FFS Paddy Power Cup IX and Members Cup IV – First Round Draws

We bring you the draws for the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX and FFS Members Cup IV, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after the qualifying rounds for both competitions took place over Gameweek 27:

First of all, entrants with a score of 56 points or more have earned a spot in the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX. If you scored 55 points, it was then down to overall rank to decide whether you progressed.

Our defending champion, Tdubb05, gets his title defence underway against stocherilac this weekend. Looking at some of the other previous winners, Jonty plays djt, MCH is up against Jambo 17, Donnellyc has cflanesra, Wild Rover goes head-to-head with Chobber Slops FC, whilst Gooner Dave has been drawn against JW.

Some of the plum ties amongst the community include Chu Young Ping Pong v Acquafresca, Bubbles against Yes the Sess! and Accounting on Chris v Attila the Bum.

Four of the current top 100 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers are in the hat for this weekend’s matches. Gambiteer, Justoutsidethemoney and Forbes are amongst those high-fliers as is world number two Tom Fenley, whose opponent, Alistair, currently sits around the 23,000-mark.

If you’ve qualified or just fancy a nosey, click here to view the full First Round Draw.

Entrants with a score of 58 points or more will have made their way into the First Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Members Cup IV. If you scored 57 points, it was then down to overall rank to decide whether you progressed.

Defending champion Acquafresca is up against Caladan Brood, whilst another former winner, Fuzzy Dunlop, goes head-to-head with The EJJ in Gameweek 28.

Amongst the notable community match ups, contributors Big Dunc and In Tommy We Trust face up to EpicFail and Chu Young Ping Pong respectively, whilst Dino’s clash with Bootsy and Thomass67 against Absinthe also catch the eye.

Once again, Tom Fenley is the manager to avoid in this cup. This time, he’s up against tmidrew who, with a rank inside the top 4,000, will fancy his chances of causing an upset. You can click here to view the First Round Draw.

For a list of the prizes and dates of each round, check out this initial article. As always, good luck to all those involved.

So am I correct in understanding there are still 6 games to be rescheduled?
Does anyone know what they are and if they might be in 31. I only remember the 2 called off for the weather
    Everton v palace (possible 31)
Man city v Sunderland (not possible)

It looks like I could bring in 11 players with DGW on WC and still have a strong team to take forward, especially if Everton get a second fixture which they are almost certain to

Yeah there's Sun'land WBrom, Arse Swans, Toon Eve and City Villa. Not sure how many of those will end up in a DGW though.

Agree this first DGW is the one to blow your WC on, there won't be a better (or more lucrative) chance to have a useful post-DGW team.

They will all end up in a DGW but not 31 for the ones involving city and Sunderland. Only one of the Everton fixtures as well

Everton's a possibility for 31 for sure. I suspect Newcastle and Arsenal games might end up mid-week fixtures. City are the ones to hang on to, Sunderland fixtures don't look worth it.

Dzeko about to drop again. He needs to go, but still got my WC and value the -0.1m.

    so do I:

    a) get Ade, despite him apparently carrying an injury
    b) decide between Eto'o and Torres...
    c) get any ol' lamearse FWD
    d) wait til Chelsea & Spurs play their CL games

Quick, the drop is in 5 mins!

0.1m too much, maybe. Patience tested this week, already 0.3m down. But no, the value of waiting a couple more days might be more.

I don't fancy Ade's fixtures this side of GW31 either...

Get as many out as you can next week and clear up the mess with WC afterwards loading up on DGW players. I don't think there will be a better time to use it. You will just have to try and catch them with good DGW picks, especially captain

No WC week 30, so many good teams with double fixtures that you can have a great standalone team out of them anyway with the doubles a bonus
Biggest advantage us WC holders have is being able to get in players for week 29 without having to worry about how we dump them afterwards

I only need 4 pts to get a full team. Next week will bring in RVP (c) and snodgrass for sturridge and silva. Generally worth the hit to get players in, understand why you might not bother with a GK as 4pts would be about break even

I'm up a bit late with work in the morning but thought I'd chip in with all the United discussions.
I've read all seven pages and have a couple of things to say as a 41 year old Liverpool fan.

It may well be the end of an era for United. Two decades of dominance could well be coming to an end. I experienced the same thing when Kenny resigned in 1991 and Liverpool went hurriedly downhill when Souness was appointed. Many United fans will have only been used to unprecedented success thus far and it's very difficult to accept when results falter so badly, so quickly after a new manager is appointed.

