManU and Sunderland that would be reasonable, given their tough fixtures.

But what of Gameweek 31 when the Manchester teams have a double? Which players are you happy to bench for that week?

How many players from those teams do you have now?

I’m probably quite average among the community in owning a fair few – Rooney, Mata, Silva, AJ and Mannone. I also have an injured bench of Chester and Hudson so for me I have to start planning now as I’ll have potentially six outfield players missing.

Currently got Silva, Dzeko, Mata and RVP. Mata is the only definite to keep through the blank due to value, the others to be honest I've not decided yet but don't really wanna have 25-30m stuck on my bench.

If there is double blank I am gonna sell my City assets. Otherwise bench them. They are explosion in fantasy terms. On the other hand if SUarez has blank in GW 29 I might sell him for Kun/ RVP

Just Kolarov and Mata for the blank GW28 so no issues.

It's unlikely Kolarov will play both DGW31 fixtures, so may dump him for an EVE defender.

I'll be bringing in Silva and giving him the armband for DGW31.

This. You could sell a City player now for a player who has a blank if you're not careful.

Apart from the two safe fixtures, any other "planning" involves the unknown outcome of FA cup ties.

I only have Silva with a blank at the moment (purposefully avoided Sunderland on my GW23 wildcard due to poor fixtures anyway and United are too inconsistent) and I will hold him unless he gets injured. That's as much planning as I'm doing! Flexibility is the key to any "planning" you can do.

Dumping Sunderland players, no WBA to worry about, 1 Man Utd, 2 City atm.

Other planning I shall wait on until after the FA Cup results next weekend give us a better idea on future fixtures.
As long as my bench holds up I should be OK.

I have Mata, Evans and Dzeko.
Man U are one of the few teams who definitely have a match GW29. So it is worth benching the likes of Mata GW28 rather than selling, so they can play the next week. Same applies to WBA if anyone actually has any of their players.

      - Silva
      - Mata
      - Rvp
      - Mannone (no sub keeper)
      - Chester injured
      - Yoshida, soon to be dropped

3 FTs left until blank. Might do KD to Adrian to have playing keeper, maybe ditch Rvp Studge and if Silva have double blank then he needs to go.

Boring or not, you need to maximise your points with fairly low risk IMO. Suarez is still at home and others offer potentially more explosive returns but the risk is unnecessarily big for not enough return. Just my 2c anyway!

And I´m surprised people actually considering Suarez as captain. I know he is a great player, but his form have dipped a lot since Sturridge returned. Also facing the best (or top 2) defences in the league.

Hazard is a great option imo

The hot topic in the widget about Suarez captaincy is very compelling and makes me want to look elsewhere. I play it hugely safe and I'm really not sure Suarez will do that well against Arsenal. Hazard looks a pretty good option actually.

    Hi guys,

Help me to decide pls 😀

    Marshall (Mannone)
    Shaw, Gabbidon, Cahill (Kosc, Vlaar)
    Mata, Yaya, A.J., Hazard, Eriksen
    Suarez, Sturridge (Bony)

    1 FT, 2.8 in bank

1 - Any change on subst in defense?
2 - Play Eriksen or Bony?
3 - Use FT for Bony -> Benteke? or other?

    Morning.

    1. Note that West Ham are playing away this week
    2. Note that they have the 4th best away defence by CS
    3. Note that they have more away CS than home CS, including an infamous CS at Chelsea and Southampton, Spurs, Cardiff
    4. Note that their opposition have the 3rd worst home attack
    5. Note that their opposition center forward failed to shoot in the previous game

    ???

    The Trouble with Baines.

Last Season, this fellow was flying. Literally. He was almost always the leader in my "Cute Crossers" table, quite apart from figuring in the "Deadly Assassins" also.

This year, corners are average, while crosses are down slightly in number, and hugely in quality.

As for his goal threat - well it is minuscule compared with previous.

So, whether it be for reasons of form, or because Martinez uses him in a subtly different way, I am dropping him for the run in.

Wonder if it's partly Baines' attacking freedom being restricted by Coleman's attacking endeavours on the other flank. Try running the same comparison on Coleman, averages of course, and see if he's more attacking under Martinez?

Without a shadow of a doubt - but not nearly as stand-out as Baines was, last year.

        Just natural improvement, imo.

Yeah it's pleasing that we can chalk Coleman down as a successful FFS bandwagon with his potential seen early. Though he was even better than we anticipated, we thought he had assists in his locker, it turned out he had loads of goals.

Maybe it's true, Baines has just had a quieter season with less motivation and less responsibility heaped on his shoulders, as he almost _was_ Everton's attack last season. Now he has Coleman to help out. We've already seen when he really bothers he can get the points - remember him saying he scored the two free kicks because Osman said he sold him?