If you are in your 20s or early 30s and are a ManU fan, you have my sympathies, and I mean that sincerely, but you need to prepare yourself for a period of uncertainty and support your club accordingly. You've had many great days and now is the time to step up to the plate and shed that misconception that all United fans are from London or are somehow "plastic".

I'm a Liverpool fan and when I was younger I would have relished in the fact the fact that United were struggling, but with age comes maturity, and grace. I feel genuinely sorry that a great club like United were reduced to a performance like that in Europe tonight.

The whole LOL @ Utd, thing annoys me.

Great club. Great history. There's many a United fan still around that spent 26 years waiting for a title, just like us Liverpool fans these days.

Following your team is a glorious and life long passion.

    🙂

Well said. I've never been a Man U fan but they are truly a great club. Ferguson was one of the all time great managers and can not be replaced. Uncertainty will be the test of the club and its fans but they have the pedigree to find the right, new path.

Great post. As a United fan who had been going to OT every fortnight for almost twenty years before we won the league I appreciate that these things come in cycles. United fans were very lucky that the cycle lasted as long as it did and anyone with any objectivity could see that the team has been on the decline for three years or more and that only the will of Fergie secured the last two titles. many United fans don't realise how lucky we've been. It could easily be another 26 years before we see titles returning as it takes a long time to halt a decline as you've seen with your team too.

Great response. I would be one of these United fans in my late 20's. Coming from the other side of the world also might even put me in the 'plastic fan' camp. However I never came to accept United as my team because they won all the time, I am no glory hunter (I support the Blue's and Northland rugby teams for a start for those in the know). I am fully prepared to continue supporting United through the tough times ahead and will relish the challenges that await. Bring it on.

    A) Snodgrass in for Yaya, then bring Yaya back again? Better team for gw 28 - 29, but waste of transfer(s), worth it?
    B) RVP in and C for gw 29, then transfer out gw 30 for SAS? Better team for gw 29, but uses up 2 transfers? Is keeping RVP for gw 30, C vs Liverpool(weak def, rivalry) viable?

Silva -> Lallana is close to a no brainer I take it? Or should I look to go cheaper in order to free up cash to allow Lambert -> Aguero further down the track?

How many transfers will it cost you to bring in Aguero once he's back - if you were to go Silva > Lallana?

Silva -> Lallana would leave me with 2m to find from somewhere in order to sell Lambert to Aguero. I wouldn't want to sell DGWers either limiting my options.

Perhaps downgrading Ivanovic will free up the funds

He has a DGW though so I'm reluctant. Although it might depend on when that DGW will be (I'm assuming it will be GW31 like all the others.

I qualified for the Paddy Power Cup but not the Members Cup. How embarrassing. At least I got into one.

How many players are people looking at having in GW29 and DGWers in GW31? I'm currently looking at 10 in GW29 and 6 DGWers in GW31 (assuming no other fixtures are moved to GW31), taking one hit in total. Are the majority of people going full out, possibly taking multiple hits, looking for 8+ DGWers or are you happy to settle for less?

Well I'll have 10 for GW29 simply because of dumb luck. Its now a matter of maximising the number of DGWers I can put out on top of that. After GW29 it'll all be about selling those without DGW's for those that have DGW's. Have a spare FT in the mix will also help with that.

Yep after GW29 I'll probably be getting in Yaya, Kun and Nolan. No one tempts me from United or Sunderland and I don't have a transfer to waste on getting a Hull cheapie in my defence. Already have S&S and I'm quite reluctant to sell Hazard and Lallana even though they won't have a DGW. All of this while I'm going to be away for 10 days over GW30+31 with no internet, which will probably ruin my season. Tough times.

I think I'd be keen on a West Ham defender (to double up with Adrian). Hopefully things will be clearer by then regarding Reid

      10 in GW29
      10 in DGW31

Max out the bench with such players and they will play in GW29 and have DGW's to come. City exempt re GW29

Yeah. Not sure getting rid of Hazard just to have a double gameweeker is the best idea. Often times, I have picked guys up for DGWs, and it hasn't worked out as planned due to minutes or whatever. He's too good, Hazard, to let go. How much money would lose as well if you tried to get him back?

I'm not so sure about losing Hazard. Baines is another who has good fixtures around that time and I have him so I'll probably be keeping. Doesn't look bad though.

8 or 9 players at GW 29 (no hit) and looking forward to bring in the likes of Huddlestone/Sterling, Nolan and Aguero in the next two week to secure 6 DGWers. Been busy with work lately so I will probably do the planning at last minute. One thing for sure I won't hesitate to take hit in a dgw as it's only -2 for every hit.
